It’s no secret that I think Howie Carr is a vile right wing Pig, so it was a little amusing to me to be listening to him the other day go on a rant about how he believes that the recent Newsweek cover of Sarah Palin is the most sexist cover he’s ever seen. Man, I was starting to think that ole Howie was truly changes his colors before my eyes, but then I made the mistake of listening to him again the day after his rant, because during this particular rant about Alexandra Kerry (daughter of John Kerry whom Howie hates and despises!) getting an OUI, ole Howie proved me correct that he is a sexist right wing Pig by telling his listeners (paraphrasing but close), “You gotta see this photo of Alexandra from a few years ago! Hey Sandy (his assistant on the program), put that photo of her up on the website so everyone can see it! I’m telling you right now….if I had to arrest someone dressed like that, I wouldn’t be able to!”.

According to Howie he’s very good at knowing sexism when he sees and he believes it’s not sexist to put a photo up on your website showing the nipples of the daughter of a sitting Senator for everyone to gawk at, but it is sexism if you put up a photo of Sarah Palin on the cover of a magazine where she’s wearing shorts and not a nipple in sight!

Now both the house and Senate have approved a healthcare bill, now they just need to hammer it into it’s final form.
I never thought this day would come and hope the final bill passes in a hurry. I don’t see a reason for it to not go into effect until 2013, should start as soon as it is passed.

Pete, it was shocking that all the Democrats came forward in the Senate. These imbeciles will most likely vote along with the republicans in the end no matter what is in the bill. They make me sick. But! Was glad that at least they all agreed the discussion on health care should proceed.

Great to be home after 2 1/2 weeks in evil “socialist” Europe where I could travel everywhere most cheaply on mass transit compared to here (IF there is any decent mass transit which Houston does NOT have). Except for CNN, MSNBC, and BBC on my ship’s satellite system, I didn’t hear any Europeans talk about any American political news (they didn’t even talk about the “swine flu”). I tend to think we are not legends to the mass of folks sharing this planet. Those elsewhere like our movies and music and that is about as far as it goes.
At least our ship didn’t present Faux News. My Norwegian Cruise Line ship in the Baltic last May ONLY showed Faux News which meant I was totally cut off from what was really happening in the USA.

Europe has the best mass transit system in the world. We have buses that are late, the MTA which is scary and a rail system that is in shambles, except maybe on the East Coast where we have defines business centers and short distances.
I cannot imagine taking a train from Dallas to Chicago and it is because of these expanses that rail is a non-entity in most of the country. Unlike Europe where you can cross countries in a day you couldn’t even get out of Texas in a day by rail and that European rain system is on time, I was a minute late once in Zurich and watched the last car moving away at a distance. Even their cog trains run on time.
All flu seems to be swine flu now and Europe probably sees through the panic where our media creates it.
Australia and New Zealand also have great and cheap mass transit. My hotel in Sydney was between Hyde Park and the City Hall/Victoria shopping mall. Within a half block there was a subway, a monorail to Darling Harbour, and surface buses galore. I took the subway to the Circular Quay and only walked two blocks then to my cruise ship terminal berthed between the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Initially took a train/subway from the airport and once a bus to enjoy Bondi Beach. A car is totally unnecessary there as a transit stop is often only just around the corner.
I wish more stimulus money had been directed towards mass transit but then that would upset the oil companies, maybe even our Big Three automakers.

I love how awful that photo is…the hideous soft gray carpet, with the nap still smooshed from the piece of furniture that was there. The hard lighting on the *ahem* subject – sad. Said ’subject’s’ ’smile’ is thru gritted teeth “take the d*mned picture already!”, not relaxed and happy at all. The abused flag… Plus, there’s something ‘camel-toe’ish about her shorts, not to mention the fluffy shoes on the sill that are (in the pic) eerily on a level w/her cooch.
Yep, there’s fuzzy slippers behind Caribou Barbie in this picture. Very fitting! More like how she is than the rest of the props in the picture which was her way of conveying what she thinks she is but knows isn’t true!
