A mini trial of Martial Law has come to Iraq!

Awwww how nice. Georgie “Busharraf” Bush must have woken up from another good night’s sleep and said out loud, “I want to do what Musharraf is doing! Let’s go after the media in Iraq to teach a lesson to the rest of the media that speaking out against us or making us look bad is not allowed!”. And, so he did…

From Editor & Publisher:

NEW YORK The U.S. military plans to seek a criminal case in an Iraqi court against an award-winning Associated Press photographer but is refusing to disclose what evidence or accusations would be presented.
>
An AP attorney on Monday strongly protested the decision, calling the U.S. military plans a “sham of due process.” The journalist, Bilal Hussein, has already been imprisoned without charges for more than 19 months.
>
A public affairs officer notified the AP on Sunday that the military intends to submit a written complaint against Hussein that would bring the case into the Iraqi justice system as early as Nov. 29. Under Iraqi codes, an investigative magistrate will decide whether there are grounds to try Hussein, 36, who was seized in the western Iraqi city of Ramadi on April 12, 2006.
>
Dave Tomlin, associate general counsel for the AP, said the defense for Hussein is being forced to work “totally in the dark.”
>
The military has not yet defined the specific charges against Hussein. Previously, the military has pointed to a range of suspicions that attempt to link him to insurgent activity.

Will Habeas corpus be honored? OMG! *screaming laughter* There is no Habeas corpus when the fascists like George Bush are in charge! No way! Oh, but military courts are around and I’m sure this reporter will be brought into a secret military court to learn what he’s done and then we won’t see him again.

King George must be thrilled today! Move over green fuzzy pajamas with the white feet on them! Georgie will be wearing purple silk today. He’s feeling good…..real good…..he’s a big boy now. Spit.

I could never bring myself to vote for anybody who associates themselves with the Republican party, but I am no less thinking of sending a donation to the Ron Paul campaign. The reason is simple. Paul will, of course, never get the Republican nomination, but if he makes a decent showing, his supporters are going to ask him to run as an independent. He’ll “Ross Perot” the Republican nominee, then, the way Nader “Ross Peroted” Gore. (The Dems should have taken a lesson from that experience, but it doesn’t appear that they have.) There’s another reason that I want Paul to make a strong showing. I live in the south. The Ron Paul devotees here are doing something that I haven’t seen for the longest time here. They are bringing the Constitution back into the discussion here. The Dems in the south — home of the blue dog / bush dog Democrats — have failed miserably in opening this dialogue. It’s as if the Constitution doesn’t even exist. So, anybody, ANYBODY, who is able to remind these southern Republicants that we do have a Constitution in this nation is of some value to me. Geez, you people up north probably can’t even imagine what it’s like to be a Democrat down here. Less than zero.

When I first talked with my German cousins in Frankfurt in 1975, some claimed they didn’t realize what was happening to them in the 1930’s “until it was too late and by then Hitler had built a fence around their nation preventing escape.” They claimed that they were blinded by their TRULY recovering economy and fell for the accompanying jingoistic propaganda, therefore not realizing they had helped to create a monster until it was too late.

I wondered then how much those Germans might be “in denial” but seeing how the American sheeple have fallen for the same lines, I no longer place as much blame on the German people. The only difference here, in many respects to the 1930’s Third Reich, is that our economy, with Bush mathematics, makes many Bushbots believe our situations are getting better all of the time. However, the nationalistic jingoism here is the same with the reich-wingers eager to use the “traitors” defense against any criticism.

Gage, I view Dennis Kucinich as our Ron Paul. ;-) Of course, most progressives when polled across this country want Dennis, but unfortunately, the ROM (republican owned media) decided to dictate early on who the Democrats must choose from (Hillary, Barrack, and Edwards). Pisses me off! If there was a Dennis Kucinich & Ron Paul match in 2008, I’d be afraid Paul would get in. Why? Because he’s not real good on women’s issues. He’s not open at all. I like his stances on the Iraq occupation and the Constitution, but pretty much everything else this man stands for I don’t. That said…you send your money where you want to. :-)

Exactly Grant. The “Bush Propaganda for the Economy” always has such a rosy outlook, huh? Investors were shocked today to find out that new home construction was up 3% last month. Well gee! Georgie has his friends and family in key positions who are the ones who are releasing these ‘incredible’ reports! Spit. Tired of the bullshit, the lies, and the propaganda.

  4. Gage says:

    I love Kucinich.

  5. busharraf is a great name..

but i thought the media told me iraq was a paradise now and that everything was perfect over there.. hmm, thats odd..

    Will Habeas corpus be honored?

Habeas corpus? Under Iraqi law? Can I have some of what you are smoking? Please?

Just another example of a “Progressive” ascribing our system/rights to every other person on Earth, whether they apply or not.

    Edited by Kay:

Uh hello! It’s your president who keeps implying that Iraq is a democracy and that the Iraqis are free now! Remember that? Free people have Habeas corpus, don’t they? If they don’t in Iraq, then how dare George Bush lie to us again! *smacking forehead*

  7. Gage says:

It’s kind of hell if you do and hell if you don’t with these busheep, ain’t it, Kay?

  8. obfuscio says:

so afraid of addressing the issue of where in the Iraq democracy “Habeus Corpus” is written, huh KKKay? Hiding behind your supreme ignorance by not publishing these comments, because you cant defend your stupidity and basic grasp of politics? Ashamed because you’ve been called out to support yourself with facts showing Iraq has Habeus Corpus and how it applied to journalist, Bilal Hussein? Afraid to say you are wrong? Ashamed to say you are wrong?

We understand. You’re just a liar, a blogger who writes something so profoundly stupid, showcasing that you did nothing to fact check what you wrote, got called on the carpet, and now silence those who point out your factual error and decide not to print their comments. And you claim to be for free speech?

Afraid to show the world you are an idiotand admit you’re wrong.

    Edited by Kay:

First off, Loser, my blog consists of my opinion throughout it and posts that include links to articles that I’m expressing my opinion on. If you don’t like my opinion, then fucking leave.

Second of all, tell George Bush to stop calling Iraq a democracy. Habeas corpus is the foundation of a democracy. You’re saying if one of our soldiers or journalists is captured in Iraq, they don’t have to know the charges against them and can be held forever without representation. Hey, if that’s what you like, then you and Georgie Bush are best buddies! Oh, but that’s right. You’d rather come here and spew your crap at me and not Georgie Bush, because it makes you feel manly, isn’t that right Ablog Cookie Cutter Group Instructor?

    Third, leave.

  9. fatwahonkay says:

Come on KKKay, prove to us that anyone is entitled to Habeas Corpus when it doesn’t exist within the articles of that country’s formation?

Why do you keep dodging this issue? If you’re right, and Bilal Hussein is entitled to Habeas Corpus you should be able to factually prove it. But you can’t, can you?

And you accuse Mirth of talking out of her butt? You’ve got some nerve! At least Mirth never backed away from being able to put up a fact to back her opinion.

You? You’re just loud, talking out of your ass, like an unstoppable stream of diarrhea.
