QUOTE OF THE DAY:

<br />

GLENN BECK AT CPAC 2010: ‘Hello, my name is the Republican Party, and I’ve got a problem. I’m addicted to spending and big government…I’m addicted to spending and I just don’t want to spend today.’ (CLICK HERE FOR LINK TO QUOTE)

"If by a “Liberal” they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties — someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a “Liberal,” then I’m proud to say I’m a “Liberal.” ~ John F. Kennedy, 1960

Only a Democrat would propose cutting and freezing Congress’ yearly wage!

thumbsup

Congresswoman Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick has brought forth a bill to cut Congress’ yearly wage by $8700 and to put a freeze on their pay for each year after. Sounds good to me, but you know there has got to be a few republicans seething at the idea! So far there has been bipartisan support, but again, you just knew a few republican heads have exploded over this move! I love it.

Results the corporate owned MSM are conveniently ignoring

Yes the Virginia Governor went to the GOPer, but the brain dead corporate owned MSM (and the reich wing knuckle draggers) are totally ignoring a real historical fact, since 1978, the party winning the previous presidential election loses the governors house;

John N. Dalton, January 14, 1978, January 16, 1982, Republican, (Jimmy Carter had won the white house)

Chuck Robb, January 16, 1982, January 18, 1986, Democratic (Ronald Reagan had won the white house)

Gerald L. Baliles, January 18, 1986, January 14, 1990< , Democratic (Ronald Reagan had won the white house)

Douglas Wilder, January 14, 1990, January 15, 1994, Democratic, (George H W Bush had won the white house)

George Allen , January 15, 1994, January 17, 1998, Republican, (Bill Clinton had won the white house)

Jim Gilmore, January 17, 1998, January 12, 2002, Republican, (Bill Clinton had won the white house)

Mark Warner, January 12, 2002, January 14, 2006, Democratic, (George W Bush had won the white house)

Tim Kaine, January 14, 2006, Incumbent, Democratic, (George W Bush had won the white house)

Bob McDonnell, January 2010, Governor-Elect, Republican, (Barack Obama had won the white house)

and Deeds sucked as a campaigner.

In New Jersey, Corzine forgot he wasn’t still the head of Goldman Sachs. So you had a rich Democrat who thought he could buy what he wanted and a corrupt Republican, and the voters (who turned out) went with corruption over greed this time. BTW New Jersey has had a Republican Governor for 16 of the past 28 years, and has a similar trend to Virginia, picking an opposite party to the white house for their governor (Va nine election cycles, NJ six election cycles).. Wanna bet the GOPer corrupt crook don’t get reelected?

End of GOPer victory dance, plain and simple. PS both the GOPers, in Va and NJ didn’t want the fat drug addicted bloviater nor the wasilla hill billy campaignin’ fur them ….. (they both tried to MODERATE their positions to win votes)

The place the idiots brigade did stick their ignorant noses in?

In the 23rd congressional race, the democratic candidate won for the first time since 1871,

YES, I said 1871 … (138 years).

Way to go teabaggers, dumb Alaskan quitters, astroturf clowns ……..

Good try at retaking congress by handing a seat safe for well over a century to the democratic party.

Keep up the good work people, maybe you’ll eventually elect enough democrats with your brain dead screeching and lying, the democrats will finally realize the country in rejecting you time and time again.

In California, a progressive democrat won. A seat that used to be middle of the road, trading from centrist republican to centrist democrat, went to a openly progressive individual, so the blue dogs lost another one in the house, let alone the teabaggers wet dreams slippin’ away.

As for the ballot initiative #1 in Maine hard loss, but things weren’t all bad everywhere.

In Chapel Hill, North Carolina the people elected an openly gay mayor,

Yes, I said Chapel Hill, NORTH CAROLINA, in the heart of the supposed bible belt ……. doesn’t portent well for the hate mongers beating on their bibles does it?

As Grant has informed us, Houston, Texas saw an openly gay women come in first in their mayoral election (there will be a runoff).

In Canton, Ohio, a gay activist Eric Resnick won a seat on the Board of Education. (Oh my god, the fundies will go apeshit won’t they?)

Kalamazoo, Michigan passed an anti-discrimination measure that protects people from discrimination based on sexual orientation.

The biggest news, is Washington State voters approved their referendum 71, basically the opposite of the Maine decision. The fundie attempt to block the civil rights of American citizens lost in Washington.

So while the GOPers will be very shrill claiming they have turned things around their victories are hollow, and fleeting.

The governors races they are touting historically they should have won, (especially in VA) the congressional races in NY and CA are real loses for them. And openly gay candidates winning in North Carolina and Texas says the voters don’t always accept the hate filled fundies screeching ……

Because in referendums about taxes, w-e-l-l-l-l, the teabaggers got their asses handed to them;

In Maine they lost ;

Question 2 (Citizen Initiative): “Do you want to cut the rate of the municipal excise tax by an average of 55% on motor vehicles less than six years old and exempt hybrid and other alternative-energy and highly fuel-efficient motor vehicles from sales tax and three years of excise tax?” FAILED

Question 4 (Citizen Initiative): “Do you want to change the existing formulas that limit state and local government spending and require voter approval by referendum for spending over those limits and for increases in state taxes?” FAILED

Question 5 (Citizen Initiative): “Do you want to change the medical marijuana laws to allow treatment of more medical conditions and to create a regulated system of distribution?” PASSED

Question 6 (Bond Issue): “Do you favor a $71,250,000 bond issue for improvements to highways and bridges, airports, public transit facilities, ferry and port facilities, including port and harbor structures, as well as funds for the LifeFlight Foundation that will make the State eligible for over $148,000,000 in federal and other matching funds?” PASSED

No so good fur the tea baggers was it?

Washington State also roundly rejected I-1033 (This measure would limit growth in state revenues deposited in funds subject to the state expenditure limit, and limit growth in county and city revenues deposited into the county and city current expense funds. The limit would be adjusted based on annual growth in inflation and population. The limit also would apply to revenues transferred out of these funds. The limit would exclude voter-approved revenue increases. Revenues above the limit would reduce property tax levies. Should this measure be enacted into law?)

All in all not the defeat the corporate owned MSM or dumb as dirt teabaggers claim it is.

Here’s hopin’ the stupid reich wing teabaggers and their astroturf greedy manipulators keep rippin’ the republiscum party apart trying to get Real Republiscum, not RINO’s elected, it worked real good this time. (IE New York State has two republican members of congress, New England has NO members of Congress from the party of NO, and according to the clowns running the show fur the teabaggers, just two RINOs in the senate. Hope they keep a drivin’ the RINO’s out helps the rest of the country cause they keep losing when they do.

The House Judiciary Committee has voted along with 3 republicans to strip federal antitrust regulations!

We’re taking baby steps in health care reform, but this is a major step in finally coming down on the out of control health insurance companies who have raked Americans clean financially for years now!

thumbsup

From the Washington Post:

The House Judiciary Committee voted Wednesday to strip federal antitrust protections shielding health insurers from investigations into price fixing and other business practices, the first step in a legislative bid to clamp down on the much-maligned industry.

Although Democrats have led the repeal push in recent weeks, the committee’s 20-9 vote came with the support of three Republicans. The legislation would repeal portions of the 1945 McCarran-Ferguson Act that allows states to regulate health insurance providers without federal intervention. But critics of the law say that 64 years after its passage, the result has been regional monopolies that inflate premiums and discriminate against people based on their health status, gender and other factors.

I will never forget working for a health insurance company (they also did life insurance and short term disability) back in the late 1980’s when AIDS/HIV was around. The national company I worked for decided to go up on the price on the policies of those with AIDS/HIV, because they knew eventually the customer would not be able to afford to continue to insure themselves. And they were right! Spit. Awful, awful, awful manipulating people lives like this!

The people of Massachusetts show their love and respect for Senator Ted Kennedy…

First off, Howie Carr of WRKO Radio out of Boston was up to his usual hatefulness against Sen. Ted Kennedy yesterday on his show. Yes, we get that you hate the man Howie. You’ve summed up his whole life after one night of drinking that ended up with the death of a woman. He was more than that night Howie and you know it. Anyway…

The people of Massachusetts loved Ted Kennedy. He was their favorite Catholic, their favorite Senator, their favorite neighbor, and their favorite advocate & friend. Yesterday they paid their respects to him not caring one iota what Howie Carr or other vile pieces of shit had to say.

Here’s a beautiful tribute I found on YouTube that best captures the mood, the love, the day he took his last ride to Boston, and the respect for a man that deserved every ounce of affection he got by the people who loved him most, and who will get more over the next few days (the end of the video ends abruptly so don’t be surprised!):

The last time I saw this much outpouring of love for one person was when Princess Diana died. Remember the people standing along the route to her home as her casket passed by and they were crying and throwing flowers at the hearse? I remember bawling my eyes out! I loved her. I loved Ted Kennedy too and the people of Massachusetts today showed that they loved him way more! It was such a beautiful sight to see them standing on the side of the road waiting for their Senator just so they could applaud him one last time as he briefly passed by….

All walks of life waiting for their friend & Senator…

Beautiful tribute to a beautiful man.

Again, if you’re interested….YOU CAN CLICK HERE TO VIEW A LIVE FEED OF TED KENNEDY LYING IN REPOSE IN BOSTON.

Senator Ted Kennedy, the Great Lion who worked tirelessly for children & working people, has died

The Great Lion’s torch is lit and has now been passed on. Hold it up high President Obama in honor of the greatest Senator to ever live…

Man, oh man. I knew the other day when I heard on the radio that Teddy (or his family) had sent a letter to the Governor…his days were limited. I felt it in my heart. For many of us, we’ve had a deep connection to the Great Lion and just like an ailing family member, we know when the end is near. I couldn’t even do THIS POST the other day, because the thought of him dying now would be too much to bear! Access to health care for all Americans, especially for children and for the hard working Americans, was a lifelong passion to him. Dying now would be a travesty! And it is. I’m a mess.

We love you Ted. May you rest in peace now, because as we look over your life today, we will know that you never ever ever ever stopped working for the people who mattered. You could have spent your life with all your money doing what is wrong….yes, you could have lived your life as a republican….but you chose not to! You instead spent your life with meaning and with a purpose for the common good of all.

I remember when you pointed out the selfishness of the republicans for trying once again to block minimum wage or screaming about health care for children and all Americans! You never stopped, Uncle Teddy! And you were always right about what you said. You said it beautifully too and you always had the children and hard working Americans in the back of your head when you took the republicans to task.

But most of all, we remember your words at your brothah Robert Kennedy’s funeral after he was gunned down by a madman. The words you spoke then could be used for you today….

You had moral courage in the face of Monsters, Teddy. When you saw suffering you tried to heal it! We thank you and will never forget! We love you. You touched all of us. May you RIP now.

400 interviews in each American state over a period of 6 months in 2009 is all the proof we need to know conservatives are outranking liberals in these states?

I’m sure you’ve heard the right wingers spouting recently that after 6 months of President Obama being in the White House Americans are completely doing away with the Democratic Party and are rushing to the republic party now. They’re basing their ‘facts’ on a Gallop Poll entitled

Political Ideology: “Conservative” Label Prevails in the South

Conservatives outnumber liberals in nearly every state, but not in D.C.

This is all the “proof” the neocons need to be able to go around the country now “to prove” that the violent minority in this country (conservatives) are who Americans want in charge!

From the same poll (emphasis mine):

These findings are based on Americans’ answers to a question asking whether their political views are very conservative, conservative, moderate, liberal, or very liberal. The data come from Gallup Daily tracking in the first half of 2009, encompassing interviews with more than 160,000 U.S. adults, with a minimum of 400 interviews for each state (and 300 in the District of Columbia).

Only 400 people of each state over the course of 6 months total was asked if they their thinking was more liberal or conservative! Yeah, yeah, out of 300 million people, it’s the 20,000 (plus the 300 polled in Washington, DC!) that makes all the difference and are the final nail in the Democrat’s coffin!! And the 140,000 other adults that Gallop can’t say for sure were or were not interviewed for this poll? Pay no attention! Did they guess? Maybe! This could be why Gallop reported the following at the end of their article:

“In addition to sampling error, question wording and practical difficulties in conducting surveys can introduce error or bias into the findings of public opinion polls.”

Here’s the polling map created by Gallop to show the breakdown of the states and where they stand:

gallopmidyearpollliberalsvsconservatives2009

Can we add up the population of the “Most Conservative/More Conservative” states and compare them to the “Somewhat Conservative/Less Conservative/Liberal” states please!!! This poll was obviously designed to give the violent right wingers an edge, because honestly, when you read the data info and you look at this map, it appears that the conservative movement is still flat on it’s face!

This is why I really hate polls, because they can be easily manipulated for a preferred outcome. We all know the right wingers love using numbers & percentages too to dupe their supporters. I can’t remember the republican representative’s name that came on Glenn Beck’s show a couple months ago to chit chat, but he was throwing out percentages and numbers left and right and it was almost impossible to understand what he was saying and to follow along. Well, that’s what the right wingers do. They set out to confuse as this current Gallop poll indicates. Confusion and fear is all they know.

I say, just ignore the polls. Talk to your neighbors and family instead to get a better idea of what is happening in your own state. Let’s put it this way, the republicans in my state still don’t have any enthusiasm despite what the right wing talk show hosts would like for us to believe. The following photo was taken by the Chair of the Oxford County Democrats within the last week or two at a town market. She explained that this table looked like this for most of the day….

oxfordcountyrepublicansareano-show2009

LOL! See? She said at one point a republican market-goer got a piece of candy for stopping by this table, but he said he never got his question answered! Nice.

I wonder if Arlen Specter will become a republican mole inside the Democratic Caucus?

Wouldn’t surprise me. I don’t trust republicans and their intentions at all. On the surface, Specter wants us to believe that he is in opposition to the republican party ideology and is also becoming a Democrat so he can win his re-election.

Poppycock.

Arlen Specter is the same guy who came up with the “magic bullet theory” after John F. Kennedy was assassinated. He’s not to be trusted because he’s more into confusing & diverting attention away from his party members rather than the truth getting out. I can see Specter reporting back to the republicans on what he learns in the Democratic Caucus. Trust me on this. We will know if suddenly the republicans become reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal clever after 8 years of being a bunch of ninny obstructionist bozos. Yep, we will know if Specter is reporting back what strategies he’s learned inside the Democratic Caucus.

What are your thoughts on Specter defecting to the Democratic Party?

Should we tell Rachel Maddow that the ‘conservadems’ aren’t only in the Congress?

They’re also online, Rachel. I know, I know you can’t believe this, because why would democrats online go after real Liberals & Democrats online, especially over the last two years and now when the Democratic Party needed the strength of unity? Well, it’s very simple Rachel. It’s all about power and being #1. Yes, I know it’s sad, but there are some ‘conservadems’ online who band themselves to the backs of neocons online to make themselves appear tougher than they are…especially when they’re going after a Liberal they’re insanely jealous of. And you know what Rachel? The conservadems in the Congress are no different. They’re not so much doing it out of insane jealousy, but rather, they just want the right wingers to love them. They want to appear tough by going after the Democratic President Barack Obama in the hopes that the right wing American Taliban members in Congress will think they have buddies and are as tough as they are. See? The online conservadems think that if they go after the real Liberals & Democrats online (along with their Pinko BackUp Dancers in tow), then they can reserve themselves a spot at the top!

And don’t worry! As I said many times over on FireDogLake (who have no conservadems by the way), Rachel, the Democrats in the Congress will have President Obama impeached within 6 months to a year of taking power to show the right wingers how to impeach a President! Yeah, yeah, they’ll go after their own all because they want to appear tougher than they are! They’ll have President Obama impeached for not paying for pens or pencils or something so stupid we will smack our forehead until it bleeds.

It’s pathetic really. But then again, so are the conservadems no matter where they’re found.

Neocon heads must be exploding after the last 24 hours!

What a wonderful day because I know the neocon heads must be exploding! President Obama and the Democrats have been very, very, very busy over the last 24 hours…

I had a feeling President Obama would start off on the left foot, even though many online had pretty much said he would be worse than George W. Bush. Well, there may be times when we are not happy with some of the decisions Obama makes, but I think we are going to be more surprised than not over what he does in the next 2-4 years. He has a huge shit pile to handle right now as we know, but I think the Democrats and a few republicans will do the right thing to get our nation back on track.  The Democrats have some control right now and they had better listen to the American people who made this control possible!
