Wow. I can’t believe it’s Thanksgiving Day already. What are you thankful for this year? The year I had was filled with too much unexpected death, but as always, I am thankful for the people in my life over the years and of today who have touched my life positively along the way which has helped me to keep moving on no matter what life brings me. Thanks to all of you (this includes my blogging friends who always bring great laughter to my life when needed! I love ya!). :-)

Sarah Palin will be running in the turkey race in Richland, Washington. Seems appropriate don’t you think! Speaking of turkeys…..CLICK HERE. Bah hahahahahahaha!

UPDATE: Here’s two of the pies I made last night (pecan & pumpkin…the chocolate cream is in the fridge):

(((((HUGGING TEMPLE))))) Hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving! We’re getting ready shortly to sit down and eat our feast:

    Turkey
    Homemade cranberry juice
    Stuffing
Mashed potatoes (from my friend Lee’s garden)
    Candied yams
    Green bean salad w/French Onions
    Bread
Carrots (from my friend Lee’s garden)

And then our choice of pumpkin, pecan, or chocolate cream pie (or all! No rules today!).

    YUMMY!

Has anyone see the pager-intercepts from the morning/day of 9/11/01 that WikiLeaks has posted online? I started reading some of them yesterday while the turkey was cooking and got so depressed! Ugh.

The first mention of the WTC’s being hit is here: http://911.wikileaks.org/files/messages_2001_09_11-08_50_2001_09_11-08_54.html

The Associated Press reported Iraq had shot down a U.S. spy plane right before 9/11/01 started:

Interesting, huh? I don’t remember any follow up to Iraq shooting down a U.S. spy plane, do you?

I hope everyone had a great turkey day. BTW, heard that marinating turkey with Red Bull makes it overcome the sleep inducing Tryptophan!

Drove across Houston yesterday to have dinner with my brother and sister and many of my nieces and nephews and their kids. My brother was just was released from the hospital after a month due to a major stroke. He is doing much better and looks better than when I left for Europe three weeks ago. His speech is coming back but sometimes he talks some nonsense and gets frustrated when we don’t understand his garbled words. We can be thankful he lived through this ordeal as we had even started to prepare for a Last Rite a month ago.

I hit some metal Wednesday that had fallen onto the highway so had my “Black Friday” this morning at Discount Tire where I bought myself my Xmas gift of a new tire for $163. Thankfully, the tire didn’t blow out but lost air slowly. Same happened a year ago but my left FRONT tire did blow out then but I was slowing down for an off-ramp and kept my SUV under control. Too many unsecured loads on our roads anymore.

Now, it’s time to go outside in our high 60’s temperature to start hanging lights along the eaves and drape some trees. We are switching over to LED lights as they consume far less electricity. Since we have no snow here along the Gulf Coast, Texans go all out to light up their houses.

Grant, your first Black Friday purchase was at Discount Tire? LOL! Poor thing. Well, at least you’re okay and didn’t end up in an accident over it. :-)
