  1. Nice cut-n-paste but when you put a boys face on a womans body you really should remove the nail polish. Or does you image of potus have him wearing very ladylike fingernails?

    • Evidently our troll has never seen a much reproduced poster from WWII when women, a minority previously cut out of much of the work force, were solicited to work in our factories while American men went away to war. An undereducated troll doesn’t know from irony…that another minority in this age is ready to roll up their sleeves when once again our nation is defending itself against fascism…this time however, home grown.

  2. “Made health care reform the law of the land!”

Yeah, he put government in control over 1/6 of our economy; forcing citizens to buy a product from private companies, while forcing said companies to take unsustainable business risks, and forcing other companies to take huge losses to comply with the law; setting prices for services for all doctors to follow regardless of specialty (ever hear of the term”free market economy”?); assuming direct control over all student loans (and just what do student loans have to do with HC?)and the hits just keep rolling…really something to be proud of..

“Got Russia to sign a nuclear arms treaty with the United States to slash nuclear arsenals by a third!”

No, he negotiated a new treaty with Russia over nuclear weapons…like almost every other President has done since JFK, nothing is SIGNED, it still has to be ratified; and I fear that, because of the heavy-handed way that HC was passed, there is no way that this treaty will ever go anywhere anytime soon. And Russia still refuses to water down their support of Iran’s nuclear aspirations, so tell me again, WHAT did he really accomplish?

“Played hardball with Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel!”

Again, NO he didn’t; he publicly humiliated our staunchest ally in the Middle East. Tell me what he gained by doing so, and I’ll be more than willing to rethink my opinion.

“Surprised our soldiers in Afghanistan with a visit!”

Yes, so? When President Bush surprised the troops in Iraq, you castigated him as being a coward for not conducting it in an “official” manner. Moreover his message to the troops was twofold:
    1. Thanking them for a job well done to the best of their ability.

    Kudos to him for that!

    2. Telling them that the job was far from over and that further sacrifices would be required of them to get the job done.

Again, kudos to him for admitting reality; but doesn’t that interfere with the Progressive meme that we shouldn’t be engaged in this war at all? What happened to “no blood for oil” and “stop American imperialism”?

Seems to this observer that you set the bar for adulation at an all time low.

    • Awww, I see Bert M. misses George Bush’s fascism. Too bad!!! We’ve got a President now who can concentrate on more than one thing unlike George Bush! George Bush hated our troops and only considered them a pawn in his right wing oil cartel game. He wanted more nukes on the planet and loved the Israeli government (hence him starting two wars to protect her while telling Americans our soldiers were protecting our freedoms & rights, which was a bunch of bullshit!). If George could have gotten away with it, he would have had anal sex with Benjamin Netanyahu to show his appreciation for the support of his oil transaction in Iraq! George once told the media that future presidents would have to handle his mess in Iraq and Afghanistan and when the Generals on the ground over there asked for more troops in 2008 for Afghanistan, he did nothing. It was President Obama who added in the 30,000 the Generals wanted in Afghanistan WITH THE IDEA THE TROOPS WILL HAVE A WITHDRAWAL DATE. George Bush’s withdrawal date? NONE! ZIPPO! ZILCHO! As long as Georgie’s kids don’t have to serve the country, he could give a shit if yours does.

      • I think I wasn’t clear in my comment. Perhaps I should have said: “Moreover Obama’s message to the troops was twofold:” to make it clearer.

I am no great fan of President Bush, his only saving grace to me is/was he was better than the alternative at the time.
I was greatly concerned when he came up with the Patriot Act as an un-American response to a grave situation. (incidentally, your Messiah just renewed that act when it was due to “sunset”–with the exception of not continuing some of the safeguards against infringing liberties that was in the original, guess Bush isn’t the only Fascist!)

Fascism? You might look up the definition again, KAY. The HC bill does demonstrate it if you want an example of what it looks like in action.

Just WHERE IS ALL THE OIL ?!? Iraq isn’t even in the top five countries exporting oil to the U.S. Link If all your accusations were true, we should be swimming in oil by now.

When President Bush sent 20,000 troops in the “surge” of 2007, he was castigated by a certain group as a “warmonger = Hitler”. The Party YOU espouse claimed that it failed before the boots even hit the ground… I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised that you maintain a double standard. Adding troops to an AoO and setting a deadline for their return (telling your enemy that you will fight so long and no longer )doesn’t seem like good military doctrine to me, but then again I only served as a soldier, not a politician/tactician.

I currently have three relatives engaged in theater, one of them recovering from an injury due to an IED, so the war is very personal to me. Whether or not we should have engaged in conflict is a debate that can be argued, but once we are engaged, the ONLY goal should be to win that conflict decisively as quickly as possible and then bring our troops home.

President Bush started the war to protect Israel?!? Care to show any evidence?
Israel is our staunchest ally in the Middle East. It has been in a war of survival ever since it’s inception. It has shown itself willing to make great sacrifices in the goal of achieving a peace with it’s neighbors, with little results from the other side. Why are you so anti-Semitic?

        • 14 POINTS OF FASCISM

          1. Powerful and continuing expressions of nationalism

From the prominent displays of flags and bunting to the ubiquitous lapel pins, the fervor to show patriotic nationalism, both on the part of the regime itself and of citizens caught up in its frenzy, was always obvious. Catchy slogans, pride in the military, and demands for unity were common themes in expressing this nationalism. It was usually coupled with a suspicion of things foreign that often bordered on xenophobia.

          2. Disdain for the importance of human rights

The regimes themselves viewed human rights as of little value and a hindrance to realizing the objectives of the ruling elite. Through clever use of propaganda, the population was brought to accept these human rights abuses by marginalizing, even demonizing, those being targeted. When abuse was egregious, the tactic was to use secrecy, denial, and disinformation.

          3. Identification of enemies/scapegoats as a unifying cause

The most significant common thread among these regimes was the use of scapegoating as a means to divert the people’s attention from other problems, to shift blame for failures, and to channel frustration in controlled directions. The methods of choice—relentless propaganda and disinformation—were usually effective. Often the regimes would incite “spontaneous” acts against the target scapegoats, usually communists, socialists, liberals, Jews, ethnic and racial minorities, traditional national enemies, members of other religions, secularists, homosexuals, and “terrorists.” Active opponents of these regimes were inevitably labeled as terrorists and dealt with accordingly.

          4. The supremacy of the military/avid militarism

Ruling elites always identified closely with the military and the industrial infrastructure that supported it. A disproportionate share of national resources was allocated to the military, even when domestic needs were acute. The military was seen as an expression of nationalism, and was used whenever possible to assert national goals, intimidate other nations, and increase the power and prestige of the ruling elite.

          5. Rampant sexism

Beyond the simple fact that the political elite and the national culture were male-dominated, these regimes inevitably viewed women as second-class citizens. They were adamantly anti-abortion and also homophobic. These attitudes were usually codified in Draconian laws that enjoyed strong support by the orthodox religion of the country, thus lending the regime cover for its abuses.

          6. A controlled mass media

Under some of the regimes, the mass media were under strict direct control and could be relied upon never to stray from the party line. Other regimes exercised more subtle power to ensure media orthodoxy. Methods included the control of licensing and access to resources, economic pressure, appeals to patriotism, and implied threats. The leaders of the mass media were often politically compatible with the power elite. The result was usually success in keeping the general public unaware of the regimes’ excesses.

          7. Obsession with national security

Inevitably, a national security apparatus was under direct control of the ruling elite. It was usually an instrument of oppression, operating in secret and beyond any constraints. Its actions were justified under the rubric of protecting “national security,” and questioning its activities was portrayed as unpatriotic or even treasonous.

          8. Religion and ruling elite tied together

Unlike communist regimes, the fascist and protofascist regimes were never proclaimed as godless by their opponents. In fact, most of the regimes attached themselves to the predominant religion of the country and chose to portray themselves as militant defenders of that religion. The fact that the ruling elite’s behavior was incompatible with the precepts of the religion was generally swept under the rug. Propaganda kept up the illusion that the ruling elites were defenders of the faith and opponents of the “godless.” A perception was manufactured that opposing the power elite was tantamount to an attack on religion.

          9. Power of corporations protected

Although the personal life of ordinary citizens was under strict control, the ability of large corporations to operate in relative freedom was not compromised. The ruling elite saw the corporate structure as a way to not only ensure military production (in developed states), but also as an additional means of social control. Members of the economic elite were often pampered by the political elite to ensure a continued mutuality of interests, especially in the repression of “have-not” citizens.

          10. Power of labor suppressed or eliminated

Since organized labor was seen as the one power center that could challenge the political hegemony of the ruling elite and its corporate allies, it was inevitably crushed or made powerless. The poor formed an underclass, viewed with suspicion or outright contempt. Under some regimes, being poor was considered akin to a vice.

          11. Disdain and suppression of intellectuals and the arts

Intellectuals and the inherent freedom of ideas and expression associated with them were anathema to these regimes. Intellectual and academic freedom were considered subversive to national security and the patriotic ideal. Universities were tightly controlled; politically unreliable faculty harassed or eliminated. Unorthodox ideas or expressions of dissent were strongly attacked, silenced, or crushed. To these regimes, art and literature should serve the national interest or they had no right to exist.

          12. Obsession with crime and punishment

Most of these regimes maintained Draconian systems of criminal justice with huge prison populations. The police were often glorified and had almost unchecked power, leading to rampant abuse. “Normal” and political crime were often merged into trumped-up criminal charges and sometimes used against political opponents of the regime. Fear, and hatred, of criminals or “traitors” was often promoted among the population as an excuse for more police power.

          13. Rampant cronyism and corruption

Those in business circles and close to the power elite often used their position to enrich themselves. This corruption worked both ways; the power elite would receive financial gifts and property from the economic elite, who in turn would gain the benefit of government favoritism. Members of the power elite were in a position to obtain vast wealth from other sources as well: for example, by stealing national resources. With the national security apparatus under control and the media muzzled, this corruption was largely unconstrained and not well understood by the general population.

          14. Fraudulent elections

Elections in the form of plebiscites or public opinion polls were usually bogus. When actual elections with candidates were held, they would usually be perverted by the power elite to get the desired result. Common methods included maintaining control of the election machinery, intimidating and disenfranchising opposition voters, destroying or disallowing legal votes, and, as a last resort, turning to a judiciary beholden to the power elite.

          • When I have time, I’ll go through your points one by one. For now I’ll only address #10 Power of labor suppressed or eliminated

Who wrote: “As things stand today, the trade unions in my opinion cannot be dispensed with. On the contrary, they are among the most important institutions of the nation’s economic life. Their significance lies not only in the social and political field, but even more in the general field of national politics. A people whose broad masses, through a sound trade-union movement, obtain the satisfaction of their living requirements and at the same time an education, will be tremendously strengthened in its power of resistance in the struggle for existence”.

Hint: check chapter 12 of “Mein Kampf”

        • Here’s what was reported concerning Iraq’s oil in 2005:

          http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6621523/

George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld said Iraq’s oil revenue would be used to rebuild Iraq. Uh ha. Well, American taxpayer’s have been paying for the rebuild to the tune of trillions over the years and thanks to the oil speculators, Americans paid $4/gallon for heating oil in the winter of 2007 (a record high).

When George Bush surged our troop levels, HE HAD NO WITHDRAWAL OR TIMELINE IN PLACE. Worthless if you ask me!

THERE IS NO WINNING OVER THERE AND YOU KNOW IT! Send your relatives over there then. Will they win an IED attack? Most likely! But hey, we will withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan with RESPECT THANKS TO PRESIDENT OBAMA!

I see you’re fine with the United States spending BILLIONS a year on protecting Israel, you know, the people who have nuclear weapons already to protect themselves. OUR SOLDIERS HAVE DIED IN IRAQ FOR OIL, SO THE BUSH REGIME’S CONTRACTOR BUDDIES CAN STEAL BILLIONS FROM THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER, AND TO PROTECT ISRAEL. Let the Israelis use their own nukes to protect themselves with! If they were forced to do that without American help, they would treat the Palestinians a lot better, but no, they would much rather treat them like animals and use America as cover for their crimes. So sick of their government!!!!

          • “Let the Israelis use their own nukes to protect themselves with!”

This statement shows the depth of your ignorance. Let’s see if I can demonstrate…You’re in the U.S. You have a State that has a violent problem between two large cities that are five miles apart. By your advice, city #1 should nuke city #2 to solve the problem.

Put that way,it sounds ridiculous doesn’t it? But that is the exact situation in Israel.

        • Israel is not our ally. We are it’s puppet. Enough said.

By the way, Saddam Hussein wanted to privatize Iraq’s oil. That is another reason why George Bush & Dick Cheney the Oil Maggots wanted to go into Iraq after 9/11/01, even though they knew Saddam and Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11! But hey, you believe otherwise. You believed George when he said Saddam could attack America in 45 minutes in the form of a mushroom cloud. I didn’t believe him and I was right.

          • “You believed George when he said Saddam could attack America in 45 minutes in the form of a mushroom cloud.”

Show me ONE citation where George Bush said anything of the sort.

What he DID say was, according to all the Intelligence reports of every major nation, that Saddam was engaged in a nuclear armaments program. Leading Democrats in the Senate and the House that saw the same reports agreed with him. The intell reports may have been wrong, but even Saddam’s own subordinates believed the same thing. It was believed to be better to pre-empt Saddam before he became a nuclear power.
Hindsight may tell us differently, but then, it’s always easier to talk from a perspective of greater and certain knowledge.

            • “The Iraqi regime possesses biological and chemical weapons.. and, according to the British government, could launch a biological or chemical attack in as little as 45 minutes after the order is given.
The dangers we face only worsen from month to month and year to year.. .and each passing day could be the one on which the Iraqi regime gives anthrax or VX nerve gas or someday a nuclear weapon to a terrorist group.” (President Bush, Radio Address, September 28, 2002)

“The danger to America for the Iraqi regime is grave and growing… Delay, indecision and inaction are not options for America, because they could leave to massive and sudden horror.” (President Bush, Radio Address, October 5, 2002)

“Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof – the smoking gun – that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.” (President Bush, Speech in Cincinnati, October 7, 2002)

“After September 1 1th, we’ve entered into a new era and a new war. This is a man that we know has had connections with a1 Qaeda. This is a manwho, in my judgment, would like to use al Qaeda as a forward arrny.” (President Bush, Remarks in Dearbom, MI, October 14, 2002)

              http://www.gpoaccess.gov/seria.....feller.pdf

              • Note the qualifiers “could” and “may SOMEDAY”.

As I stated before, President Bush acted proactively, BEFORE such an event could come to pass;had Saddam had the weapons that every intelligence agency in the world thought he had, it would be a much different situation than we have today. We should be great-full the intell was incorrect, or we would have lost a lot more soldiers than we did.

That is the Presidents job, to protect the U.S. from threat of harm as best as he can determine from the data he has. Easy to gainsay him six years after the fact, with all what we know today.

                • I see Bert is still spreading the George Bush lies! Way to go, fascist!

How come you didn’t hear George Bush, Condi Rice, and others saying we have to attack Iraq before Saddam attacks America via a mushroom cloud? Huh? How come you didn’t hear Georgie saying Saddam had the capability to attack our country in 45 minutes? Oh wait! You watched Fox News during Georgie’s years! They were all wrapping themselves in the flag and clicking their jackboots together whenever Bushitler said anything!

    • Kremlin officials said that a document to replace the 1991 Start treaty had been agreed with Washington. A signing ceremony between Obama and Russia’s president, Dmitry Medvedev, is likely to take place early next month in the Czech capital Prague, they said.

      http://www.guardian.co.uk/worl.....ent-russia

A pure government-run system was never among the leading Democratic proposals. There is no “single payer” or “public option.” There is NO government insurance company created by this bill. Instead, the bill builds on our current system of private insurance, and in fact, drums up more business for private companies by mandating that individuals buy coverage and giving many subsidies to do so. There would be increased government regulation of the insurance industry, however, to require companies to cover preexisting conditions, for example. BTW, doctors have long worked under prices for services SET by Medicare. So what’s new? They’ve been able to live in million dollar mansions, drive their Mercedes even complying with government mandates.

It’s about time an American president stood up to Israel which receives half of all U.S. taxpayer’s yearly payments ($3 BILLION) to foreign nations. Israel has violated UN Resolution-after- Resolution for too many years, mostly ethnic cleansing by continuously building housing on Arab lands. When Saddam Hussein violated fewer Resolutions, Bush/Cheney used that as an “excuse” at attack Iraq. The right-wing neocon Netanyahu spits in our eye and we are just supposed to take abuse year after year from the Zionists who long ago would cease to exist in the Israeli state without the firepower and money from Uncle Sam?

  3. The administration in their pat on the back press conference made it sound like Obama made these great strides with Russia when in fact it was just a continuation of the same treaty that has existed for years.

Israel is our only steadfast supported in the Middle East. Obama has a Muslim upbringing so it stands to reason he has contempt for Jews.

His signing of the healthcare bill greatly enhances the insurance industry and medical companies who he has stated he dislikes. Rates will increase for younger policy holders to pay for the no-payers so who gets helped, hint the non-productive segment of our society.

  4. Another REICH-wing LIE here from TROLL Atlanta Ralph. Obama was never raised to be a Muslim. He didn’t even know his father who left his mother when he was just a toddler. His mother was agnostic, looked at religion from the standpoint of an anthropologist, her field of academic study. He was brought up by lapsed Methodist grandparents in Hawaii. So really wasn’t religious himself until he moved to Chicago and began working with Chicago churches to help the poor there. When attended school in Indonesia where his stepfather worked for Shell Oil, Barack attended BOTH a Catholic school and a PUBLIC school.

  5. He scorns the Israeli PM and bows to the sheiks so I guess you are right that he was never a Muslim.

    • George Bush and Dick Cheney held hands and kissed the Saudi king and they butt phucked Israel to boot! But you love this, don’t ya Ralphie? I bet! You don’t care what white republicans do.

  6. Israel flips off the world and refuses to abide by MANY UN Resolutions like being forbidden to build illegal settlements on Arab land, won’t join the IAEA so they don’t have to reveal their stockpiles of nuclear weapons (even Iran belongs to the group).

Thanks in part to our support of Israeli Zionists (billions of our taxpayer money every year), Al Qaeda and Muslim terrorist groups have had fodder to recruit members due to the fascist actions of the neocons in power there and the U.S. looking the other way.
