Basij Member Shoots and Kills a Young Woman

Youtube has already removed the video. Here’s the Liveleak version

Basij shoots to death a young woman in Tehran’s Saturday June 20th protests

    At 19:05 June 20th
Place: Karekar Ave., at the corner crossing Khosravi St. and Salehi st.

A young woman who was standing aside with her father watching the protests was shot by a basij member hiding on the rooftop of a civilian house. He had clear shot at the girl and could not miss her. However, he aimed straight her heart. I am a doctor, so I rushed to try to save her. But the impact of the gunshot was so fierce that the bullet had blasted inside the victim’s chest, and she died in less than 2 minutes.
The protests were going on about 1 kilometers away in the main street and some of the protesting crowd were running from teargas used among them, towards Salehi St.
The film is shot by my friend who was standing beside me.
    Please let the world know.

Power hungry fascists are the same the world over,

Whether they order the dropping of bombs from on innocent civilians in South East or South West Asia, or the roof top murder of an innocent bystander …… they are willing to spill lots of innocent blood to keep their greedy hands on power.

Hopefully the Iranians are successful if toppling the people who give such orders, we were not able to do so for eight long years.

  2. CNN is showing this same video however with most of the bloody scenes deleted. The reich is now saying “Finally” that President Obama has spoken out saying it is too little too late. Aren’t these the same folks, like John McCain who wanted to bomb these brave people not too long ago? They are showing more courage than John McCain ever did.

Yeah, “Bomb, bomb, bomb…bomb, bomb, Iraq!”

  3. CNN kept saying “a blogger online” posted the video. Wouldn’t it be cool if they found it here after Clif posted it? I think so! :-)

One thing I have to remember as I’m watching these protests is figuring out which side of the aisle the people are from. Sometimes I see no green in the crowds and wonder if the news people are getting it wrong (and the crowd is really pro-Ahmadinejad protesters!) when they say these crowds are pro-Moussavi? (or is it Mousavi? I’ve seen it spelled both ways)

  4. The video of 16 year old bystander “Neta” who was shot through the heart has been shown many times on CNN and MSNBC, and she is becoming a “hero” in death. She only lived 2 minutes. Neta in Farsi means “voice” and hopefully the many voices will be heard.

The avoidance of wearing green is in part due to preventing protesters from being shot on sight since the Ayatollah on Friday in essence said they are all fair game for murder.

  5. Although many of the Republican warmongers want us to “take action” in Iran, the cooler heads like Henry Kissinger, Colin Powell, Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN) etc. are supporting Obama and Zbigniew Brzezinski is praising Obama’s moral support which not interfering in the internal affairs of that nation. Brezinski says it is wrong to equate the rebellion in Iran with those of former Soviet bloc nations of Eastern Europe that were “nationalistic” rebellions wanting freedom from a foreign power. Iran is totally an internal affair.

Besides Sen. John “Bomb Iran” McCain, other Republicans on the Sunday talk shows said:

“The president of the United States is supposed to lead the free world, not follow it,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham, (R-SC) “He’s been timid and passive more than I would like.”

“If America stands for democracy and all of these demonstrations are going on in Tehran and other cities over there, and people don’t think that we really care, then obviously they’re going to question, “do we really believe in our principles?’” Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said.

Former Sen. Fred Thompson said, “Obama isn’t doing nearly enough.” while conservative commentator William Bennett said Obama is “bungling his response.”

Yes reich-wingers, lets go ahead now and bomb those brave people on the streets of Iran.

    • Grant, isn’t it funny that the republicans don’t notice these protesters as standing up for freedom? Just the fact they’re yelling, “Death to the dictator!” with Khomeni as their target IS HUGE and it shows how the young people of Iran are fed up with being isolated from the world and want to have people in charge of their nation who will grant an ounce of REAL freedom to them! Republicans have no clue what freedom truly is (even though they spout that they do all the time)! If President Obama was to pull a George Bush by saying something to the effect, “If you don’t step down Mullahs, the United States will take action!”. I mean, come on…..THAT IS THE LAST THING THESE YOUNG IRANIANS NEED RIGHT NOW. They need to know that the United States and the rest of the world hears them, sees them, and supports them!

Thankfully McCain & Palin are not in the White House today! Let’s hope neither one of them ever gets close to it ever again!

  6. this is really really really sad !!!! Kill khomeni , kill these religious fanatics, let people live free … freedom

  7. …the cooler heads like Henry Kissinger, Colin Powell, Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN) etc. are supporting Obama and Zbigniew Brzezinski…

THAT doesn’t scare you, Grant?! These are all Realpolitik guys, a philosophy that has been proven absolutely wrong since the late 1970s.

To argue the pros and cons of the last 80 years of foreign policy is too difficult to discuss on a blog, but, I’d like to understand WHY a tough statement in this case took SO LONG to be issued.

    • It’s amazing voices like Powell, Brzezinski, and Lugar can be heard over the right wing crazies right now who would love nothing more than to start bombing the Iranians because they have no clue and always resort to violence first and then ask questions later!

You ninnies (republicans) are pathetic. Just sit down and shut up, okay? Let the Iranians take the reins and let President Obama continue what he’s doing (not taking sides, encouraging the freedom of dissent, and saying no matter who is the president of Iran, he will still sit down and have talks with them!). Yeah, using diplomacy which is foreign to you republicans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Back when Bush was attacking Iraq, anyone who didn’t support Herr Leader was called a “traitor” and any FREE voice who opposed the reich was called treasonous. Now we have neo-con reich-wingers like Senator Graham and the PNAC crowd undermining the President of the United States. Guess whose voice will be heard over the Iranian state television and in their newspapers?…the meddling Americans!

The Iranians have a better grasp on their history than we know ours. They very much remember when the USA pulled off a coup ‘d etat to overthrow their young democracy in 1953 so that our imperialists could impose our very own (and owned) dictator, the Shah Pahlevi upon them in order that British Petroleum could have their way. Once again the PNAC crowd is looking for another sovereign nation to steal their oil.

    • Good morning Grant! Nice to see you here so early in the morning. ;-)

I’m not an Iranian history expert, but I do know the Iranians worship American culture and want to be just like us which is the exact opposite of what their leaders want. It wasn’t surprising to see Neda dying wearing what appeared to be Western clothes! Sad, sad, sad. The Iranian youth have lost their fathers to war! A whole generation has practically been lost over there! I can’t even imagine it. Really.

Let’s not forget it was Ronald Reagan who was conspiring with the Iranians back in 1980. The republicans love, love, love the Iranians only when it’s useful to them! Republicans don’t give two shits about the Iranian youth or their plight. Glenn Beck has been using the Iranian protests as a way to rally his neck drooling knuckle draggers to do the same thing. Wha? Overthrow President Obama after he was duly elected? Idiots! I’m telling you….if our nation fails IT WILL BE AT THE HANDS OF THE RIGHT WINGERS OF AMERICA. Morons!!

  9. The Neocon PNAC crowd like Wolfowitz, Bill “Mr. Morality” Bennett, and other reich-wingers also putting in their 2 cents worth blasting Obama for being “weak” knows little about Iran other than they have a lot of oil and natural gas.

Appears the revolt may die but Iran is fractured and many never heal. Interesting assessment here:

  10. The PNAC wants to be globally dominant, Grant, so it makes sense that every little conflict on the planet in their minds means war for power!

  11. The neocons have been having “wet dreams” about Iran for years as after Saudi Arabia, they have 10% of the World’s oil reserves. A war with Iran (that is much bigger in size/population and unlike Iraq, has both a Navy and Air Force) would cost another trillion or two, and cost untold thousands of lives, both Iranian and American. And the reich chickenhawks in Congress are bitching about spending a “trillion” on healthcare for our own citizens?

Bush crony Dan Senor (husband of CNN’s Campbell Brown) was just on Morning Joe advocating working with the Iranian “freedom fighters” by sneaking in weapons, intelligence, etc. Surprisingly Scarborough thinks Obama is doing just the right thing, asking for freedoms of assembly and speech but not taking sides. TRUE conservatives like Pat Buchanan also wants us to take a “hands off” stance. Pat, like Ron Paul, also opposed the Bush attack on Iraq.
