Glenn Beck lied about President Obama and Melanie Shouse who died of breast cancer

Glenn Beck is a dangerous man. He has two national microphones a day to rally the right wing fringe of this country and he uses those microphones to spout lies, deceits, and distortions against our first African American President. Van Jones on the other hand didn’t have two national microphones to rally people to his cause, which was to proclaim himself a Commie after the unjustice of the Rodney King trial years ago! That’s right. Out of these two men, Glenn Beck is the dangerous one. Fascism is rearing it’s ugly head again after 8 years of George Bushitler and knowing that Glenn Beck has The Plan to put forth this year….visions of Hitler are dancing in their heads!

Anyway…

Yesterday on Beck’s show he started it out with the story of Melanie Shouse, who died of breast cancer a few days ago after a few years of battling this disease and who worked tirelessly for President Obama’s historic presidential campaign in St. Louis, Missouri despite her ill health. Glenn Beck couldn’t wait to use this story against our president. It was disgusting to listen to! First he started out with the audio of President Obama talking about Shouse’s death. Here’s part of the transcript of what President Obama said (sorry! don’t have the video at this time!):

“I got a letter — I got a note today from one of my staff — they forwarded it to me — from a woman in St. Louis who had been part of our campaign, very active, who had passed away from breast cancer.

“She didn’t have insurance. She couldn’t afford it, so she had put off having the kind of exams that she needed. And she had fought a tough battle for four years. All through the campaign she was fighting it, but finally she succumbed to it. And she insisted she’s going to be buried in an Obama t-shirt.

“But think about this: She was fighting that whole time not just to get me elected, not even to get herself health insurance, but because she understood that there were others coming behind her who were going to find themselves in the same situation and she didn’t want somebody else going through that same thing.

“How can I say to her, “You know what? We’re giving up”? How can I say to her family, “This is too hard”?

“How can Democrats on the Hill say, “This is politically too risky”? How can Republicans on the Hill say, “We’re better off just blocking anything from happening”?

Beck concentrated on the reaction of the audience to Obama’s statement that Shouse wanted to buried in an Obama t-shirt. A couple people had laughed for a second, but then there was a lot of ‘awwwwwwing’ coming from the audience, because they realized they were hearing the last wishes of a woman who had died. A normal reaction. Beck tried to convince his worshipers yesterday that this reaction is “proof” that our president is a liar and not liked too much.

What an ass Beck is!

BECK’S LIES ABOUT PRESIDENT OBAMA AND MELANIE SHOUSE:

Melanie’s whole story is untrue. (GLENN BECK SAYS HE AND HIS SHILLS ARE THE BEST RESEARCHERS OF ALL TIME. HAD HE DONE A GOOGLE SEARCH OF MELANIE HE WOULD HAVE FOUND HER STORY TO BE TRUE!)

Melanie did not ask to be buried (she was cremated) in an Obama t-shirt. Beck insisted this was a lie and a way for Obama to prop himself up to talk about the desire to reform our health care system. (HER FAMILY SAYS SHE WAS CREMATED WEARING AN OBAMA T-SHIRT AND THEY HONORED HER LAST WISH)

Beck made the claim that President Obama knew Melanie personally and he was at fault for not getting this woman insurance when she worked on his campaign. (COMPLETELY UNTRUE BECAUSE THERE WERE MILLIONS WORKING ON HIS CAMPAIGN AND MOST WERE UNPAID VOLUNTEERS WHO DIDN’T QUALIFY FOR INSURANCE! HE DID NOT KNOW MELANIE PERSONALLY AND ONLY FIRST HEARD ABOUT HER WHEN SOMEONE ON HIS STAFF FORWARDED HER STORY TO HIM)

Even Gather doesn’t believe the Melanie Shouse story! What is wrong with these people? Are they jealous because no one wants to be buried with their name or mug on a t-shirt or something? Seriously, the fact that a 16 year old girl called Beck the other day to say that she worships him and gets all of her history lessons from him and refuses to listen to her public school history teachers is a sign that this young woman would most likely want Beck’s picture on her shirt! I’m sure many Nazis felt the same way about Hitler. Anyway…

Glenn Beck has a child with disabilities. Should we not believe him? Maybe he is just making that up to gain sympathy for his cause? Hey, could be. If Beck doesn’t give us the truth and the proof about his daughter in the next 10 minutes after this post hits the front page, then we can automatically assume he’s lying about her to benefit his career financially! See?

By the way, Melanie did have insurance when she died, but as explained by her Mother and family, the insurance company would not pay for an expensive treatment that has been known to be “experimental” but has a very good track record. Her mother also pointed out that the insurance company had paid for another “experimental” treatment early on, but that treatment didn’t have a very good track record. At the end of Melanie’s life, she didn’t have the money. She died with insurance of a disease that many women live through today. See? President Obama said she didnt’ have insurance and Beck questioned his “truthiness”. Well, she had insurance but it sure didn’t feel like it to her!

Rest in peace, Melanie. Those of us with compassion in our hearts know that our health insurance system sucks ass and we will work hard to make sure your story is not forgotten! You represent tens of thousands of people in this country who are spending a lot of money a month for insurance with high deductibles only to find out you’re under-insured or your insurance company refuses to pay for lifesaving treatments just to save themselves some money! Now that is a cancer we will rid our nation of!

It’s pretty much a given that Beck lies. But sadly, a lot of people hang on his every word.

  2. William says:

How to tell when Beck is lying:

Watch his face very closely (if you can stand it).
If his lips are moving, he’s lying.

  3. Insurance, insurance, insurance. Everyone seems to agree that Melanie Shouse had insurance but oBama said she did not have insurance. oBama lied.

When you read more of Melanie Shouse’s story you see in her own words that she put off seeking medical attention when she first discovered a lump in her breast. In her own words she said she was in denial and did nothing about the lump she had found in her breast.

Melanie Shouse overextended her credit to open her own business. Then Melanie Shouse chose to save a few dollars and not get checked out when she found a lump in her breast. The business was more important to her than her own health. The business survived and Melanie Shouse did not; an outcome aligned with Melanie Shouse’s priorities.

Put her in that oBama shirt and plant her. She can still vote for oBama. ACORN will have her registered and voting in Chicago before her body gets cold.

Melanie Shouse had insurance. oBama lied.

I see Chicken Shit is siding with the wealthy private health insurance company once again over the patient. Not surprised. This is what FASCIST CAPITALISTS DO.

Obama did not lie with the intention of deceiving. That part of the story is not what Beck was focusing on. Beck is the one who lied and turned the whole thing around to “prove” Obama is not “liked”. Obama received the email from his staff member. Maybe his staff person put that she didn’t have insurance? Hey, could be. We don’t know!

Melanie Shouse should be alive today in the wealthiest country on the planet because she had breast cancer. Instead, she’s dead because her insurance company refused to pay for treatments that worked and because they put profit over patients. The End.

MELANIE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER AFTER SHE STARTED HER BUSINESS:

      http://www.topix.com/forum/city/asheville-nc/TP9TQEAQNTK7N3NDO

She did not know how her life was going to change months after putting all her money into her business! Oh wait. That doesn’t fit with Chicken Shit and Glenn Beck’s recollection of Melanie’s life, because according to these two, they knew more than Melanie did years ago! See?

      PHUCKTARDS.

    • kayinmaine says:

MELANIE PUT OFF TREATMENT IN THE BEGINNING BECAUSE SHE HAD TO COME UP WITH $5,000 JUST TO HAVE HER APPOINTMENTS/TREATMENTS PAID.

Do you not understand how insurance works? She would have to pay the first $5,000 before her insurance would kick in.

Are all wingnuts idiots? Seems so.

  4. There is no bottom to how low those mother fuckers will go, is there? They are certifiably insane. How do these idiots get such platforms to spew their hatred and lies? Arghhhhh, thanks for the story, K.

    • kayinmaine says:

Jim, it’s apparent to me everyday that it’s the REPUBLICANS/TEABAGGERS/FASCISTS/9/12ers/BIRTHERS/CONSERVATIVES who hate Americans. Can you believe what they say? Wow. This is why I could never vote for a republican ever again. They’re inhumane!

  5. You mean Melanie Shouse had a $5,000.00 deductible because she chose the plan with the lowest premiums?

Bunch of crap. She wanted high end benefits for an economy price. She got what she chose to pay for.

  6. kayinmaine says:

She chose the $5,000 deductible like most Americans do, because it lowers the cost of the monthly premium so she can continue eating for crying out loud!

Wow. You neocons are so out of touch! You have no clue what the average American goes through. I feel sorry for ya.

Tell me Chicken Shit Who Knows Nothing, how much do you pay a month for your health insurance?

  7. Wow. You neocons are so out of touch! You have no clue what the average American goes through. I feel sorry for ya.

Out of touch is thinking it’s okay to take what a person has worked hard for and giving it away to some other person who has not worked as hard.

The cost of my insurance is of no importance to you. I have absolutely no problem using my own money to purchase the right insurance plan to protect myself and my family. I am responsible for my own and my family’s insurance.

Melanie Shouse was responsible for Melanie Shouse’s insurance. End of story.

    • kayinmaine says:

You can’t tell me how much you pay for insurance? Is it wicked high and you’re embarrassed because you know if you come down with a catastrophic illness your insurance won’t cover it, even though you’re paying out of the ass? Or maybe you’re getting Medicaid? Could be.

She did pay for her insurance, otherwise, she would have been uninsured. Get it moron? HER INSURANCE COMPANY REFUSED HER TREATMENTS THAT SHE COULD NOT AFFORD OUT OF POCKET!

  8. atlanta ralph says:

It would take personal responsibility for her to seek a diagnosis and that is something democrats are totally against. Much easier to blame someone else.
The government should tell you how to live, when you need care and they should pay for it. If you choose not to have care it is someone else fault.

  9. Melanie Shouse got the insurance coverage that she chose to pay for. Why is that so hard to get through your head?

You don’t expect to be driving an Escalade on Geo payments do you?

Nothing in this life is free Kay. The only way you provide someone with something for free is to take it away from someone else.

    • kayinmaine says:

DO YOU GET THIS: her insurance company refused to give her a treatment that they labeled “EXPERIMENTAL” BUT HAD A VERY HIGH SUCCESS RATE, but before that, THEY DID PAY FOR ANOTHER “EXPERIMENTAL” PROCESS THAT WAS KNOWN TO NOT BE AS EFFECTIVE.

The insurance company was her DEATH PANEL.

      • kayinmaine says:

Also….you’re fine that some Americans can’t afford the Cadillac Plan and you believe they should die because they can’t afford it? Seriously, IS THIS THE RIGHT WING’S PLATFORM ON HEALTH INSURANCE/CARE REFORM?

        Do tell.

  10. atlanta ralph says:

    Kay,

No doubt the insurance industry needs to be reformed. That should start with being able to sell across state lines and covering preexisting
    conditions.

Why did she wait so long for treatment, even she said she was in denial. She fought everything except the system and Obama used her for political gain. His handlers told him it was what he had to do and he did it.

The government, medicare, medicaid and VA will not pay for experimental treatment but you expect an insurance company to.

    • kayinmaine says:

LOL Selling across state lines? Are you serious? That is your answer? You think if someone in Maine buys insurance from Texas it will include a ton of coverage for less money? And you believe the price will never go up because it was bought over state lines? Also……most states have laws in place protecting their citizens from out of state thieves!!!!

      I’m telling ya…..YOU’RE PHUCKING STUPID!

Why did she wait so long? Most likely because she was well enough to keep going. Americans in our country don’t go to the doctors if they don’t have insurance because they figure, ‘I ain’t broke, so why fix it’. Seriously, there are people out there right now who have cancer and have no idea! My son’s father was diagnosed with cancer in April of 2009 and was dead by June of 2009. He hadn’t felt good for a year or so before diagnosis, but didn’t go to the doctor because he had felt tired with no other symptoms.

      Have you had cancer?

      • kayinmaine says:

By the way, show me an out of state plan that is cheap and packed with coverage. I’m serious. Provide a link to a company out of state (either your state or mine) that would be the #1 choice for Americans to purchase. Thanks pal!

  11. kayinmaine says:

Even the police officer STOOD FIRM FOR MELANIE’S PLIGHT!…

    http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/blogs/r/i/ripper_mccord/2010/02/for-melanie-shouse.php#comment-3778277

“Using herself as an example, Ms. Shouse said she had put off going to a doctor because her health insurance policy had a $5,000 deductible. She called it “hit by a bus kind of insurance.”

When the insurance company wouldn’t pay for a treatment Ms. Shouse believed would help her, friends protested at the company.

Insurance officials refused to accept their petition and called police, recalled a friend, Kathy Geldbach. One of the police officers took the petition, “marched up the company’s steps and strongly encouraged those men to look at the petition,” Geldbach said.”

  12. Selling insurance across state lines would bring some competition to the game.

Competition in the market brings the market’s prices down.

First semester economics; right after the “There is no such thing as a free lunch” lesson.

  13. kayinmaine says:

REAL competition comes in the form of a strong public insurance option to force the expensive insurance companies to come way down on their prices. All they’re doing now is going up on their prices and always have. The PIO would be like the off-brand at the supermarket compared to the name-brand item. People will most likely choose the cheaper brand because it costs less and they get twice the amount of product!

So, how much do you pay a month for your insurance “that covers everything”? Huh? Insurance companies don’t have a lot of laws to go by so right now your policy may “cover everything”, but if they go up on your price that is considered a “policy change” and they could find a ton of things to not cover your treatments/surgeries etc.!

  14. kayinmaine says:

Here’s a great article on the public option:

    http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2010/2/9/72310/74560

    Read it neocons!

  15. atlanta ralph says:

So why doesn’t the government regulate the insurance companies, they have the power to do that. Take over of healthcare plays better into their plans.

Competition brings down prices and increases service, or don’t you believe that? Increase the ability to get MSA’s, eliminate the restrictions on covering across state lines.

The poor are taken care of with medicare, the rich take care of them selves it is the small business owner or employee who needs the help and the government makes it difficult for them to do anything about it.

  16. atlanta ralph says:

Totally unbiased article from a unbiased source.

The rich take care of themselves, the poor are taken care of, large corporations can afford to offer coverage and the government screws small business with their insane policies.

If a small business wants to provide health insurance, the government restrictions on doing that make it very difficult.

Competition does bring down prices, think Walmart. Why are you against an open market?
I know why politicians are against it, it would reduce costs and they would not gain the power.

  17. Kay I really have no fear of my insurance company and why does it bother you that I don’t mind paying my own way?

What is it about self-sufficient people that revolt the leftists?

    • kayinmaine says:

I’m self sufficient and have been since I was 15 years old (first job). Why can’t you tell me how much you pay? If you’re proud of your insurance you would gladly tell me how much and all the benefits of your insurance, but since you keep avoiding the question, I’m going to assume you hate it.

  18. Assume away KKKay. You wouldn’t believe me if I did tell you, it’s none of your business, and you couldn’t buy in if you wanted to since you live in a different state than I.

Isn’t it good the government won’t let health insurance be sold across state lines? The insurance companies love the lack of competition because it allows them to keep their prices artificially inflated. Isn’t it good KKKay?

    • kayinmaine says:

It’s none of my business, Chicken Shit? Really? How come you neocons are concerned about what a woman does with her body then? Huh? How come you want to control the gays in this country? According to the neocon philosophy, you should blurt out how much you pay a month for insurance so you don’t get dragged down the street behind a 1974 Ford pickup!

Buying insurance over state lines doesn’t work and won’t make a difference. Please explain how it will.

Insurance companies hate competition with government, because they enjoy the whole lot of them going up together each month on American’s insurance policies without interruption! See?

  19. Linda Smith says:

It’s so sad you have to lie about Beck. The sad woman Melanie put her money in her business decided to skimp on health insurance. She had cheap insurance. Now whose fault is that? not mine, not Becks. She did not go to the Dr eventhough in St. Louis you can get free mamogram sceenings if you don’t have coverage. This is a FACT check it out. I feel bad for the woman, but the cancer advanced on her because SHE did not go to the Dr. If she had so much time to volunteer for Obama she surely had time to get a second job and pay for better insurance. Sorry but its true.

  20. Linda Smith says:

if we get obamacare there will be rationing and the elderly will end up being left to die. Check out Ezekiel Emanuel, a close advisor of Obama on health issues. His brother is Rahm.
http://www.ncpa.org/pdfs/PIIS0140673609601379.pdf Is this what you want? I sure don’t.

  21. kayinmaine says:

I see Linda is another stupid neocon. Let’s see here….if you have car insurance that covers everything and you can’t afford the payment, what is offered to you? That’s right…A HIGHER DEDUCTIBLE. The same goes for health insurance. Melanie’s insurance covered everything but it was her insurance company who had paid for a lesser experimental treatment (that didn’t work) and refused to pay for the more expensive experimental treatment. THEY WERE HER DEATH PANEL. The End.

Her volunteerism was to help put in a President that would see too our health insurance industry would be reformed to help FUTURE AMERICANS. Melanie knew her days were numbered.

I explained above she had a $5,000 deductible. She put off going to the docs in the beginning because she felt well enough to work (AND SHE STARTED HER BUSINESS WELL BEFORE SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT RETARD!).

Glenn Beck hates our black President. If George Bush was reforming health care, Beck would act like Bush was the savior right now! You’re all hypocrites.

  22. kayinmaine says:

Linda, do you think a 98 year old patient should have triple bypass surgery?

  23. atlanta ralph says:

“Buying insurance over state lines doesn’t work and won’t make a difference.”

Since it is not allowed how is it you know the answer.
Without competition prices are higher, customer service is less. Ever taken Amtrak, used the postal service, done to the DMV. All stalwarts of no competition = no service.

All companies hate competition, even cleaning services, but it brings about a better product at a better price.

  24. MPowell says:

There is obviously a lot of emotion involved when we discuss whether someone lives or die. I didn’t know her and therefore don’t know every detail of Melanie’s decision process.

I admire she took the leap to start a business. What I don’t agree with is when you make a sound business decision, or any financial decision to begin with, you have to ask can I afford this and what are the risks? I think everyone wants to think they’re immortal and nothing bad will happen to them, and the amount of risk that one person is willing to live with is based on the individual. Personally, I would not have taken on a business venture (even if it was my dream) if I could not afford the necessities in life–food, house, clothing, and yes health-care. I am not comfortable with that level of risk, but some people are. I think that if someone accepts that risk they have to own some of the personal responsibility for choosing an insurance plan that has a $5K deductible. I mean that’s like driving around with a car insurance plan with $1-2K deductibles, yea accidents don’t happen often but if you don’t have the money to shell out $1-2K each time there is a problem then chances are you should invest the money up front and buy better protection and coverage. And I think that’s the same with health insurance. Again, I don’t know her personal health history or what plans were available, nor how much the lower deductible plans costs extra each month. Without those data, no one can argue that she was innocent and the insurance company was at fault for denying coverage or offering an affordable insurance plan. For all we know there may have been a better option that she chose not to purchase because she felt like she was in great health and never worried about if disaster should strike.

In addition, it sounds like Melanie even acknowledged she should have sought care earlier but didn’t. I think you have to stop and ask how did I contribute to this situation and what could I have done differently. Yes cancer is tragic, but you have to be your own advocate and follow-up and follow-through on everything in your life, and that definitely applies to health care decisions. Yes it’s sad she has died, and she may have had a longer life with more to give, but I can’t at this point say it’s the insurance company’s fault any more than it is hers for not being proactive and seeking routine preventative care or especially the minute she detected a suspicious lump.

No matter one’s political slant, I think it’s wrong for either side to skew the facts and spin a story to suit their agenda.

    Just my thoughts…

    • kayinmaine says:

I see McPowell is also stupid:

SHE STARTED HER BUSINESS WELL BEFORE SHE CAME DOWN WITH CANCER. SHE HAD NO IDEA SHE WOULD BE SICK AFTER STARTING HER BUSINESS A YEAR BEFORE.

You’re spinning the facts too. She had a $5,000 deductible and when she started not feeling well, she remained working because she knew every office visit, test, etc. would be paid for by her up to the $5,000 mark and not by her insurance company. Gees.

  25. kayinmaine says:
