Iranian ships harassed US ships in the Persian Gulf?

Oh please! First off, whose territory is the Persian Gulf? Is it American territory (yes, I know our ships are allowed in there) or is it the Iranians whose country is there? And how is it possible that an American war ship ALLOWED an Iranian ship to get 200 yards (two football fields away) from it? Why did our warship allow itself to be “harassed”? Fishy. Smells wicked fishy.

Seems like ole Dick Cheney (you know, “the unnamed military official in Washington” mentioned below *rolling eyes*) is the one who is telling our military to let the Iranian’s ship get close enough so ole Dickie and his minions can say, “Hey! They’re teasing us! They’re scaring us! If they don’t back off we’re gonna attack!”. Spit.

Provoking a fight is something the reich wing American Taliban in the White House is good at. I’m getting very tired of it.

From the Los Angeles Times:

Citing unnamed military officials in Washington, CNN, NBC and other news outlets reported today that one of five Iranian ships came within 200 yards of a group of three U.S. naval vessels Saturday night in international waters within the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow passage through which much of the gulf’s oil reaches the world.
>
According to CNN’s report, the Iranians radioed the Americans with a threatening remark. “I am coming at you,” the Iranian said, according to military officials cited by CNN. “You will explode in a couple minutes.”

Why would an Iranian soldier say, “I am coming at you”? Does that sound like a military person on a warship talking to another country’s warship? I’m sorry, but there is something very fishy about that statement. And when does another warship tell another, “You will explode in a couple minutes”? For crying out loud, do they think we’re stupid?!!!! I don’t believe for a second that these statements were made BY ANYONE, because they’re just so ridiculous in nature.

The reality is….is Dick Cheney & George Bush are wanting to leave an absolute mess for the Democratic president to clean up in 2009. Yep, the Frat Boys are having their party and they’ll leave the mess for the Good Guys to clean up. Bastards.

What do you think? Was today’s provocation another, “Look at the birdie! Nice birdie! What a pretty birdie! Everyone see the birdie!” by the Bush Regime to divert America’s attention away from Edmonds statements against it or what?

Does it make anybody feel more confident to know that Cheney paid a visit to one of the ships involved after the incident?

Is it just me? I live in southern Louisiana and I remember very well how long it took anybody from the White House to visit here after Katrina. Remember, Bush was playing guitar somewhere in the West while New Orleans was under water? But look at this — here’s Cheney, lickety split off to the Persian Gulf after this event. Does that seem strange to anybody but me? Something stinks.

    Here’s alJazeera’s report:

It stinks to high hell, Gage! Gawd I hate that man. His reality is wicked, Evil, and dark. He has no feelings or compassion for anyone but his fucking self. He has no problem playing these war games like they’re a freaking board game, because he knows damn well his kids and grandkids will never have to clean up his mess!

Most of the Straight of Hormuz lie within Iran’s territorial waters, which means it SHOULD be their navy’s right to go where they want and any other’s navy have to ask permission, but when has the reichwingers in the USA ever respected the law here or anywhere.

The MSM will spin this totally ignoring who’s country OUR navy was actually in.

Like it is OUR right to force our way in their waters, but we would never accept any Iranian navy ships in our waters.

Right of way on the high seas…?! So-called right of way on the high seas is not a “Bill of Rights” but one of common sense and survival on the part the of ships’ masters.

If I were in command you stand down and protect your vessel and crew. Since no state of war between Iran the United States has been declared then a collision would have simply been logged as an incident/accident on the high seas rather than an act of war regardless of the childish rhetoric that may or may have not been exchanged.

We played “chicken” with the ruskies throughout the “Cold War” and didn’t turn our nation into atomized dust…no?!

In summation all I can say is: that I surely wish this were January 20, 2009 and Bush/Cheney were to become nothing but evil footnotes in world history…!

I feel sorry for Iran having to put up with our continual jingoistic bullshit!

    ^^^new post about Sean Hannity

    It’s a good one! Hysterical.

That’s what I thought, Clif & Carl. Warships can pretty much go anywhere around the planet, but have to get permission to come to port on come near restricted waters first.

Guaranteed it was us who were doing the harassing. Spit.

This whole thing bothers me a lot. ..esp. since bush is going to Israel to talk about them bombing Iran. I think that our military has stopped the bush cheney gang from going to war on Iran and they just changed tactics. Hope they can stop it again.Wish we had a legislative branch to stop this shit.

The delusional Bush is presenting himself to the Israeli media as a superhero…

“I can predict that the historians will say that George W. Bush recognized the threats of the 21st century, clearly defined them, and had great faith in the capacity of liberty to transform hopelessness to hope, and laid the foundation for peace by making some awfully difficult decisions,” Bush told Yonit Levi of Israel’s Channel 2 News. Bush held several interviews with Middle Eastern journalists last week in anticipation of his trip to the region, which starts tomorrow.

Bush talking about himself in the third person, said to Nahum Barnea and Shimon Shiffer of the Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot. “When he needed to be tough, he acted strong, and when he needed to have vision he understood the power of freedom to be transformative.”

Kay, you give the DOD too much credit when you use their headline. It wasn’t Iranian Ships, they were gun boats

And now time for a joke.

Why do they call camels the battleships of the desert?
Because they are full of Iranian seamen… :)

  9. kayinmaine says:

LOL Gage. Funny you should mention this, because on the radio it was reported as “Iranian security boats”, which makes them sound little. LOL All I know is these “boats/ships/dingys/row boats” were able to get within 200 yards of our Big Bad Warships. Seems to me ‘someone’ wasn’t paying attention by sleeping behind the wheel…or…this person was told to ignore the ‘enemy’ to use it as a scare tactic for America.

    Bah hahahahaha! Good joke. ;-)
