QUOTE OF THE DAY:
GLENN BECK AT CPAC 2010:
‘Hello, my name is the Republican Party, and I’ve got a problem. I’m addicted to spending and big government…I’m addicted to spending and I just don’t want to spend today.’

"If by a “Liberal” they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties — someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a “Liberal,” then I’m proud to say I’m a “Liberal.” ~ John F. Kennedy, 1960

With incumbent republicans, such as, Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska, Sen. Norm Coleman of Minnesota, and Sen. Saxby Chambliss of Georgia all hoping for a miracle in their re-elections this year, well, it’s not looking so good for them. Ha ha. If the Democrats (Mayor Mark Begich, Al Franken, and Jim Martin respectively), do win these Senate seats, it looks like the Democrats could get 60 seats in the Senate after all…
…and wouldn’t that burn the asses of Sen. Susan Collins & Sen. Joe Lieberman to no end! Gawd I hope so. LIEberman will be facing his smackdown next week when the Democrats come together vote to either keep him as the Chair of the Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee or to take him off. Of course, myself and others are hoping the Democrats do the right thing by sending this asshole to pasture, but even if they do rightly punish him for actions over the last 2 years, Joe “The Cry Baby” LIEberman will most likely bolt to the republicans where he’s felt comfortable for the past 8 years anyways. And you know what? Good! Bye Joe! Go join the Traitor War Party! We won’t miss ya!
Sen. Susan Collins, when asked this year why she’s running for a 3rd term when she was very clear years ago that she’d only run for 2 terms and then would go on with her life, said in normal Collins style, that she likes the power she has, meaning, with her and LIEberman being on the Homeland Security Committee, they’ve been able to protect the Bush Regime for years and understand how powerful their Committee positions are. And, I’m sure Collins was hoping that her votes in the Senate starting in 2009 would also have power for or against the Democrats. Well, if there ends up being 60 Democratic seats in the Senate, Collins will become irrelevent! Oh please let her and Joe become completely irrelevent!!!!
For President Obama in 2009 to get anything done, he’s going to need one of two things or both:
1) 60 or more Democratic seats in the Senate
2) Republicans willing to put COUNTRY FIRST by voting in favor of Democratic bills that help our economy
It will be interesting to see which republicans in the Senate will be voting to redeem themselves after 8 years of not putting country first. Should be fun.

Last night my son was on Photobucket and found this picture. How cute! I thought it would be a good way to start the day after the trauma of having to look at Mean Jean’s photo last night on the previous post.
Keep your eyes peeled on the Senate today (C-SPAN 2) . Chris Dodd & Russ Feingold are smacking around Harry Reid about the FISA bill. Oh boy! FireDogLake is a good place to also keep abreast as to what is going on.
Have a great day!

Yep, it sure is, so much so, we’re up to the 1400th bag so far! Smelly.
At one point tonight, which was so much fun, the democrats asked the Sergeant-at-Arms to round up the Senators who were not present in the chamber. Apparently in the past, some Senators have actually been arrested and literally dragged to the Senate chamber to be present for the Quorum call!
(From Talking Points Memo) It happened in 1988:
Here’s why: Senate rules have a provision for dealing with things like this. As Joan notes, even if the Republicans were not to show up, Dems would be able to perhaps force them to, Binder notes. Under Senate rules, Reid would be able to ask the Sergeant-at-arms to go get the missing GOP Senators and bring them back to the Senate. She points to this particular Senate reg:
>
Whenever upon such roll call it shall be ascertained that a quorum is not present, a majority of the Senators present may direct the Sergeant at Arms to request, and, when necessary, to compel the attendance of the absent Senators…
>
And yes, this has apparently happened before, in 1988, when Majority Leader Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., ordered round-the-clock Senate sessions that were boycotted by Republicans. Charlie Cook recounts that Byrd ordered the Senate’s sergeant-at-arms to arrest absent senators and bring them to the floor. Capitol cops arrested Sen. Robert Packwood, R-Ore., and even removed him from a locked Senate office and carried him onto the Senate floor, Cook writes.
>
Reid hasn’t said whether he’ll do this. But if he did, imagine the storyline…the Sergeant-at-Arms going out to chase down awol Republican Senators refusing to show up for a debate on the Iraq War. Seems like a narrative that Reid, who likes a bit of drama, might not mind all that much.
Harry Reid can actually do this anytime tonight when he wants to! I love it. I hope he uses this power often, with force, and with a big ole smirk on his face all night long!

Spits of rage…
