"If by a “Liberal” they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties — someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a “Liberal,” then I’m proud to say I’m a “Liberal.” ~ John F. Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei asks, “How one can rig 11 million votes?”

ahmadinejadjoeliebermanwhitenoiseinsanitydotcomphoto

(image created by KayInMaine of White Noise Insanity)

Geeeeeee, how can one rig 11 million votes in favor of the guy who the Iranian people don’t want? Well Ayatollah, all that needs to be done is one person in charge of announcing the winner after looking at the vote counts, seeing that Ahmadinejad lost by 11 million votes, is not the actual winner, and then this person deciding to announce to the people, “Ahmadinejad is the winner!”. See? It’s very simple. This election reminds me of Ned Lamont & Joe Lieberman’s 2006 race where at one point in the voting Ned Lamont received the EXACT same amount of votes that one of Joe’s former opponents did in a previous race Joe was in! Yeah, yeah, it’s good to have friends in high places if you wanted to win your race when you clearly didn’t win it. It was as if Connecticut’s Secretary of State wanted Joe Lieberman to keep his seat for Israel so he said, “Screw it! I’m just going to announce that you won Joe even though you clearly didn’t, because the people of Connecticut wanted change and we don’t want that, right Joe?!”. Spit.

So Ayatollah, it’s very easy to “steal” or “rig” 11 million votes when you have people in power who decide the winner before the votes have been tallied, and even after they’re tallied and they see that Ahmadinejad clearly was the loser in the race…..they’ll just announce him as the winner anyway!

I have a feeling if the Ayatollah’s decision to announce Ahmadinejad as the winner today will result in the Iranian youth continuing their quest for change. It’s going to be a wild ride. We, as Americans, must stop demonizing the Iranians. It’s not them that is the problem…..it’s their leaders.

Harry Reid, Joe LIEberman, and the Democratic Party

(picture)

So the schmucks in the Democratic Party decided today to give the finger to the liberals, progressives, Democrats, and rational republicans who worked hard for 3 years now (the year before the 2006 election I’m talking about) to put Democrats in office to FORCE REAL CHANGE, and we find out today that they don’t give a shit about that nor do they really understand what it was about Joe LIEberman that has pissed us off.

For starters, Assholes of the Democratic Party, here’s a few reasons for you to fucking assholes ponder:

  • JOE IS NO LONGER A DEMOCRAT. HE HATES DEMOCRATS, THINKS WE’RE UNPATRIOTIC, AND THINKS DEMOCRATS & REPUBLICANS SHOULD BE KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE IN FOREIGN LANDS FOR FUCKING ISRAEL. “TO HELL WITH AMERICANS” IS JOE’S MANTRA SINCE 9/11/01
  • JOE REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE THE WHITE HOUSE AND THEIR UNDERLINGS FOR THEIR ROLE AFTER KATRINA. A little reminder….(CLICK HERE TO SEE WHAT BARACK OBAMA WAS DOING AFTER KATRINA)
  • JOE CAMPAIGNED FOR JOHN MCCAIN AND REFUSED TO ONCE SAY A KIND WORD ABOUT BARACK OBAMA THE WHOLE TIME HE WAS CAMPAIGNING FOR MCCAIN…..A BUSH SUPPORTER

Joe LIEberman spent the last 8 years along with Sen. Susan Collins, a republican, screwing the American people over by doing zero oversight of Halliburton, KBR, Betchel, Blackwater, and other contractors as the heads of the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee! Nothing! They did mock hearings and then did nothing. They are both an abomination and the official Brownshirts of the Bush Republican Party for crying out loud! As Jane Hamsher points out below, Joe LIEberman has not earned his right to hold a gavel of any fucking committee!!!!

Here’s what I heard Harry Reid saying today at his press conference right after he and the Democrats voted to keep Joe:

“We love Joe Lieberman. He equals change and we don’t care if he’s a republican, votes with the republicans, campaigns for the republicans, and thinks we Democrats are unpatriotic, because we’re not republicans….we just love him to death! In fact, you reporters don’t know this, but we Democrats got the chance to be butt fucked by Joe LIEberman today while we were voting for him, and I gotta tell ya….HE IS THE CHANGE OUR COUNTRY NEEDS RIGHT NOW! Holy, wow. He is the Change Meister and we are looking forward to him impeaching Barack Obama first chance, because we know Joe LIEberman loves us, our party, and wants to move forward. Moving backwards would mean….going after the Bush Admin for their High Crimes & Misdemeanors, but as Joe pointed out today while butt fucking us….IT’S NOT IMPORTANT! So again, we just wanted you all to know we love Joe more than life itself. And by the way, we listened to the American people too who are thrilled to have another republican on the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee, because these Americans are feeling the love of change!”

Howard Dean, who is the current Chair of the Democratic Party, had the following to say on a phone call to lefty bloggers today after the Democrats voted for Joe LIEberman to stay on the Senate Homeland Security committee (you’ll be astounded to find out Howard Dean didn’t do ANY INVESTIGATING of what Joe did as the Chair/Senior Member of the this committee! He knew nothing of what this man did and didn’t do!!!!!!!!!) courtesy of Jane Hamsher of FireDogLake who was one of the few who got the call (emphasis mine):

HOWARD DEAN: What I’m saying here is along comes Lieberman. He behaved very badly during the campaign and did some things inside the club that are unforgivable.

So what… if you run and get a mandate for reconciliation, is your first act to kick this guy out of the party?

Well, people of my generation think — yeah, damn right we should. But in the new spirit of reconciliation, which is why I think Barack Obama got elected by 66% of the under 35 vote, maybe it’s not the way.

I’m very willing to give the benefit of the doubt to the Senators and to Barack Obama on that one.

Do we want to have a big fight about what should happen to Joe Lieberman? I don’t think so. I think we want to have a bigfight about whether we’re going to have a decent health insurance program or a renewable energy program or not?

JANE HAMSHER: With all due respect, Governor Dean, we were all just told to go screw ourselves. That our concern for Barack Obama and that our concern about the war and everything else that we fought so hard for within the Democratic Party is meaningless.

And that Joe being happy, and giving into his threats — and he did threaten the Democrats in his press conference — is more important than we are. And so I don’t think it was a matter of “reconciliation,” I think it was…we were told to go Cheney ourselves. And I think that that really is the sentiment online.

HOWARD DEAN: I know, I’m sure they…I haven’t seen the blogs about this because it’s just happened…but I’m sure that the sentiment online is one of outrage. But I would line up with Barack. I don’t think you were told to go screw yourselves at all, I think he that has now got to practice what he preaches during two years of campaigs that he wants to bring America together.

As objectionable as Joe’s behavior was — and frankly unprincipled — I don’t think that this is the thing that should divide us, and I don’t think it’s about his vote for FISA or anything else. What kind of a tone do we want to set? Do we want to have a purge as the first thing we do? I don’t think so. I mean, I don’t know…

JANE HAMSHER: But the tone we just set, with all due respect, is that Joe’s lack of oversight on the Homeland Security Committee, and his refusing to investigate Katrina to pay back the Republicans, and his refusal to look into billions and billions of dollars worth of graft and theft is okay for political considerations. I think that’s the message you’re sending and I don’t think that’s the change people voted for.

HOWARD DEAN: Well I don’t think that stuff is okay but I have to say I’m not terribly familiar with his record. But you know I would agree, that’s not the change we voted for, I agree with that.
[]

JANE HAMSHER: Governor Dean, Greg Sargent just put up a post saying that you believe that the liberal blogosphere was motivated to take Joe Lieberman’s gavel away because of revenge. Is that what you think this was?

HOWARD DEAN: I think some of it was anger over his behavior, certainly I have anger over his behavior.

JANE HAMSHER: But I think the larger issue here is that Joe was not qualified for the gavel they gave him, and has proved himself unqualified over the past two years.

HOWARD DEAN: Look I’m not going to a dispute with you over that, because it sounds like you know his record much better than I. I never looked into what he was doing as the Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee. I was too busy figuring out how to win the election. So I don’t want to get into a debate on whether he’s qualified or not.

JANE HAMSHER: But do you think that’s something that the Senate should’ve looked at in deciding whether to give him the gavel or not?

HOWARD DEAN: Well, I hope they did.

Over the past year or so I’ve grappled with the idea of staying with the Democratic Party. One day I wanted to stay and then the next day I wanted to tell the party elites to fuck off. I then decided if I wanted to make change to my party I had to get involved, so starting late winter/early spring of this year, I joined my local county Democrats to do just that. We were very successful in electing Democrats locally, statewide and nationally. Proud we were of ourselves.

But now? I’m not feeling the love again. In fact, this week I’m going to withdraw from the Democratic Party and I am encouraging you to do the same, because if Howard Dean and Harry Reid aren’t listening to us, then how the fuck is that THE CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN? Huh? THIS IS NOT CHANGE…..THIS IS HOW THE PARTY ELDERS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN! I say…………..FUCK YOU!!!!

By withdrawing from the Democratic Party, YOU DON’T HAVE TO GIVE MONEY NOW! Woohoo! In fact, don’t ever give money to them again. I would love nothing more than to have the Democratic Elders crying in their rice pudding because the party is broke and wondering why they lost the 2010 races. Yep, Barack Obama hasn’t even been inaugruated yet and I’m already telling you fuckers to fuck off! And guess what? I’ll do the same thing to Barack Obama, who as of right now isn’t showing us any fucking change. If after he’s in office and decides to go down the path of Joe LIEberman and the republic party, then he will also be on the wrath of the liberals, progressives, REAL Democrats, and rational republicans!

And we wonder why I was a Dennis Kucinich supporter early on. Spit.

Guess who is supporting Barack Obama?

Senator John Kerry……….AND NED LAMONT. Wow! Two well-known liberals.

Here’s what Ned Lamont had to say about Obama:

I am announcing my support of Barack Obama for President because I am convinced that his forward-looking, progressive vision provides the best chance to enact meaningful reforms in the way Washington works.
>
Sen. Obama has the tone and temperament to bring out the best in our people and our nation, and to bring new coalitions together in support of the progressive policies we all want to see enacted. His campaign has already reflected this, not only by bringing hundreds of thousands of new voters of all ages to the polls, but by inspiring so many who are new to politics to become activists as well.

And here’s what John Kerry said about Obama:

“Who better than Barack Obama to bring new credibility to America’s role in the world and help restore our moral authority?” Mr. Kerry said, speaking at a rally at the College of Charleston. “Who better than Barack Obama to turn a new page in American politics, so that Democrats, independents and Republicans alike can look to the leadership that unites to find common ground.”

I’m starting to rethink Obama, though, it’s not set in stone yet for me.

I was at one of my customer’s homes recently and their 20 year old son was home from college, which gave us some time to talk about the election (I’ve cleaned their home for over 10 years, so I’ve seen him practically grow up. He’s like a son to me). He is soooooooooooo excited about Obama and talking with him I realized how good Obama will be for the next generation in our country, because Will is getting politically involved (he’s working to be a psychiatrist like his father and grandfather) for the first time in his life. Watching his face light up talking about Obama was very inspirational to me, I have to say, so when I heard that John Kerry (Dennis Kucinich too and now Ned Lamont) was throwing his support to Obama rather than Edwards….I’m really starting to rethink Obama entirely! Wow. I’m surprising myself here.

I’d like to know what it is about Edwards that these liberals are not liking about him? I wonder if it has to do with Edwards (and Hillary’s) vote for the Iraq war? Could be. At least Obama was speaking out loudly against it in the beginning.

Here’s what Kerry hinted around about Edwards and how he feels:

“There are other candidates in this race with whom I have worked and whom I respect,” Mr. Kerry said. “Each of them could be president tomorrow. But I believe that more than everyone else, Barack Obama can help our country turn the page and get America moving by uniting and ending the division that America faces. He has a superb talent, as all of you know, to communicate the best of our hopes and aspirations for American and the world.”

I have to agree…Edwards to me isn’t inspirational, you know, the kind of person who can get you out of the house and into the streets! He is as dull as Hillary is. Americans are feeling the need to be energized, because as we all know, the last eight years have been a real downer when it comes to the reputation of our country around the world, to the things that have been done in our name (torture, illegal occupations, killing of innocent people), and to our Constitution and the rights we hold dear to our hearts. Don’t even get me started on how the Bush Regime has effected us financially….the daily struggle for some has been awful. We need someone to perk us up and give us some hope for crying out loud! Maybe Dennis, John Kerry, and Lamont are right? Maybe Obama is the one who can lead us in a new positive direction!

What are your thoughts?

A few hours with two progressive greats…Chellie Pingree & Ned Lamont

What a day! I was in complete awe to be with Chellie Pingree & Ned Lamont for the afternoon yesterday. At one point I thought to myself that it’s the power of blogging that has brought me here in the company of these two great progressives. Blogging has been an amazing ride for me and it’s one that I don’t want to get off of right yet! It’s been a lot of fun so far.

The weather couldn’t have been better in Portland for Chellie’s mini-fundraiser. We (Chellie’s daughter Cessie also joined us for lunch) were able to have our lunch on the patio at Mim’s, which is a small restaurant on Commercial Street in Portland near the ocean (the other side of Commercial Street has the fish/lobster piers, more restaurants, and access to the ferries etc.). (The empty table on the right in the foreground of the following picture is the table we sat at) The afternoon sun with a light breeze coming off the ocean made for a perfect backdrop for Chellie’s future in politics. She is going to be the light we progressives and other Americans will need to move forward on Iraq, on healthcare, and on the environment, and she’ll be the light breeze at the right time when needed. It’s her levelheadedness, warmth, and compassion for these issues that is her beacon and will be the light of her campaign.

Chellie is definitely the salt of the earth for sure. She’s genuine and real.

Are you curious as to what Ned Lamont had for lunch? He had Egg’s Benedict, which is a much better lunch than what George Bush served the French president recently at Walker’s Point. Georgie served hamburgers and hot dogs for President Sarkozy. What? No lobstah?

Here’s my view across table at Mim’s. Not bad, huh?:

I sat directly across from Ned Lamont and I have to tell you….he is full of energy, curiosity, and passion in everything he believes in. While sitting together, we talked about his run against Joe Lieberman and I asked him how he felt when Lieberman won that election in the end. Ned basically said that moving forward and helping out other candidates for future races (he has also done some fundraising for Cong. Tom Allen to help kick Sen. Susan Collins out of office and will be doing it again for Allen this week while he’s in Maine) to get elected has become his main goal. Ned spoke highly of the Netroots throughout the whole day and he said a few times that it’s the Netroots who will continue to make change and hold our elected officials accountable for their votes and decisions they make. This is what he likes about Chellie and why he took time out of his vacation here in Maine (he has a summer place in North Haven, which is where Chellie lives) to raise money for her. She’s a real progressive who holds the same stances as Ned does about the Iraq occupation, about the corruption in DC, and about how the current crop of democrats in Washington need to be stronger against the right wing machine in DC or else they won’t have a job in the future. Both Chellie & Ned believe that pushing for more REAL progressives in government is about the only thing that will save the republic at this point. I agree with that!

After lunch, Chellie, Ned, and I decided to walk to the Space Gallery where her fundraiser was held. On the way is the Maine Historical Society and Ned asked Chellie if it would be okay to stop in and take a look inside. She said, “Sure”, and off we all went! It was 15 minutes before show time, but that didn’t stop Ned’s continued curiosity about Maine, Portland, and what makes our city/state tick. So…..we walk inside and there are two men sitting behind the counter looking bored beyond tears. Chellie & Ned immediately introduce themselves and the guy in the blue shirt does most of the chatting with them. The guy sitting down? Not so much. He hardly says a word or even moves, which I found to be so funny, but then again, it was Sunday and he was probably in a coma from boredom, because really…I bet no one but us had entered the building all day! Anywho…Ned paid the $9.00 for us to look at the Longfellow exhibit. We slapped our entry sticker on our shirts and went in.

Note to self: When Ned Lamont is in town, brush up on your Maine history prior to his arrival! Oh gawd.

Ned was so curious about Longfellow that at one point I thought my head was going to spin off it’s axis and fall onto the floor from all the questions he was asking! Luckily, Chellie was there to answer most of his questions (another reason why I’ll be voting for her in 2008! She’s smart!), because all I really know about Longfellow is he was a great poet, but other than that, I don’t remember his history at all (it’s studied in the lower grades here in Maine). Oopsie. I was thinking as Ned was reeling off his conveyor-belt-questions that a laptop & Google would be good right about now. Actually, it was great fun being in his midst and witnessing his zest and curiosity about everything!

Before we left the Longfellow exhibit, I asked Ned if I could take his picture with *motioning with eyes* that woman in the dress *motioning with eyes* over there and he gave me this action:

…and then we were off to the fundraiser. :-)

(Believe it or not…the dress in this picture is @ 200 years old and it could literally be worn today and no one would think that it’s ancient! The design, the fabric, and the stitching was incredibly modern by today’s standards.)

Space Gallery is where Chellie’s fundraiser was held (Chellie also announced the opening of her new office on Congress Street in Portland and darn it…I didn’t take a picture of it! I will at some point and will post it). Space is a neat place. It’s a place for local artists to rent to introduce their artwork, their music, and poetry to the people of Portland, or it can be rented for a fundraiser of any kind. What a great concept this place is! Renting space for self-promotion may already be done in other cities across the nation, but for Portland, I think it adds to the character of the city. Portland truly enjoys their local artists of all kinds. And plus, we love Chellie, so her campaign using this space in Portland is definitely a nice fit. :-)

I would say about 25 people showed up to Chellie’s fundraiser, but for a hot Sunday afternoon when most people would be thinking of doing other things, I thought the turnout was pretty good.

Chellie is a terrific speaker and as usual I found myself nodding to everything she said. Like for instance, she likes the idea of a real universal healthcare system; I nodded. She wants our troops home from a war that never should have happened in the first place; I nodded in agreement. Chellie knows that Americans are tired of the ’same ole, same ole’ in Washington and are craving change; I nodded. She also understands that our nation currently has zero respect around the world because of the actions of the Bush Administration and she understands that our country cannot be safe because of it; I nodded once again. Chellie is the kind of person who loves the idea of sitting down with people and hashing out ideas to make positive change and when she is speaking to a crowd, you get the feeling at times that she wants to do just that right in the middle of her speech! I’m serious. She is such a great speaker and she brings you in with her every word which is what a good, rational, person does. Salt of the earth that Ms. Chellie is. ;-)

Here’s a picture of Chellie, Mainefem of Turn Maine Blue, moi, and Ned at the fundraiser…

By the way, I did not wrap my leg around Ned while hugging him! Though, I did think about it.

Ned’s energy level is the same energy level that is reflected by a winning team during the game and at the end of the night after the game is won: constant high-fiving each other & belly bumping. He truly is on ‘high-five’ mode constantly, though, he doesn’t actually high-five anyone. Does that make sense? Let me put it this way…being around him you just want to run up and hug him and say, “Great game Ned!”, even if he’s knitting a sweater. That’s how much energy this man gives off when he’s in a room. I’m serious.

It was so wonderful being with Chellie & Ned for the afternoon yesterday. The two of them are a benefit to our country no matter what they are doing in their lives from one moment to the next. I get the feeling that neither of them have ever said to themselves, “I can’t believe I just wasted 5 minutes of my life doing ____ or ____”. I bet neither one of them has wasted a minute of their lives doing something that wasn’t productive or wasn’t positive.

After the fundraiser, Chellie & Ned left to head back to North Haven, so I asked Mainefem if she wanted to go out for a drink, since she had driven down from the Bangor area (2 hours or so away). I figured she’d probably would like to spend some time here before heading back to her hometown. We went to the Foreside Tavern in Falmouth, Maine, which is only a few minutes from Portland, and hung out there for a couple of hours. We had a blast. She and I are two peas in a pod, because we are both feminists, we smoke, and we both want Chellie Pingree & Tom Allen to be representing our state in 2008! Hey, not a bad combo I must say. It could be worse….only one of us could be a smoker. ;-) I took this picture of her outside the restaurant when we were having one of our smoke breaks. We gibber-gabbered all night, because quite frankly, that’s what we women do, right, because we’re good at it. Right?

It truly was a wonderful afternoon and evening with all of you! I am so thankful that I could be a part of it. Without political blogging in my life, I wouldn’t have had the chance to meet all these wonderful people. What a day it was!

Today I’ll be hanging out with Ned Lamont & Chellie Pingree…

(CONTRIBUTE TO CHELLIE PINGREE’S CAMPAIGN BY CLICKING HERE)

O.M.G!!!! I still can’t believe it.

*pouring large amounts of Pepto Bismol down my throat*

I am so excited about today that I can’t even think straight!

And this is not helping my stomach either…

As luck would have it, my landlord called me a few days ago to tell me that the hot water will be shut off for Sunday & Monday (my two busiest days this week, of course), because the oil tank connected to my apartment sprung a leak a few days ago. What would normally be a couple hour project will now be a 2-day project because the oil tank is in an enclosed room attached to the outside of this building. It doesn’t have a window or a door. It’s just a tight room with an oil tank in it and to replace it, they have to tear one of the walls off to do it. Fun, huh? Let’s just say I can’t wait to move into my new home in a couple of weeks that I purchased back in June and get away from this place!

Anywho….

Ned & Chellie will start their day out in Harpswell for a fundraiser and then they will be coming to Portland early this afternoon for lunch (I’ll be having lunch with the two of them…*faint*), and then after lunch, we will proceed to the Space Gallery for their last fundraiser of the day. (CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAILS)

Mainefem of Turn Maine Blue will be at the fundraiser today and I can’t wait to meet her too! Should be a lot of fun. Her and I are two peas in a pod. :-)

What an honor it is to be hanging out with two of my most favorite progressives! I will be posting pictures from today either tonight or tomorrow. If you’re in the Portland area today, stop by the Space Gallery to give Chellie & Ned a hug and some MONEY. Woohoo! Money is what makes every campaign go around, so even if you can only give a little…that’s okay! Every little bit helps.

Chellie Pingree & Ned Lamont are coming to Portland, Maine

Ned Lamont is coming this Sunday to help raise money for Chellie Pingree and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Woohoo! What a treat it will be to be in the same room as these two. I cannot wait.

(((((HUGGING NED)))))

Remember Ned Lamont? He was the guy who successfully kicked Joe Lieberman to the curb and out of the Democratic Party before the 2006 mid-term election. I’d like to ask Ned on Sunday, “If you could have…would you have continued kicking Lieberman until he was out of the country and out of the Universe?”.

I wished Ned had! *kicking trash can down the stairs* Darn it!

Chellie Pingree almost kicked Sen. Susan Collins to the curb back in 2002 when she ran against her and let it be known that at that time Pingree was talking about how the Iraq occupation was unjust and not right, while Susan Collins was sporting her newest pair of jackboots and was rallying the masses with her war cries. Nothing has changed either! Pingree is a progressive while Collins is still a regressive.

Chellie Pingree is the best choice for replacing future Senator Tom Allen! Even Tom Allen knew back then that authorizing the use of force against Iraq was the wrong path and he didn’t vote for it. Had Chellie been representing our state back then you can bet your sweet bippy that she would have voted the same way.

From Chellie Pingree For Congress email:

I’ve known Ned for a long time, and was so proud to watch him stand up for real Democratic values during his campaign. I’m honored to have him here helping me out!

Two great events with
Ned Lamont

>
11:30am – 1:00pm
Home of Amy & Thomas Haible
123 Spy Rock Road
Harpswell, Maine
>
4:00pm – 5:30pm
Space Gallery
538 Congress Street
Portland, Maine

How exciting is this that the Netroots favorite progressive (Mr. Ned) is going to be fundraising money for our other favorite progressive….Chellie Pingree (who will soon be Maine’s newest Congressman for the 1st District, because she will be replacing Congressman Tom Allen’s seat (another progressive!) in 2008)? It’s very exciting!

Here’s what Chellie and the other candidates have raised for money so far:

Pingree had a fundraising lead among the candidates who filed mid-year reports with the FEC. She showed $233,000 in receipts, with a mix of donations from within Maine and from around the nation. Pingree campaign manager Lisa Prosienski said out-of-state donations “don’t hurt the campaign,” adding that the organization is proud of its sizable number of financial supporters who include online donors.
>
Running second in early campaign funds, with $171,000 through June 30, is York County District Attorney Mark Lawrence, who earned some gratitude among fellow Democrats for his willingness to run — and suffer a landslide defeat — in 2000 at the hands of Snowe, the enormously popular centrist Republican senior senator.
>
Adam Cote, a Portland lawyer and Iraq war veteran, reported $114,000 in receipts; Michael Brennan, like Pingree a former state Senate majority leader, has $63,000.

We need to keep Chellie Pingree on top, because she has the right contacts in Washington, DC already and is the seasoned and experienced politician who can hit the ground running in 2008 for us! If you live in Maine and have the time to come out this Sunday, please do. Woohoo!

Ned Lamont is supporting Tom Allen for the 2008 race!

Woohoo! Fantastic. *skipping, jumping, throwing rose petals & kisses into the air*

Thanks Ned. :-)

The mood of the nation before the 2006 mid-term election was electrifying, because Americans wanted change. Ned Lamont’s campaign in Connecticut against Joe Lieberman (the republican on the ticket didn’t have a chance, so it was a race between Ned & Joe) we all thought would reflect how we were feeling: ANYONE WHO SUPPORTED BUSH OR HIS POLICIES WAS OUT. Well, we all know Joe Lieberman resorted to his neocon ways by lying about Ned Lamont and he also had the support of republicans in the state and that’s why he “won” (though, I still don’t think he did and I don’t care what anyone says either).

So….

I am so excited that Ned Lamont is going on record to support Tom Allen’s race for the Senate in 2008! Allen is going up against Susan Collins (who is friends with Joe Lieberman and she looooooooooves Bush’s policies) and in my opinion having Ned Lamont on his side will not only piss off Joe Lieberman but it will be terrific in creating the same electricity that voters were feeling before the 2006 mid-term election. Joe Lieberman doesn’t have the same positive energy behind him that Ned Lamont does. Joe Lieberman projects “more of the same” and Lamont (and Allen of course!) projects “change for the betterment of our country!” that we Americans are longing for.

(WATB = Whiny Ass Titty Baby)

Here is an excerpt from Ned Lamont’s diary at DailyKos:

I am doing whatever I can to help Tom in his race, not only because he’d be a terrific Senator for his state, but because it’s increasingly clear that we need more than 50 Democrats in the Senate in order to significantly change the course we are on as a country.
>
Sen. Collins is facing a decision this fall, having up until now voted consistently in favor of failed policies on Iraq. Sen. Lieberman is helping her out because he expects her to continue to vote this way. Tom Allen – and the voters of Maine – want this war to end. The contrast is clear.
>
While Sen. Lieberman works to keep the Democratic margin in the Senate as slim as possible, please join me in helping to elect Tom Allen as our 51st Democratic senator in 2008.

He’s right of course! Not only do the democrats of this country want change in the layout of the Senate, but we also want more SENATORS IN THE SENATE WHO ARE AGAINST THE IRAQ OCCUPATION AND WHO NEVER VOTED FOR IT IN THE BEGINNING. Tom Allen did not vote for the use of force against Iraq in the beginning and he is wanting the opportunity to do more to change the course now that we are there and to bring our troops home in a responsible manner. Susan Collins wants more of the same and that is why she has Joe Lieberman raising money for her. The two of them are jackboot lickers and Americans are tired of their voice, because they only speak for a very small percentage of the population.

If you can spare it, please give $5, $10, $25, $50, or whatever you can afford to Tom Allen’s campaign: (CLICK HERE)!
