QUOTE OF THE DAY:

GLENN BECK AT CPAC 2010: ‘Hello, my name is the Republican Party, and I’ve got a problem. I’m addicted to spending and big government…I’m addicted to spending and I just don’t want to spend today.’ (CLICK HERE FOR LINK TO QUOTE)

"If by a “Liberal” they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties — someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a “Liberal,” then I’m proud to say I’m a “Liberal.” ~ John F. Kennedy, 1960

Thank a veteran today any way you can and then tell President Obama bringing our troops home from Afghanistan and Iraq is the only way to show them we care about them (can’t feel good being in illegal occupations where there is no winning to be achieved!) and then remind him a war in Iran and/or Pakistan will not be supported by the majority of Americans no matter how badly Dick Cheney and his Oil Cartel attack America! War is never the answer.

  • Congressman Mike Michaud of Maine’s statement about Veteran’s Day:

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Mike Michaud, Chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health, issued the following statement:

Since the beginning of our nation’s history, our veterans have answered the call of duty with dignity, with courage and with great honor. This Veterans Day, we stand as a country united in honor of our veterans and their families. We come together to show our appreciation for the sacrifices made by all generations of heroes with speeches, parades and music. But we must show our respect not only with words on Veterans Day, but with actions every day.

It is time our government fully lives up to the sacrifices our service members and their families have made. And not just while they are in harm’s way on the battlefield, but also when they come home and take off the uniform.

There are many issues facing our veterans’ community that we must address. I am pleased that we have recently made great strides.

For the first time in history, Congress passed into law a way to guarantee that the VA’s budget is never delayed. Now, mandated by law, Congress must fund VA health care a year in advance. This will allow the VA to hire personnel, buy equipment, and plan outreach efforts so that veterans’ health care needs are met.

In addition to making sure that VA gets funding on time, we are also on the verge of passing the strongest budget ever for the Veteran’s Administration.

A new generation of veterans is coming home from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We pray for their safety, and we hope that they return home to their loved ones as soon as possible. Like the veterans before them, these brave men and women deserve our respect, our gratitude and our care.

It has been said so often, but it can never be said enough: this country owes the greatest debt to its veterans; to the men and women who risked their lives for our freedom. This Veterans Day, all Americans gather to say thank you, and we will never forget.

  • Jim in Michigan

    Kay, I missed you.

The messes W. left Obama in the middle east need to be cleaned up. I’ve felt all along that the problem in both countries is our presence. We need to get out and remove the giant target that we are to the radicals. Let them settle their own internal issues with only humanitarian help from us. As long as we are their, we will be the problem to them. Let the repugs scream and yell, bringing the troops home is supporting the troops. Have a great day, Kay.

  • Thanks Jim! I missed you too. :-)

You are exactly right….bringing our troops home is the only way for us to show we truly care. They were sent to Afghanistan on false pretenses and then more were sent to Iraq on big fat lies & fake patriotism. It’s time to show them that we don’t like them being used IN WEALTHY MEN’S GAMES ANYMORE! Americans are not barbarians and it’s time we lived up to that notion.

Wanna know another difference between bush and Obama,

    The Bush white house never sent me one of these;

    Clif –

Today, on Veterans Day, my message to you is simple: Thank you. Thank you for your selfless service, for your valor, and for your strength of purpose that make all of us proud to be Americans.

Today, Americans will pause amidst a great conversation about the future of our nation to take a moment and recognize your service to our democracy — a service that guarantees us all the liberty to engage freely in that conversation, no matter what our views may be.

We know that we owe you a debt that cannot be repaid. But we can and will fulfill our nation’s promise to stand by you and your loved ones. That is why we’ve worked hard for better care for our veterans, and why we provided the largest increase in Veterans Administration funding in history.

Today, we honor those Americans past and present who’ve served on battlefields from Lexington to Antietam, Normandy to Manila, Inchon to Khe Sanh, Ramadi to Kandahar. You have defended our freedom on land, and at sea, and in the air.

You reflect the diversity that makes this America. You share a patriotism beyond question. And you share the same unflinching courage, selfless compassion, and uncommon camaraderie that — when faced with the tragedy of a despicable and heartbreaking attack last Thursday — the soldiers and civilians of Ft. Hood humbly revealed to the world.

You and your loved ones are the patriotic men and women we honor today, Veterans Day. And you are the men and women we shall honor every day, in times of war and times of peace, so long as our nation endures.

    Thank you.

    President Barack Obama

…… but Obama’s administration did on the very first veterans day he was Commander in Chief.

  • Awwwwww Clif….it brings a tear to my eye! So sweet. And you’re right….George Bush never would have sent a message like that directly to our veterans. Hell, he wouldn’t even allow Americans to see the caskets so we could mourn our war dead!

I’m so happy George Bush is gone! I would be even happier if the man was behind bars never to see daylight again.

Clif, as always, thank you so much for your service to our country! You’re a hero and did a job that not a lot of soldiers do. Bravo to you! You’re one of the bravest men I know. I mean that. :-)

  • Clif

Wanna know how the republiscum “honor” our nations veterans?

    Like this

They deny care to combat veterans when they come home,

They refuse to fully fund the VA at the levels the illegal war bush started requires to treat those wounded soldiers when they return to civilian life,

They allow more vets to die from lack of health care then actually die in combat each year.

Heck of a job GOPers ……..

  • Coburn is the biggest ass, Clif. He’s a typical conservative who only cares about the CEO’s of major corporations having a good year instead of anyone else.

The injuries our soldiers have suffered are atrocious! So sad that our men and women are walking around with such injuries.

  • PRESIDENT OBAMA HAS REJECTED ALL OPTIONS ON THE TABLE FOR AFGAHNISTAN! Wow! This is something. Good for President Obama. BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW!!!
