Awwww, poor Rick Santelli of CNBC. He’s terrified of President Obama’s press secretary, Robert Gibbs!

Could Rick Santelli, Mr. Hedgefund Manager/Stock Broker, be any more pathetic than the rant he showed us the other day on CNBC calling Americans ‘losers’ for not paying their mortgages? Why yes! Yes he can!

He’s now saying President Obama’s press secretary, Robert Gibbs, has threatened his life and his children’s. Here’s the exchange between Santelli and that ‘pure as the driven snow’, G. Gordon Liddy on Liddy’s show:

SANTELLI: He started that press conference saying, “I don’t know where he lives, I don’t know where his house is.” This is the Press Secretary of the White House. Is that the kind of thing we want? Is that —

LIDDY: It’s a veiled threat.

SANTELLI: It really is. […] I don’t really want to be a spokesman, but I really am very proud of a) the response I’m getting, which is overwhelmingly positive, and b) discourse, that is debate. That if the pressure and the heat I’m taking from the White House – the fact my kids are nervous to go to school – I can take that, okay.

(THINK PROGRESS has the audio of the exchange between these two morons) As noted in Think Progress’ post, Santelli also went on Mike Gallagher’s show to promote the same fear…..that Robert Gibbs wants he and his children dead!

Here’s what Robert Gibbs actually said:

Q – there really does appear to be some anger out there from people who just don’t believe the President when he said that only people who acted responsibly are going to be helped here. How can you assure people that you’re going to reward only people, only homeowners who acted responsibly?

MR. GIBBS: Well, let’s go through this, because I do think this is very important. And I’ve watched Mr. Santelli on cable the past 24 hours or so. I’m not entirely sure where Mr. Santelli lives, or in what house he lives, but the American people are struggling every day to meet their mortgage, stay in their job, pay their bills, to send their kids to school, and to hope that they don’t get sick or that somebody they care for gets sick and sends them into bankruptcy.

[]

And Mr. Santelli might also know that if you live in a home that’s near one that’s been foreclosed, your home value has likely dropped about 9 percent, which for the average home is about $20,000.

Now, every day when I come out here, I spend a little time reading, studying on the issues, asking people who are smarter than I am questions about those issues. I would encourage him to read the President’s plan and understand that it will help millions of people, many of whom he knows. I’d be more than happy to have him come here and read it. I’d be happy to buy him a cup of coffee — decaf. (Laughter.)

Tell me where in there Gibbs is threatening the life of Santelli please! You can’t, because what Gibbs is saying to Santelli is for him to put himself in the shoes (or the house!) of these Americans to feel what it’s like for them.

We are witnessing the slow death of the American Taliban (the GOP/Corporate America/the Thieves). It’s beautiful how far they’re reaching to make themselves feel better about what they’ve done to our country in 8 short years!

Rick Santelli is getting very paranoid these days which is so odd, because he was touting recently that his cell phone was filled with tons of well wishes & thank yous and every person he’s met on the street loves what he said!

He might have been lying when he said that and now his paranoia from the reality of what he caused is making him hear threats, when really, there isn’t a threat there at all.

We get to watch Santelli slip into the oblivion now! I can’t wait. I’ll make sure I’ve got lots of popcorn & Diet Pepsi on hand just in case it happens quickly!

  3. Clif says:

Santelli set up the usual strawman argument of classifying everyone in the same vein,

    ie

“How many people want to pay for your neighbor’s mortgages that has an extra bathroom and can’t pay their bills?”

Which fits some people BUT not all people which is why santelli is just another free market screw up.

He is using a strawman argument to hide the real facts.

That Wall street greed is the foundation and mechanism which created this melt dpwn NOT the straw-people he attacks.

In some ways he is just a better speaking version higher paid of Joe the Plumber on this one.

  4. Chris from Maine says:

    G. Gordon Liddy? Really?

CNBC is right wing, as you would expect from a business network, and this isnt really surprising.

However if he thinks thats a “threat”, he should listen to right wing radio sometime.

  5. skudrunner says:

    Clif,

President Barack Obama’s spokesman went right after Santelli because he knew that the truth may get out. PORK ll will take someone who bought a home they cannot afford and make it a house they cannot afford but bill you for their mistake.

Gee lets buy a house I can’t afford because in two years I can sell it and make a lot of money. Oops the housing market has fallen so I will bail on my mortgage and blame the guy that approved my mortgage because just like Clif, I cannot read a mortgage document.

I would think you would be against this PORK bill because it helps those greedy rich who wanted to make some money. this doesn’t help the poor so what is your angle. Are you just a neocon in drag?

  6. LOL!! Liddy? Santelli goes on a talk show hosted by a guy whose main claims to fame is that he’s a felon and he uses his hand for a chaffing dish? And we’re supposed to take him seriously? LOL!! Sigmund Freud couldn’t figure out how this smirking bastard imagined a threat from Mr Gibbs’ statement. When is he going to start having his little tea parties. Do you suppose they’ll have cucumber finger sandwiches? GAWD! What a schmuck!

  7. Clif says:

President Barack Obama’s spokesman went right after Santelli because he knew that the truth may get out.

    what truth?

Santelli was making a false generalization about the housing crisis and how it affects the millions of INDIVDUALS who are affecte by it?

False generalizations by definition are false since they do not correctly reflect the truth of a complex situation.

    PORK ll

Nonsensical statement by a very disturbed person who keep wallowing in this strange delusion for some reason.

will take someone who bought a home they cannot afford and make it a house they cannot afford but bill you for their mistake.

You know this how since the actual process is not finalized so the RESULTS are not known by anyone except for those who claim their delusions are reality.

So that statement is another questionable statement by somebody who seems to wallow in strange delusions that do not reflect reality.

Gee lets buy a house I can’t afford because in two years I can sell it and make a lot of money.

Wall Street thought in 2002-2006 that was a good business practice to push the mortgage brokers to underwrite mortgages so Wall Street could repackage those flawed mortgages as solid investment vehicles.

The mortgage brokers thought since they didn’t keep the debt but sold it off why should they care of if the mortgages crash and burn since they already have made their money?

But you want to blame the person who doesn’t have the requirement to actually do due diligence in MAKING the loan.

Oops the housing market has fallen so I will bail on my mortgage

Some are some not, so JUST like rick Santelli, you are making a false generalization about the very complex housing crisis and how it affects millions of INDIVIDUALS.

and blame the guy that approved my mortgage because just like

Well the mortgage broker is responsible for doing the due diligence, not the customer who is asking for the loan.

If the proper due diligence had been done the loan wouldn’t have been made in the first place.

Clif, I cannot read a mortgage document.:

Well I can, and I read the relevant pages out of the entire 700+ stack of paper work that was at the closing where I signed the mortgage I paid in full.

I would think you would be against this PORK bill because it helps those greedy rich who wanted to make some money.

Well I am against bailing out the people who were flipping houses to make money, but the person who bought a house to LIVE IN and then circumstances overwhelmed them, i feel that if we can help them stabilize the crisis will be alleviated much faster then just allowing bush tent cities to keep popping up like they have done since 2006 in some places.

this doesn’t help the poor so what is your angle.

I have no angle, I have had two mortgages in my life and paid off both. Each time I went through a process to show my income and what debt I held, and both times i asked for a mortgage I got approved.

PS neither time did I use the VA loan guarantee I earned from serving in the military because I qualified with out it.

Are you just a neocon in drag?

No son I’ll leave the dressing up in womans clothing, and wallowing in strange delusions to YOU.

  8. kayinmaine says:

A reminder to Skudly…..when you were little growing up in your town, there were folks paying their taxes who had no children in the school system, but yet, their money went to you and all the other little kiddies to make sure you had books and a safe school. When you became an adult, the process continued! Isn’t that neat, Skudly? Now, you and Santelli need to get a clue and start realizing that we are all in this situation together and we all must help each other get out of it, otherwise, a good majority of America and the world will be plummeted into severe poverty. Get it?

    Bah hahahahahahaha Clif!

Frank, Santelli is a schmuck alright!

Ralf says this is a pathetic site…and yet he comes here and posts a comment on a thread where the last posted was two months ago. We aren’t left wing extremists here fool we are Americans concerned for our country, unlike you right wing extremists we even go after Obama and the democrats when they do something we don’t like. Something you idiots never did in the eight years bUSH was in charge.

  12. Grant in Texas says:

I was raised in a 98% Republican family dating back to Abraham Lincoln. My father and grandfather served at total of 24 years in political office as elected Republicans and my late brother-in-law served two terms as a Republican state legislator in the House. However, several of my family said they voted for Obama, the first time some had voted for a Democrat in their lifetime, since Eisenhower. They feel, just as did William F.Buckley’s son, Christopher, that the Republican Party of old has left them.

After being active in YAF in college and working the floor of the 1960 Republican Convention in Chicago as a Goldwater Volunteer, I left the party at age 26 in 1965 when I began seeing Nixon and his strategist Pat Buchanan welcoming the racist southern Dixiecrats into the Party of Lincoln in order to turn the Old “solid” South from Democratic to Republican. After Raygun invited the immoral majority with its religious whackjobs (led by Falwell/Robertson) into the party followed by the neocons who fully supported Bush/Cheney dreams of conquering the world, I never looked back. I have no regrets.
