What a night for a wedding!

BACKGROUND: I hadn’t seen my high school friends since the day we graduated in June of 1986 and then in August 2006, we celebrated our 20th class reunion, and those friendships I once had were rekindled in an instant. We said to each other, “What the hell! I love you people! 20 years is way too long!”, and so, since that time we’ve stayed in touch with each other, because we knew we just had to! So, fast forward to a month or two ago. I’m talking with my friend Jan (if you’ve followed WNI for some time, you’d know she’s the one who was drinking ‘fishbowls’ of Margaritas last Christmas Eve when four of us friends went shopping together for last minute purchases!) via email and she says, “Annie is dying to talk to you! She’s down in Alabama and wants your email address. Okay to give it to her?”. Annie was not at our 20th class reunion and it’s been 21 years since I’ve laid eyes on her, so I said back to Jan, “Yes! OMG, yes!”. Sooooo…

…Annie and I start talking…a lot. She tells me that she’s feeling like her boyfriend is going to propose marriage to her and sure enough, he does! She and Stacey’s first plan was to get married in Alabama where they’re living, but she then realizes that she wants to get married up here in our hometown to be with her family and friends. She invites me to attend her wedding and of course I’m like, “I’ll be there girl! Just tell the place, day, and time!”! I’ve not seen her in 21 years and when I do…it’s at her wedding. OMG! I was so thrilled and honored to be part of their day! For Annie, Jan, and her family, it was a mad dash to get this wedding planned. They did an unbelievable job.

Soooo…..

Last night at 6pm in a church in our hometown, Annie & Stacey got married. :-)

Here’s the church they got married in…

Their altar…

Here comes Stacey’s niece (in white) as their flower girl, then Jan (our high school friend) and Stacey’s sister as the bridesmaid’s…

And of course! Here comes the bride looking as radiant and as beautiful as the last time I saw her 21 years ago! As soon as Annie saw me and I saw her, here’s her reaction (I was reacting the same way!)…

It was one of those moments where you want to lock arms and jump up and down and then high-five each other after banging bellies together! LOL Her father looked so happy and proud too. It was such a nice moment. Her mother later on said to me, “I can’t believe how long it’s been. You’ve gotten taller than I last remembered you!”. Yep. We’ve all gotten taller but we are all still the same! It was so nice to see Annie’s parents and her family. Stacey has a wonderful family too. What a night.

Here is Annie & Stacey at their altar…

And here’s our 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. S. (on the right), who attended along with (another) Mrs. S. who is one of two apple orchard owners in our hometown. She was part of the school system years ago too.

I went up to my 2nd grade teacher and she said, “Now, you look familiar but I can’t remember your name”. I told her who I was and she said, “You’ve gotten taller!”. LOL Yes, we’ve all gotten taller. :-)

The bride and groom less than 5 minutes married!…

Stacey is so sweet (loved his accent!) and standing with them in the receiving line I could feel their love for each other. Very powerful to be near True Love. :-)

Thirty seconds after taking their picture, Annie’s shoes come off…

…of course. Jan said, “Shoes like that are just plain wrong!”, meaning, having to cram your feet into them is torture for crying out loud. :-)

So…after the wedding, the bride and groom’s families had a private reception at the home of Annie’s parents. The rest of us (high school friends) are going to get together this week to celebrate Annie & Stacey’s day. Can’t wait!

After the wedding, I went back to my town to meet up with my neighbor and her daughter for drinks. Little did I know that Louise had planned this night for me to meet Peter! LOL Oh my. I did leave last night with one less business card in my purse if you know what I mean. That’s all I’m going to say. :-)

Here’s Brandie (Louise’s daughter), Louise, and Kathy who owns the bar and who also lives up the street from us…

We had a blast! I didn’t get home until 11:30pm. Again, what a night! :-)

Let me guess, neocon, you got married at the county jail where you’re serving a life sentence? I bet!

90% of our country is religious. Get over it.

Kay ask her about C&L she was banned there plenty of times, now she has joined the “club”

  4. kayinmaine says:

Yes, I know, UFL. Mirth is one of those chimps who pulls lies out of her ass, throws it against the wall, and then denies that she has lied! She’s been banned on other blogs too…not just C&L.

How was your Thanksgiving, by the way? Fun? Yummy? Sucked? LOL

  5. UFL says:

I had a good thanksgiving Kay, ate too much as usual and had to be rolled out to my truck. How was your thanksgiving?

  6. UFL says:

Fusciatone, now why would Kay steal away the only thing that satisfies your wife???….besides me?

  7. Gage says:

That was good, UFL. That was reeeal good. Concise and to the point, and right between the eyes. Bravo!

Isn’t that what you hate about this country?

It appears that it is YOU who can’t “get over it”.

PS-you lost that bet. You couldn’t be more WRONG !

Good morning American Taliban prisoner. How was your night? Cold? LOL!

What I hate about our country is the Reich Wing American Republican Taliban Nazis in it! That’s what I can’t stand. A country without them is a peaceful country. Religion is all around us, but what I don’t like is when the RWARTN decide they want to shove their wacked religious ideologies down my throat! I have no problem with people worshiping what they believe in….just don’t cram it down my throat. Get it, asswipe?

We had a bet? Sorry! I don’t make bets with trolls…especially the ones that live under the front porch of the RNC!

  12. UFL says:

Yeah LostinMaine, this is a christian country BUT unfortunatetly the leaders of many christian churches are extremists and false prophets who profit off the word of God while many of their so called hateful followers are hateful war mongers who seem to forget the true message of Christ. Like love thy enemy, blessed is the peacemaker, live by the sword, die by the sword.

Would Jesus bomb Iraq? Would Jesus turn his back on the sick, the poor, the elderly, the children? Would Jesus be a corporate whore, I don’t think so. Face it fool. Many of you so called christians on the right give the rest of us christians a bad name and it becomes more apparent each day that if Jesus were walking to earth today many of you so called christians would attack and smear him and most likely crucify him for being a man of peace and helping the sick and the poor.

  13. UFL says:

Gage, Neocon sabotage indeed! Love that song!

  15. kayinmaine says:

I fixed it, WATB Keef. Happy now? I’m sure you were suicidal all day yesterday because I misspelled this word, huh? Weirdo.

  16. Gage says:

The wedding photos are nice, Kay. I especially like that old (or it looks old, at least) church. My wife and I were married in an old church. The floor and pews creaked so badly, you can’t hear our vows over the creaks in the video we took.

    NEWSFLASH!

Trent Lott, good-ol-boy republican from Mississippi has announced his early retirement from the Senate, effective at the end of ’07. His term was to run until the end of ’08. Haley Barbour, good-ol-boy republican governor of Mississippi, will appoint someone to fill out his term, no doubt another republican from the good-ol-boy club. BUT, Lott was republican whip in the Senate, and a very effective one at that — obviously, if you’ve followed the republican voting record. This is going to leave a big crevice in the republican machine in Congress. It’s also might free up some of those republicans in the Senate who are worried about keeping their seats in ’08 to vote the way their constituents want them to — Lott was very good at herding and bullying votes.

The weird thing, the interesting thing, to contemplate is why Lott is retiring a year ahead of the end of his term, and why so suddenly. Aides report that he hasn’t any reasons of health, and there don’t seem to be any scandals on the horizon. Lott himself says it’s to pursue other opportunities, but that’s what they all say.

Lott is the sixth republican in Congress bailing out, but his bailing out sort of counts for more than the others because he’s up to his elbows in all of the neocon crap of the past decade. Are these guys falling on their knives? God, I hope so. Woohoo! Goodbye, Mr. Lott!!

  17. Gage says:

Well, I just had a post disappear into the ether. Try it again.

Kay, I like the photos, especially of the old church, (or it looks like an old one.) My wife and I were married in an old Catholic church. A really old one. The pews and floorboards creaked so loudly you can’t here our vows on the video we took.

Here’s an important newsflash. I just read about it:

Trent Lott, the good-ol-boy republican senator from Mississippi has announced that he will retire at the end of ’07, one year before his term runs out. Haley Barbour, the good-ol-boy republican Governor of Mississippi, will, no doubt, replace him with another republican from the good-ol-boy club, but this will still leave a big gap in the republican machine in Congress. Lott was republican whip in the Senate and, if the republican voting record is any indicator, he was a highly effective one. It’s not going to be easy to replace him. It takes someone who is real good at bullying and herding, and Lott was especially talented. What’s more, I think, is that this may free up some of those republicans in the Senate who are worried about reelection to vote the way they know their constituents want them to vote, especially on the war in Iraq.

The mystery is why is Lott retiring early. His aides say he’s not in bad health, and there don’t seem to be any scandals on the horizon. Lott himself says it’s to pursue other opportunities, but that’s what they all say. I wonder if the D.C. Madam is about to release another name from her little black book. Or is this just another rat leaving a sinking ship? Lott is number six in the Senate of republicans bailing out, but he counts for more than one as whip, in my estimation. Woohoo! Goodbye, Mr. Lott!!

    Edited by Kay:

(I posted both of your comments, Gage, because they both had some good info in them)

Can you believe that about Trent Lott? It’s interesting, but like you said, it could be that he’s about to get into deep do-do…or….he’s joining Tom Delay & Ken Blackwell of Ohio (he helped steal the 2004 election by shutting down the computerized voting machines in the middle of the night to run these votes through the RNC servers for them (for Kerry of course!) to be deleted. That’s why America woke up the next morning to a Bush win when it was Kerry who was winning all night)…..to help them with their new “conservative Moveon.org”? Could be!

The reich wing hornets are making their nest early this year if you know what I mean.

I don’t even think about typos and misspellings as I can read beyond such. After all, I am not grading an English composition! I type so fast I don’t even spell. Liking being bilingual, I just think the word and WHAM, it’s there on the screen without thinking about the “a, b, c’s” and I haven’t looked at a keyboard since high school typing class. However, there are many words I sometimes get wrong like “there-their-they’re” “wait-weight” “sum-some” and hundreds more where English has multiple spellings for the same sounding words.

I will never forget overhearing my East Texas sister-in-law helping my little niece once with her homework from elementary school. The kids were given words to rhyme. They had to find words to rhyme with various words and for example, for “BILL” my sister-in-law told her she could use “peel” “deal” “feel” “meal” “seal” “teal” “heal” I interrupted and told her that she was guaranteeing her daughter would flunk that assignment.

We had a girl saying the Lord’s Prayer every day over the school intercom and I could hardly keep from laughing as “heaven” was “haven” “day and daily” were “die and diely”, “temptation” was “temp-tie-shun”, “deliver” was “dayliver” and “evil” was “A-vil” and she could turn one syllable words into two like “bray-ed” for “bread” and “thee-us” for “this”. After 42 years as a naturalized Texan, I still haven’t picked up any of the various accents that can be found across the state (East Texas differs from the Panhandle, etc.). However, when I moved to California for six years I was told I had one (probably due to saying y’all) and when I go back to visit my home in Chicagoland, folks, even my parents, sounded strange. My partner is from Minneapolis and they sound even more strange! Of course, nobody talks like a Mainer!

  19. TomCat says:

Kay, it sounds like the wedding was great fun. I’m glad to hear that you got to catch up with old friends.

Lost, to set the record straight about Kay, she and I have gotten along quite well for some time now. She accepts and respects that I am a Christian, just as I accept and respect her non-belief. It’s not people of faith that bother Kay. It’s the religious hypocrites that try to cram their piety codes down others’ throats, preach love, and practice hate: the theocons.

  20. kayinmaine says:

Grant, you crack me up! Loved your comment about the accents and how you get other rhyming words when spoken through different tongue! So true.

Hi Tom! So nice to see you here today. The trolls are mad because I keep banning them, so they’re lashing out with their goat tails. LOL

Well, tonight I’m going out with Ms. Annie and her new husband! Hoping that Jan and others can make it to.

Have a good night! Sorry for the slow down in political blogging. This is a busy time of year…and plus…I’ve met a new man. Woohoo! Not sure how that will effect my blogging. :-)

  21. Gage says:

Some things are so nice you have to say them twice, I guess.

Kay, my wife is hearing rumors that Lott has a very young girlfriend and has been found out by his wife. It’s a rumor around here, but it’s not an unbelievable rumor. He’s bailing out early for SOME reason, and I doubt it’s to go home to Mississippi and work at his family’s coffee business.

    Woohoo, again!! Goooooodbye, Mr. Lott!!!

  22. Gage says:

One more time, just to celebrate! (if you guys lived down here, you’d be celebrating too.) Play this vid loud while chanting Woohoo! Goodbye, Mr. Trent Lott! I think we may be closing in on the Whitehouse now. Play this vid loud and chant Goodbye, Mr. Lott — you’re next, Mr. Cheney!

The other Trent Lott rumor is from this report today on the blog below:

    http://bigheaddc.com/2007/11/2.....-too-much/

However, so far it is only rumor. Male escort Benjamin Nicholas hasn’t flat out refuted it, however, if you are to believe “Big Head”. On one of his several blogs, Benjamin Nicholas denies it.

And he despises hustlers who “out” their clients like Mike Jones in the case of Rev. Haggerd.

You cannot fault him for not marketing himself, however!!! He could run for political office where many whores eventually end up!

Kay – you have told us what you hate about our coutry – is there anything you love (or like) about it?

    Edited by Kay:

I love my life that I have in it, I love the freedoms we once had, and hope someday Americans can get near the president to protest him in his face to tell him what we really think of him and his ideologies. I do not like the republican party and it’s offspring. They are what is hurting America, our image around the world, and my opinion of it too. See? I’ve always loved my country, but the past seven years of being lied to, propagandized, manipulated, and all the other crap the Bush Regime has done, has soured me. No question about that.
