Fast forward almost 2 decades later and we find out our soldiers were torturing Iraqi prisoners and others! Spit. So infuriating!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The remains of a U.S. Navy pilot have been found and positively identified, more than 18 years after he was shot down over Iraq and became the first U.S. casualty of the first Gulf War, the U.S. Defense Department said on Sunday.
The Pentagon’s announcement resolved questions about the fate of Captain Michael Scott Speicher, who some believed had survived his shoot-down and been taken prisoner by Iraq.
Bone fragments and skeletal remains were recovered in the desert last week by U.S. Marines stationed in Iraq’s Anbar province, thanks to a tip from an Iraqi citizen, the department said. It said they were identified as Speicher’s by the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.
I remember when the Persian Gulf War started. My sister and I were sitting in a booth eating at Cole Farms in Gray, Maine when all of a sudden one of the waitresses came running out of the kitchen screaming, “The war has started!!!!!!”. We had two cousins in this war (Scotty was in the Army and Phil was in the Air Force on an aircraft carrier in the Gulf) in addition to my mother’s cousin too (Navy). It was a surreal moment. The whole place erupted in disbelief and then went silent. The silence was almost deafening, because it was as if we all were thinking of how war always ends up with dead people on both sides and no clear winner. We sat in silence crossing our fingers that the war wouldn’t go on too long. Or at least it felt that way. It was one of those moments when you just didn’t know what the future was going to hold.
Nice to know years later the first casualty of this war has been found and his family notified. I’m sure all this time they wondered if he was in a prison somewhere in Iraq or dead. I’m glad they now have some closure.
I knew it. I’ve said for years that if American troops were to leave Iraq, the Iraqis would step aside and let them go without interfering. Of course, the right wing neocons of America said that would never happen! They told us that Iraq would crumble into a heap of dung and would be lost without us, because the Iraqis loved having Americans in their country occupying it!

U.S. forces handed over formal control of Iraq’s major cities today (it is already Tuesday in Iraq), “a defining step toward ending the U.S. combat role in the country.” In celebration, Iraqis launched fireworks and “thousands attended a party in a park [in Baghdad] where singers performed patriotic songs. … Loudspeakers at police stations and military checkpoints played recordings of similar tunes throughout the day, as Iraqi military vehicles decorated with flowers and national flags patrolled the capital.” Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, who had called the withdrawal a “great victory,” declared June 30 a public holiday.

I’m telling you right now….Dick Cheney will have something to do with the nuclear attack that is coming to our nation. Why? Because he’s the one who mentioned recently that the next attack on our nation will be nuclear and he’s the one the morning of 9/11 who was making sure the attack went smoothly without any F-16/15 intervention. He’s truly an insane man and after mentioning Saddam Hussein and 9/11 in a majority of his sentences since the 9/11 attack, he’s the kind of guy who can lie at the drop of the hat and conspire an attack on our nation by noontime through his horrific connections throughout the world! Apparently it is President Obama’s desire to not have these newest photos released on May 28th of U.S. soldiers/CIA agents torturing prisoners. He may not get his way since the ACLU won their lawsuit demanding the photos be released. That said, if they’re not released, what would be the real reason as to why President Obama didn’t want them released? He says, the photos could “inflame anti-American opinion and put our troops in greater danger”.
The whole world has known that American soldiers under the advice and direction of the Bush Regime was torturing prisoners. We also know at least two prisoners died in our custody from being tortured. Photos of Abu Graib were released years ago too. None of this has resulted in our soldiers being attacked over the photos.
So, what is in these photos that is so graphic that we as a nation would be ashamed more than we already are? Well, according to one comment I’ve read online just in the last hour (HERE), Mike Malloy stated on his radio show that some of the photos contain images of U.S. soldiers TORTURING CHILDREN IN FRONT OF THEIR MOTHERS.

Our soldiers were so excited to meet the new President. Apparently, there were @ 300 soldiers outside the building who were unable to get inside to hear President Obama, so instead, they stood 5 to 8 soldiers deep and saluted President Obama’s motorcade as he drove to Camp Victory. Love it.
I’m sure our soldiers feel great knowing we have a SANE PRESIDENT at the helm now. I know I do. Of course, there are still Bush-holdovers at the Pentagon and in our government. Scary. Let’s hope some of these jackasses are sane and are not in direct contact with Dick Cheney!
Oh wait. Did I say first US casualty meaning the first US soldier to die in the Iraq occupation came home today, since the March 17, 2003 invasion of that nation? Silly me. He’s not the first. Sgt. Phillip Myers is one of over 4,000 US soldiers who have died in Iraq, but he’s the first US soldier to die in Iraq to come back to the United States for our country to see him getting the respect he deserves, because unfortunately up until today…..Americans were not allowed to see our war dead and their flag draped coffins. Nope. The right wing presidents a few decades ago decided that they wanted Americans to love the idea of war, so allowing us to see the flag draped coffins was a big no-no, because they wanted us to think war was fun and not so bad. Yeah, yeah, if we didn’t see the flag draped coffins then that means we don’t have to think about war and continue on with our lives! When asked about seeing the flag draped coffins of our soldiers who had died in Iraq, Barbara Bush said, “Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? It’s not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?”. Spit. Republicans don’t want you to see the real cost of war while they’re making money hand over fist, okay? They don’t want to feel guilty…..and they don’t.

So good for President Obama (and Bill Gates of the Pentagon!) to allow Americans to see our war dead! Barbara Bush and other right wing crazies like her must be livid! These soldiers sacrificed for our country and they deserve respect and honor from us. They don’t need to be hidden from sight so the fragile egos and minds of the uber wealthy can remain strong! President Obama gave a speech at Camp Lejeune on Friday where he told our troops that all but 35-50,000 troops will be out of Iraq by August 2010 and those soldiers held over will be returning to America during 2011. I’m sure the jackboot licking Bush neocons will consider this move by President Obama to be ‘cutting & running’ without stating America had won the illegal occupation of Iraq hands down, but we have to remember it was George Bush who signed a deal with the Iraqi government that our troops will be home by 2011. How come Bush didn’t do a press conference stating we had won the war and that he had signed this agreement as the proof? Coward.
Personally, we never should have gone into Iraq because this country had absolutely nothing to do with the attack on our nation on 9/11/01. Going into Iraq was the dream of Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, George Bush, and the other PNACers who desperately wanted the oil, because whoever controls the oil controls the planet. Basically, it was a financial transaction for the Oil Maggots and their contractors played out live for all of us to see. Many of our soldiers and Iraqis died for this financial transaction and still are. How much money have we spent in Iraq since the first boot hit the ground? Almost a TRILLION dollars and by the time we leave Iraq, it could be close to $3 TRILLION. And what have we gotten back? Nothing. We have a new nation in Iraq that is becoming very chummy with Iran (you know….America’s ‘enemy’) and the American contractors who got their no-bid contracts did shoddy work to leave behind for the Iraqis. In other words, it’s embarrassing!
Last night on Rachel Maddow’s show, she brought up the fact that Blackwater has changed it’s name to “Xe” which apparently is pronounced as, “Zee”. While Maddow made fun of the change and pointed out how the religious right and other neocons are NOW renaming & redefining names/words in their lives to make themselves feel better, she also made the point that “Xe” doesn’t sound so ”law breaky at all” (LOL) and then rolled her eyes…
So why out of all the names they could have renamed their company to, why the hell did they chose “Xe”? Tah dah! I know why Blackwater changed their name to “Xe”! Go to Google and type in ‘xe’ or ‘Xe’ or ‘XE’ and tell me what you get. That’s right! You get close to 100,000,000 hits of nothing! Yep, ole Blackwater who wants to change it’s tarnished image has now made it so you’ll never find out what they’re doing in a million years and it will take you just as long to find an article written about them if you wanted to try!
