As I was listening to Katy cry this morning on my radio as I drove to work and her saying that she decided to leave her bed (from her husband’s side no less!) to email Glenn Beck her feelings, I just knew there was more to the story of Katy Abram than just, “a stay-at-home Mom of 2 who is frustrated about the direction of our country”!

Katy was asked by Lawrence O’Donnell the other night what brought her to the town hall meeting and she said she was just frustrated. No other reason except that…and well…..she sees America quickly becoming a Socialist Russia. She has also stated that she is her own person and that she only listens & observes and doesn’t take direction from anyone but herself. She said she doesn’t watch ‘the shows’ or listen to the radio. Well, my post this morning was questioning whether or not she had been listening to Glenn Beck for awhile now because the rage she’s feeling is the same kind of crap Glenn Beck is yelling about everyday (you know, Obama is the anti-Christ, Obama is the New Hitler, Obama might be an American, Armed revolutions are good)!
We’re now finding out (and again…..thanks Grant for the link!) that ole Katy Abram has been part of Beck’s 9/12 Project and isn’t really a stranger. The call to Beck’s show this morning did seem very suspect to me and now I know why! Someone had asked online yesterday if she was possibly a plant at the town hall meeting and now I’m thinking she could very well have been!

On March 20th 2009 a very bad thing happened, ….. but a much worse thing was avoided.
The nuclear powered submarine USS Hartford (SSN-768) (a Los Angeles-Class attack submarine) and the US Navy amphibious surface ship USS New Orleans (LPD-18) , the newest vessel in the US Navy, did something ships should never do, they tried to occupy the same spot in the seas, they collided.
The collision was real serious, as you can see;

Notice the damage to the subs sail (that very large jagged crack is definitely not in the blueprints) making submersion impossible, which will make getting it half way around the planet for repairs interesting. A Navy website has comments which say there are cracks in the frame also
According to one report, submarine Hartford rolled 85-degrees to starboard. The impact and rolling caused injuries to 15 Sailors on board. The bow planes and sail of the submerged Hartford ripped into the hull of New Orleans.
According to a Navy statement, the collision punched a 16-by-18 foot hole in the fuel tanks of New Orleans. Two interior ballast tanks were also damaged, the statement said. USS New Orleans lost about 25,000 gallons of diesel fuel, which rapidly dissipated in the ocean and could not be tracked after a few days. There were no injuries to New Orleans crew of 360 or the embarked unit of 700 US Marines.
Nuclear-powered submarine Hartford was severely damaged. Indeed, the submarine’s sail was torn from its mountings to the vessel’s pressure hull. The submarine’s sail is clearly bent by several degrees to starboard. It’s not part of the builder’s specs, that’s for sure. Apparently, the submarine’s communication masts and periscope are warped and inoperable. The watertight integrity of the pressure hull is suspect. After the collision, Hartford transited on the surface to Bahrain, where the vessel tied up to a military pier.
According to a report in the latest issue of Navy Times, this is a “deployment ending” event for the USS Hartford. The submarine cannot fulfill its combat mission. The vessel must move to a nuclear-capable shipyard to undergo extensive repairs, costing “in the tens of millions of dollars” according to one source.
That is a very bad thing to happen, especially considering a nuclear powered sub was involved. However as bad as it was, remember 15 sailors were hurt in the accident Though they all have returned to duty. Where it happened couldn’t have been worse, right smack in the middle of the Straights of Hormuz.
For those of you who do not know where that is, it is the place Iran and the US have squabbled over since 1979, the same place where all the super tankers from the Saudis Iraq and Kuwait must traverse through to bring the oil to Europe, Japan, Korea, China and even the US. The same place last year the Iranian navy’s speed boats played chicken with the US Navy both last April and as recent as January.
If we had suffered a “Kursk” style sinking of a nuclear sub there all traffic would have come to a screeching halt. Nobody would have wanted to float a very large ship full of highly flammable oil directly over the top of a damaged submerged nuclear powered sub. Remember the Kursk did catch fire ….. and could have exploded. The Navy would have locked the area down until they could have recovered the sub. Which would have made the Iranians not very happy, which might have lead to more games of high speed chicken. .
This would have had dire consequences to the price of oil and it’s products like gasoline plastics which of course would have further stressed a severely stressed world economy. This of course would have sunk us much deeper into a recession lest a (gasp) depression. Sort of making the last year seem quite mild by comparison.
So all in all, we dodged a real bad situation a couple of weeks ago, thank god, allah, the flying spaghetti monster, yehovah, budda, krishna, bael, zeus, poseidon, your lucky rabbits foot … take your pick. Yes, if the accident had been worse, think of how the Iranians might have responded, because a good amount of their oil and revenue from it flows through that narrow strip of water. Or if the Iranians had chosen that particular time to play chicken again. We all got lucky this time, wars have started in stranger circumstances, just ask the poor Iraqis about the last six years …….. or the Vietnamese about a place called the Gulf of Tonkin.
We all just missed a real bad, bad or worse ………………………

Just because this guy who killed 13-15 (MSNBC reported 15 dead, but that figure may include 2 injured) people today at the American Civic Association was Asian, does not mean he’s not part of a large group of right wing nutcases who are arming themselves out of right wing paranoia!
For weeks/months, Glenn Beck has been doing ‘Armaggedon’ laden radio and television shows where he’s advocating Americans to rise up against the White House to take the nation back and is trying to start a momentum of hate and paranoia against our president. His view on immigrants (as well as Neal Boortz, Lou Dobbs, Ass Limbo, and others) is less than stellar too and it’s not helping quell the kind of violence we saw happen today.
Who is Jiverly Voong and what would possess him to plan out a shooting like this? I can’t picture a liberal doing this, can you? James Cummings here in Maine was gunned down by his wife Amber last year after years of abuse, but on further investigation, it was found that Cummings had radioactive materials in his possession, had instructions on how to make a dirty bomb, had recently applied with the National Socialist Party (right wing…think Hitler Nazis!), was a hard core white supremacist, and hated President Obama with all his heart. Guaranteed that Mr. Cummings hated immigrants in addition to fearing our black president and had he lived longer most likely would have pulled what Voong did today….or worse….would have exploded some bombs to kill Americans.

President Obama has stated many times that he does not like being labeled and does not label himself as being of one ideology, but rather, likes the idea of taking the positives of all ideologies and making them work. And if it doesn’t work? He changes course. This is a man of a sound mind, because just like the rest of us, we do the same thing in our own lives. Let’s put it this way….Glenn Beck loves this kind of fear and right before President Obama won the November election in 2008, Beck and one of his listeners were freaking out about the Fairness Doctrine. They decided that it was time for the neocons of America to take back their country by forming armed militias to do it! Yep, these are the same jackasses who think Bill Ayers was the scariest domestic terrorist ever to live in America while at the same time conspiring to set up their own armed militias to storm the Obama Administration to make sure the Fairness Doctrine (that their Savior, Ronnie Reagan, killed!) is never brought back!

I’m sorry, but I am laughing my ass off right now! I was just over in my AOL email account to start weeding out the lists I’m on by emailing the originator to take me off as a subscriber, because I rarely use this email account and every few weeks I have delete/save hundreds of emails that I don’t read. In other words, this account is out of control. After sending off a few emails, I decided to check the frontpage of AOL for their top stories, one of which was about the meteor seen over the western part of Canada that had people just mesmerized. As I was reading down through the comments (ah yes! the psyche of Americans at it’s greatest!), there was this comment that made me throw my head back and laugh out loud:

By the way, Friday evening my son had two of his friends over for the night. Early in the evening they decided to take a walk through town and when they were coming back to the house, they said they saw a “meteor” in the sky. I asked, “Are you sure it wasn’t a shooting star?”, and they said it was much bigger and closer than that. Makes you wonder if there was a lot of ’space dust’ coming in over Canada with a larger piece coming in over the western part of Canada? Huh. Could be. The End is truly near.
