Did Sarah Palin have a miscarriage or an abortion?

It appears ole Sarah’s book, Going Rogue, is causing quite a stir in more ways than one. She blames the McCain campaign for her failings (so laughable!), but she also talks about her “pregnancy with Trig” and how she had two “miscarriages” before him. What’s so interesting about these “miscarriages” is on one of the hospital/doctor bills the word “abortion” is whited out and the word “miscarriage” has been put in.

When was the last time you saw white out on a hospital/doctor bill? Huh?

What is even more interesting is Harper Collins who published Sarah’s book sent a Cease & Desist letter to PalinGates online to order this website from posting excerpts from Sarah’s book. How come they haven’t sent a Cease & Desist letter to other websites online who have posted parts of her book? Could it be because…

PalinGates printed the two pages (they’ve been redacted on this link) about Sarah’s “pregnancy” with Trig and it included that weird entry about how she received the doctor’s bill with a ‘weird typo on it?

Why would Sarah want us to know about the “typo”? How do we know it came to her that way? What are the chances she herself used Wite-Out on this hospital bill to hide the fact she had had an abortion and not a miscarriage? I think I know! Sarah is very good at lying and deceiving and this shows how far she will go to cover up her life and it’s one more reason for me to believe that she was never pregnant with Trig! Her daughter Bristol was. I bet Sarah watched the episode of Desperate Housewives where one of the characters fakes a pregnancy to cover up for her daughter and decided to go with that!

Someone still has some explaining to do! Oh yes she does!

I’m no fan of Palin, or Republicans in general, but the fact that Trig has Down’s syndrome is a point on the side that Sarah is his mother. Older men and women are far more likely to have a baby with Down’s syndrome. Liberals can be strong w/o stooping to the sliminess of Republicans.

Not all children born with Down’s come from older women. All women/girls have a chance of giving birth to a special needs child.

Patricia, you are being rather intellectually lazy. You assume because Trig has Down syndrome, you conclude without any further investigation that Sarah must be his mother.

Sarah Palin is a hypocrite and liar of the highest magnitude on the Richter scale. She has pulled the biggest hoax in American political history using her “family values” gig, and because people feel it is “personal and private”, the issue has remained unmentioned by the main stream media for over a year. The whole point is that she would fake a pregnancy to hide an embarrassing family situation, so what would she do on a national scale? That is why her hoax must be exposed.

Please spend some time looking at the FACTS that have been gathered. On the side bar of Palingates, under “EXTRA BABYGATE RESOURCES, you will find pictures, travel authorizations, calendars, etc. And keep in mind, Sarah Palin scrubbed all pictures of her from her governor’s website from January 2008 – April 2008, and had someone scrub the MySpace material from Bristol’s and her friends MySpace pages, just to mention a few oddities:

Patricia, women of advanced maternal age are more likely to have a child with DS, but the overwhelming majority (like more than 75%) of these children are born to women under the age of 35, simply because younger women are more likely to conceive and carry to term overall.

I want to give Palin the benefit of the doubt, not because I like her but because, like many women, I’ve had a miscarriage, too, and I realize it can be traumatic. But this is an odd story, made even odder by the fact that she even saw a reason to include this in her book. Why? I tend to think there’s an ulterior motive.

  5. Pat in Texas
    November 17th, 2009 @ 11:35 am

Of course there’s an ulterior motive. At some point she had an abortion, but now that she’s the darling of the right-wing, she’s terrified that that is about to come out. Hence, a painfully transparent attempt at a preemptive cover-up.

Mentally, she’s still in 8th grade.

Medico-legally a miscarriage is termed as a “spontaneous abortion”. I am NOT taking her side at all but it is a term used in medical records and billing.

And no I do NOT believe Sarah is Tripp1’s mother.

  7. ProChoiceGrandma
    November 17th, 2009 @ 1:01 pm

Basheert, the difference is the fact that “miscarriage” is not a procedure. Abortion IS a procedure. Sarah said under “procedure” it listed “abortion” and it was whited-out and over-typed with “miscarriage”. IF someone from the medical office made a white-out (which they NEVER do), they would have replaced it with a PROCEDURE, such as D&C or D&E, not a condition. This is where she outed herself in her own book.
And after hearing her on Oprah talking about keeping diaries since she was Piper’s age, I’ll bet Levi got hold of the diary from 1989-90 when she had the abortion, and has it safely locked away. Now I am beginning to understand her hyperventilating in her Quitter speech.

Could Sarah Palin be as big a fraud as Mark Sanford, Newt Gingrich, John Ensign, Larry Craig, Ted Haggard, Mark Foley, Vito Fossella, David Vitter, all are?

Probably, because she, like all of them, thinks she can still foole and lie to people much smarter then she is and get away with it …. IE not get caught.

PS 90% of America is much smarter then she is.

Let me guess….ole Sarah had an abortion AFTER HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH ONE OF TODD’S BUSINESS ASSOCIATES? Hey, it’s one of many rumors out there! Could very well be. I’m sure Sarah being a “feminist and all” will come clean about this once and for all. She’s all about the truth! *wiping laugh tears away*

We all know how the religious right wing zealots like to twist bible scripture to push their hateful agenda, lets see how they like this:

In the book of revelation it talks of a harlot riding a scarlet beast out of the wilderness.

    Wilderness = Alaska
    Harlot = Sarah Palin
    Scarlet = Republican party (Red)
Beast = Anti-Christ, right wing false prophets who have taken over the gNOp…

    Could be…. ;)

It is really despicable to accuse a mother who lost her baby of having killed her baby.

Sarah’s experience is not unusual. Having talked with hundreds of women, dozens of whom have had “missed miscarriages” like Sarah (myself included), I know that Sarah’s story is not a lie.

Do you realize that the medical term for miscarriage is spontaneous abortion? Many doctors will use the term abortion in their medical records, but to show compassion for the bereaved mother, sometimes they will label it miscarriage instead, because it doesn’t have that negative connotation that the word abortion has.

It is heartbreaking to lose a baby to miscarriage- and it only adds insult to injury calling it “abortion”, even though that is medically what it is called. I don’t doubt Sarah’s story one bit.

  13. Grant in Texas
    November 24th, 2009 @ 12:25 pm

It is correct that “God” is the biggest single abortionists on this Earth. In medical contexts, the word “abortion” refers to any process by which a pregnancy ends with the death and removal or expulsion of the fetus, regardless of whether it is spontaneous or intentionally induced. Many miscarriages/stillbirths are often a blessing in disguise in that the developing embryo or fetus may have gross developmental problems.

Bethany must really get around to have talked to “hundreds” of women who have suffered miscarriage (before 20 weeks) and stillborn (older than 20 weeks). In industrialized nations, 5 out of 1000 births are stillborn (so Bethany above has had to “interview” THOUSANDS!). The number of miscarriages is even harder to calculate since many are flushed in a “late” menstrual flow early on with the pregnant woman often not even aware of a minuscule embryo in the blood, or deposited on the sanitary napkin.

Miscarriages and stillborn are even much higher in 3rd world nations (and among our poor uninsured here in the USA) where there is no prenatal care in most cases. The mother’s health, habits, environmental poisoning, etc., can all lead to such interruptions of a pregnancy.

  14. Bethany
    November 24th, 2009 @ 1:12 pm

No, I don’t have to get around much at all, except on the web. Women from all over the nation, and overseas, have emailed me, written, and called after I posted about my miscarriage experience online, and posted pictures of my baby.

(go to JillStanek.com and click on the “miscarriage” tab in the archives. At only 6 weeks past conception, my baby had fingers, toes, eyes, ears, a tongue and was beautiful).

As one in 4 women miscarries, and it’s more likely to happen in the first trimester, it’s a lot more common than you might realize.

I’m currently writing a book about healing from the pain of miscarriage, which is why I come into contact with so many women concerning this subject.

It’s extremely difficult to go through the loss of a child, and it is sometimes harder when it is a miscarriage, because so many people just don’t realize how devastating it really is, or expect women to just “get over it”. It’s really not that easy. People need to be more sensitive to others who have gone through a loss.

So hundreds of woman WROTE on your blog, Bethany, so you didn’t TALK to them.

In my embryology labs during my pre-med studies, we had pickled embryos and fetuses to study, and many cross-section slides from right after fertilization up to the end of the second trimester. Hate to pop your illusion but your embryo at six weeks, the size of a pencil eraser, looked like this:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:6_weeks_pregnant.png

    or at five weeks:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tubal_Pregnancy_with_embryo.jpg

The human embryo at this stage looks just like an embryo of other vertebrate animals, rabbits, pigs, fish, turtles, lizards, etc. at the same stage, all having tails, gill slits (which tissue later in higher air-breathing animals contributes to the bones of the human ear…the hammer, anvil, and stirrup).

    http://home.honolulu.hawaii.edu/~pine/book1qts/embryo-compare.html

At six weeks there are no fingers, toes, eyes, ears, tongue, not even sexual parts other than swellings and with the X and Y chromosome dictating growth, at week seven male genitalia begins to form from “female” origins. Testes develop from the same tissue as do ovaries but “descend” from the body cavity (hopefully but not always) into a scrotum that develops from a healing of the vaginal labia (BTW, there is a scar from this healing called the mid-line raphe, a ridge visible on all of us males starting from near the anus and continuing along the mid-line of the scrotum to under the length of the penis. The penis develops from the same tissue as does the clitoris, and both sexes share the same intricate nerve ending origins (and why female “circumcision” in some cultures is mutilation). Sometimes things go awry and the scrotum remains open giving a false vagina to a hermaphrodite who may have a developed “clitoris/penis”.

Many things can go wrong during embryological development, a reason for natural miscarriage. I saw a pickled blob in a lab once that was nothing but a mass of cells in a squash shape with some hair even but without limbs or even a distinct head, so, in such cases Mother Nature aborts.

Sarah said she contemplated ABORTING TRIG because he was Down’s. Her words. Not mine. So if she can say this today then why the hell couldn’t she have aborted other fetuses (calling them miscarriages by whiting out the word “abortion” on the doctor’s bill now that she’s famous and wants the right wing fundies to love her! She’s a fraud)….THEN SHE SURE AS HELL COULD HAVE ABORTED FETUSES PURPOSELY IN THE PAST and is today calling them MISCARRIAGES.

Again Bethany, where is your proof that Palin is talking about a spontaneous abortion? Huh?

So hundreds of woman WROTE on your blog, Bethany, so you didn’t TALK to them.

No, I have talked to many on the phone, many through email discussions, and some in written letters in the mail. Some I have met in person and spoken with.

In my embryology labs during my pre-med studies, we had pickled embryos and fetuses to study, and many cross-section slides from right after fertilization up to the end of the second trimester. Hate to pop your illusion but your embryo at six weeks, the size of a pencil eraser, looked like this:

Please see ehd.org for real life videos of unborn children at the stage of life I describe. (This site is not affiliated with pro-life.)

Also, when a woman is considered 6 weeks pregnant, the actual conception date is usually 2 weeks less, because they calculate based on your last monthly period. The depiction there of the unborn child is closer to 4 weeks, not 6.

(Not that the looks matter anyway – the fact that it is essentially a human being is what matters. The outward similarity to animals is irrelevant.)

At six weeks there are no fingers, toes, eyes, ears, tongue, not even sexual parts other than swellings and with the X and Y chromosome dictating growth

I am sorry, but you have been misinformed.

Many things can go wrong during embryological development, a reason for natural miscarriage.

And many things can go wrong after birth as well.

Again Bethany, where is your proof that Palin is talking about a spontaneous abortion? Huh?

Actually, what she had appears to have been a missed miscarriage (medically defined as missed abortion), not spontaneous. (Very much like my own). I should have clarified that earlier.

I thought feminists believed women can do whatever they want and succeed in life, following their own path?

So YOU know enough to train your kids for the electronic enviroment they will face in the 21st cen, you know all about computers, mathematics, the new sciences they will face and use?

Eh, I doubt it simply because she lies about everything else, and once you lie about one thing, everything you say becomes suspect, even something like this.

If Sarah had a REAL spontaneous abortion years ago, then why would someone white out the word ABORTION on the doctor’s bill, which is what a miscarriage is. Huh? BECAUSE SARAH IS A LIAR, A DECEIVER, AND WANTS THE RIGHT WING RELIGIOUS BASE OF THE AMERICAN TALIBAN TO ADORE HER!

Feminists don’t use their looks to rally the masses into becoming hateful violencemongers like Sarah does. A feminist doesn’t parade her children across the stage like they’re Macy’s shopping bags to gain sympathy & respect and they don’t act like a victim or quit her “man’s job” as Governor half way through her tenure because she wants to be glorified to feed her empty pathetic ego!

Sarah is not a feminist. She’s a Pig.

How come we humans are not considered 9 months old at the moment the umbilical cord is cut and the first breath is taken? Oh wait! That’s because life is not viable until then!

  31. Bethany
    November 25th, 2009 @ 4:54 pm

Kayinmaine, I’m glad that you are aware of this, but Grant from Texas was apparently not. I read quite clearly what he said:

“At six weeks there are no fingers, toes, eyes, ears, tongue, not even sexual parts other than swellings and with the X and Y chromosome dictating growth, at week seven male genitalia begins to form from “female” origins.”

If Sarah had a REAL spontaneous abortion years ago, then why would someone white out the word ABORTION on the doctor’s bill, which is what a miscarriage is. Huh?

I have heard similar stories repeatedly over the last few years. It’s not unusual because the medical term for miscarriage is abortion, but the connotation for the word abortion is negative. I don’t know why this is difficult to understand.

How come we humans are not considered 9 months old at the moment the umbilical cord is cut and the first breath is taken? Oh wait! That’s because life is not viable until then!

We are approx 9 months at birth, in most cases, unless we’re born prematurely, etc. We celebrate birthdays because birth is an event that takes place in our lifetime. It’s not the beginning of human life itself, obviously. Any biologist could easily explain this to you.

Also, in some cultures, your age is counted from conception- however, it’s really difficult to know for sure when you conceived, so it’s easier to track birthdays, don’t you think?

SARAH is the one who whited out the word abortion. She said the bill came to her in the mail with the word whited out, but why would the doctor’s office use white out on a bill? They would just print a new one if a mistake was made. Sarah is the one who mentioned the white out in her new book and this is why I did this post. She’s a liar. But hey, you can love and worship her. Some do that when it comes to satan!

Having a second trimester miscarriage would immediately put any woman into the “high risk” category for future pregnancies. Didn’t her doctor say she had no predisposing risks with her last pregnancy? Why would she fly thousands of miles after her water broke when she had already had TWO miscarriages, was older and was in premature labor?

Once had a student’s water break as she stepped off the school bus and the school immediately called an ambulance and a baby was delivered only hours later.

Sarah’s water broke very early in the morning in her Ft. Worth hotel but she waits to give a speech before Republican governors later, drives by some of the nation’s best neonatal hospitals on her way to DFW Airport for a flight to Seattle where she had a layover for a second leg to Anchorage. Once again she drives hospitals with neonatal units in that city to travel to smaller Wasilla, and SAYS she delivered a baby in that regional hospital that is WITHOUT a neonatal unit, taking a big gamble with the life of a premature “special needs” baby. Of course Mat-Su Hospital never announced the birth and displayed a picture as they do for other babies born there. Here are the babies born there on April 18, 2008 and there is NO Palin baby as Sarah says was born there on that date.

    http://www.matsuregional.com/nursery/show_day.php?date=2008-04-18

There is NO Trig that comes up in the search feature on the webpage:

    http://www.matsuregional.com/nursery/nursery_calendar.php?month=06&year=2008

Sarah says that the birth date of April 18 means Bristol could not have conceived that quickly again with Levi’s sperm. But what if Trig was actually born earlier (where is the birth certificate, you know which Sarah claims Obama doesn’t have)
