Europe has many high-speed rail lines and wonder how many of them may be vulnerable. Spain has its Basque separatists to worry about, too. I rode regular Italian state trains earlier this month, and they were smooth riding, comfortable, clean, quick, and best of all...most inexpensive. I hope that someday Texas can get a high-speed rail line to link Dallas with Austin, San Antonio and Houston. Since American and Southwest Airlines have their headquarters in Dallas, and Continental is here in Houston, those airlines have fought getting rail for Texas fearing the competition. Houston has ONE Amtrak train leaving in each direction ONCE every 24 hours. It's a pity we don't have rail travel for much of America anymore.
