Christmas 2012

The mood in my house became very somber the moment I learned of the deaths of 20 children at Sandy Hook Elementary. I haven’t quite shaken the feeling either. And watching the fake compassion of Wayne Lapierre (lobbyist for the gun manufacturers!) makes my blood boil. May he rot on a sidewalk someday after a drive-by shooting (which he would support the shooter of course!) by a guy who is a member of the NRA!

I hope you all enjoy the holiday this year as best you can.

The New Year always brings such great hope to all of us, but watching and listening to the semi-automatic-gun-nuts in our nation over the past two weeks, I feel the New Year will bring more horror to the innocent. They want it. It’s profitable for them. Bastards. One good thing is the nation is watching them and taking notes. The GOP is sinking further into the abyss and they’re bringing it on all by themselves! Some good news there.

    • How did this convicted FELON, a murderer, get his guns? In Texas it would be easy where background checks are NOT required at our many gun/knife shows. One show was held in San Antonio over this past weekend, with 4500 gun enthusiasts attending, tripling normal attendance. Most were rushing to buy semi-automatic weapons along with large capacity ammo clips causing dealers to sell out. A common fear expressed was that “Obama was going to take away their guns!” The AR-15s were selling for $2300, at least $1000 over the normal sales price and they SOLD OUT.

  1. Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas 2012 and a Happy and Successful New Year 2013! : )

Yes, I agree that this December has been a tragedy of national proportions relating to violence inflicted by crazies with guns.

I’m a staunch supporter of second ammendment rights though since our government poses a far greater threat to our freedom in light of the draconian legislation they’ve been passing, particularly Section 1034 of the NDAA (National Defense Authoriztion Act) which would allow the military to round up citizens and to hold them indefinitely without charge or due process, virtually gutting the principles of habeas corpus; I.E., the right to be brought before a magistrate and face whatever charges are being brought against one. So too “posse commitatus” has been gutted which prevents the U.S.military from policing America’s streets except during emergencies with the use of state sponsored national guard functions etc.

Rand Paul referred to this recent passage of the NDAA again with this constitutionally scornful clause as “an abomination” and he is right.

It’s Senators such as John McCain, Carl Levin et al. that seemingly hate America and the Constitution upon which it stands. They are elitists that now conduct government no differently than the sovietski politburo of yore. They now fear “We the People” and so too they should.

This gun violence issue is a complex one interlinked with violent tv programming, video games and the seeming aggrandification of violence in general from waging illegal interventions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and now even placing missile batteries in Turkey all without Congressional approval, possibly behind closed doors committee approval, but not of the greater body. As our society seems to be out of control so too our national leadership. It’s not the guns, but the crazies behind the trigger be they mere civilians or the military whose enfranchised to commit mayhem whenever and wherever at the behest of a bunch of pencil-necked, political evil doers most of them on the make and take courtesy of their MIC sponsors. : |

    • Hi Carl! Nice to see you! Hope you and your family had a terrific holiday! :D

Since the Patriot Act, Americans have lost many rights one of which is the allowance of the FBI to take people from their homes in the middle of the night without just cause (and then taken to a secret place where one will be interrogated and not allowed to contact an attorney!). Disgusting. The NDAA refers back to the Patriot Act quite a bit in it, since the Bush Regime was instrumental in forging the way in tyranny!

One thing those who worship the 2nd Amendment (the paranoid ones who are stockpiling weapons & food and believe they can take on the American government, the National Guard, and local police) forgot to read was Article IV, Section 4 in the US Constitution (which coincides and explains the 2nd Amendment):

      Section 4.

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

Domestic violence means: domestic “enemies” (foreign & domestic remember!) taking up arms inside our states against the government (state or federal).

The Forefathers were not encouraging the people to commit treason against the US government they just formed. They wanted each state to have the ability to protect itself (National Guard which are the well-regulated militias the 2nd Amendment talks about) from foreign and domestic ‘enemies’.

      • Hi KIM…

I don’t believe the folks that are stockpiling weapons and food have a plan to take on the government, but to simply be prepared when their government fails them in terms of protecting their rights and liberty under the Constitution of the U.S.

King George III was an arrogant sob as most monarchal tyrants for all time and places. Without both arms and resolve to cast off the chains of the Brits we would not have our America of today.

To keep what little we have left of our freedom, we must be eternally vigilant as admonished by our founders. Freedom is not free!

Our modern era government post WWII has morphed from a Constitutional Republic to an empire governed by elitists who now scorn the founding document as well as their citizen tax slaves. We best know who are betters are…eh? /:|

It’s too late to take guns away from Americans. 80 out of 100 Americans own firearms of some sort.

Little do most folks realize they have far greater things to fear than a lone crazy taking them out via a firearm. It’s the insidious, ever-creeping over- reaching of a government that’s now out of control relative to the needs of its citizens. I rest my case.

        • Thanks Carl. I would believe you if the right wingers of the nation didn’t hate Obama with such vitriol! Where were these people when the Bush Regime was putting laws in place that did take our rights away and made our nation scary to live in! :D

          • Hi KIM…

My wife and I voted for President Obama twice now. Mitt Romney, to me, based on my research is a fright of a man whose seemingly life committment is to make evermore money not only for himself, but wealthy cronies of the same stripe at the expense of the many.

We’d assuredly be at war with Iran pounding more rocks and sand with munitions we can ill afford unless we borrow evermore money from the Chinese, so too our sworn enemies regardless of the feelgood “pirate capitalism’ that now exists in their nation for the benefit of the few at the expense of the many too. Things are not all rosy in “Red China” for its citizenry. So too our statist leadership would enjoy the same boot upon our collective necks if they could do so absolutely without fear of reprisal from a well-armed citizenry.

I’m a pragmatist so Obama represented a breath of fresh air when compared to John McCain for his first elected term and the same vs. Mitt Romney for his reelection.

My wife and I are registered as Independents, so we have beholding to neither party.

“They should look forward to a time, and that not a distant one, when corruption in this land as in the country from which we derive our origin, will have seized the heads of government, and be spread by them through the body of the people; when they will purchase the voices of the people and make them pay the price. Human nature is the same on each side of the Atlantic, and will be alike, influenced by the same causes. The time to guard against corruption and tyranny is before they shall have gotten hold of us. It is better to keep the wolf out of the fold, than trust to drawing his teeth and talons after he shall have entered. …Thomas Jefferson

  2. On Christmas Eve a local police officer was murdered by a gun during a routine traffic stop here in Houston. An innocent bystander, a manager of the Maaco Auto Body Shop, caught a stray bullet from the ensuing gun battle and was also killed. The young male shooter is in critical condition at a local hospital.

USA Today had a story that it is homes, not schools, that are most dangerous for children.

When I posted the story above on another blog got this response right away from a REICH wingnut… They hate FACTS other than what they hear on Faux News, hate radio!

wrong, gang violence So please lib sheep try reality and stop being an ignorant 0bama sheep!!! Be a good little sheep and ban spoons for making people fat!!! Hooray for being a dumbazz lib!!!!!!!

Please and i say again please never call 911 because they will send over someone with a gun (gasp),………………………………

lib sheep schitt on the constitution!!!!!!!

Note how the gun nuts only LOVE the 2nd Amendment (which they often don’t understand) and hate the 1st Amendment that give us all FREE SPEECH, the kind Piers Morgan uses, and the FREE SPEECH to make movies, etc. even if they are violent in nature.

BTW, Japanese see as many violent movies, play as many violent video games as do Americans YET they hardly have any murders each year compared to the USA. Could it be they have strong laws banning certain weapons and ammunition?

  3. The evil will always find a way to express their evil and the insane will always find a way to express their insanity. The police can’t be everywhere to protect everyone all of the time. Why do other people have a problem with me owning a firearm in order to defend myself? Why do people who have never even met me, people who know nothing about me, want me to be a victim?

      • What about when I’m at the mall or the park with my grandkids? Shouldn’t I be allowed to protect my grandkids and myself when we are out in public? The police came be everywhere and bad people usually ply their trade when the police are not around.

          • I’m not a hero by any means. I do regularly participate in defensive pistol courses that include moving targets, shooting on the move, cover, concealment, force on force, etc. It’s all run by retired police officers who keep it safe while they run us through the drills.

Do you really want me and my grandkids to choose to be victims if some crazy guy decides he wants to shoot up the park? I think if I let something like that happen when I could have prevented it I would be almost as guilty as the shooter.

              • So many paranoid people with that paranoia fanned by the gun manufacturers and their NRA LOBBY. They want us to be scared. Maybe we shouldn’t leave our homes as lighting might strike!

I have never owned a gun and live in a city where hundreds are murdered each year, but yet I am not afraid as I don’t go into those bad neighborhoods where it is mostly black-on-black or brown-on-brown violence often tied to the illegal drug trade.

As far as being armed to “fight my government” this is the crazy talk of the Timothy McVeigh “militia-types”. Once again paranoia with no basis in REALITY. The teabagger gun toting types brag about loving their troops but then would have no qualms about shooting the same troops who serve us.

  4. A “survivalist” group plans to build a fortified “castle” in the panhandle of Idaho where they can fend off our Federal Government someday. Putting their “faith” in their semi-automatic rifles versus Apache helicopters, drones, jet fighters, heavy armor vehicles, etc. Dreamers!!! This area is noted for its white supremacist groups and survivalists like Randy Weaver at Ruby Ridge.
