QUOTE OF THE DAY:

<br />

GLENN BECK AT CPAC 2010: ‘Hello, my name is the Republican Party, and I’ve got a problem. I’m addicted to spending and big government…I’m addicted to spending and I just don’t want to spend today.’ (CLICK HERE FOR LINK TO QUOTE)

"If by a “Liberal” they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties — someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a “Liberal,” then I’m proud to say I’m a “Liberal.” ~ John F. Kennedy, 1960

    Coming from a family where my father, grandfather and brother-in-law served a total of 32 years in elected offices at the county and state levels AS MODERATE REPUBLICANS in the Hoosier state, I continue to be amazed at Democrats like Hamsher who seem to love misery and “suffering” defeats which gives them more leeway to be perennial complainers.

    Ever since coming over to the Democratic Party in 1965, I keep getting upset by the many on the left who love forming circular firing squads. Like I said earlier, Hamsher may talk the talk (it’s cheap) but I don’t think she could ever be elected to any political office as she appears to be an inflexible ideologue. The far left is no better than the far right in some aspects. We are still a nation grouped mainly around the middle which means one has to compromise or die a political death. Rightwing ideology helped to sink Palin, driving away moderates, and hopefully will continue to keep the reich-wingers at bay even though they do get a lot of screaming time on Fox News. I am sure Fox loved to have Hamsher bolster their own views.

  • I don’t understand how any liberal could ban with the teabaggers (those are the people who watch Fox News). Yuck!

    I wonder if Ms. Jane will join the lawsuit proposed by the Attorney General of South Carolina along with Senators Demint and Graham to stop the Senate bill because of the “special deal” made for Ben Nelson’s vote. The South Carolinians say “such a deal” is unconstitutional. I don’t like the deal either but do the Republicans have a point or is it just another DELAY tactic. I am sure special deals have been made to Republican Senators in the past.

    Jane and Taylor Marsh are both just foaming at the mouth these days. Maybe they should get that checked. I really think that most of the rabid anti-Obama-healthcare-compromise folks are bitter Hillary supporters. They also don’t really address the fact that in order to pass anything, Obama has to deal with Lieberman, Nelson, Snowe, Landriu….etc. No acknowledgment of the reality of the situation we are in, it is so much like a kid having a temper tantrum or the “I’m taking my vote and going home” mentality. Now they are making threats to take their legions of followers and do what? Vote Republican? Not vote? I have been countering them by posting that they are exaggerating the “anger” out in the country, they are trying to take poll results and say, see those people are just as mad as I am.
    Folks that have been doing great work on this debate, Nate Silver, Paul Krugman, Bob Cesca, Booman, Ezra Klein…..all have great posts about the reality of the situation. They aren’t happy about no public option, but they are pragmatic about it.

  • Now Jane Hamsher has aligned herself with Grover Norquist:

    Jane obviously has no power so she believes aligning herself with evil pond scum is the way to go. When will she birth Dick Cheney’s child? I’m sure that one is coming soon!

    I can’t wait to see the right wing campaign videos next year featuring Jane the Dumbo in them!

    She reminds me of Dennis Miller who once used to be relevant before going over to the dark side at Fox News. Maybe we weren’t giving her as much attention as she needs.
