Well, it has given conservative talk radio something new to talk about… Listening to them try to speak of torture as legal.. (IMAGINE if it had been done on on a D’s watch! I can hear it now: “Think of the CONSTITUTION!!!!!!!!!”)

  2. Grant in Texas says:

When George H.W. Bush nominated her, she got the votes of Republicans. Now we will see who the real reich partisans are.

  3. Grant in Texas says:

Norwegian Cruise Lines ONLY plays Fox News on the ship’s satellite circuit so I was forced to watch them. To get real world news, thankfully we had the BBC. However, too much was devoted to soccer so did hold my nose to watch the crazies at Faux at times. The majority of passengers out of Dover were Europeans and I was asked if Americans had turned against Obama. I told them that to not let Fox fool them. Everyone I talked with were pro-Obama.

  4. capitalist says:

    Domino,

What form of torture are you referring to. The water boarding, aka frat hazing in college, or beheading civilians, bombs set off in crowds, driving planes into tall buildings. You need to be a little more specific which torture you mean.

Obama bought the union vote now he bought the Hispanic vote. All in all she was a good choice and a smart political move. Now if he can just deal with organizing the community that hates us like N Korea, Iran, Venezuela etc, I will start to support him. Can’t wait to sit around the campfire singing combyya with a bunch of hatemonger, atheist liberals.

Grant, yo need to widen your circle of people you talk to because 92.37% of the people I talk to can’t stand him and what he is doing to our country.

Domino, the Capitalist Pig on this thread is fine with America acting no different than the terrorists. He’s been praying America becomes the new Uzbekistan or Saudi Arabia, because he hates what we have here in America. And the Geneva Convention that for 60 years ruled waterboarding as torture and the same convention that America adhered until George Bush, Dick Cheney, and their attorneys made up their own gawd damn laws? He hates the Geneva Convention. He’d rather have Dick Cheney writes the laws of war and have George Bush write the humanitarian laws (which would be no laws….just an anything goes attitude except on their own family members & their friends!). See? He’s a Sarah Palin supporter, so just ignore him.

  5. kayinmaine says:

I didn’t know too much about Sotomayor, but listening to her today….man!…you can tell she’s a high intellect. You know what that means….SHE WILL SCARE THE HELL OUT OF THE RIGHT WINGERS WHO PREFER THE GEORGE BUSH TYPE, you know, ANYONE WITH AN IQ LESS THAN 70.

Great pick, President Obama! She may be considered a lefty but she’s made rulings in her career that could be considered moderate.

  6. kayinmaine says:

*waving to Grant* Welcome back, Grant! How’s your arm doing and how’s your head cold now that you’re back from your trip to England? I hope both are much better! :-)

  7. capitalist says:

    Kate,

Where in the Geneva Convention does it say waterboarding is torture?
Actually I am not a Palin supporter because I believe she lost the election, to much baggage and a poor choice.

Sotomayor may turn out to be a good choice. She is smart, she achieved everything on her own without affirmative action, she is successful. My only question is why a democrat would choose her because she proves anyone can better themselves if they want it and work hard, goes against the downtrodden, government intervention, democrat ideals.

  8. Chris from Maine says:

sounds like a good pick to me. I’m sure she will be filibustered, will Reid have the balls to bust it? I doubt it, he is Harry Reid after all…

  9. kayinmaine says:

“Torture is forbidden by the Geneva Conventions, both in cases of internal conflicts (Convention I, Art. 3, Sec. 1A), wounded combatants (Convention I, Art. 12), civilians in occupied territories (Convention IV, Art. 32), civilians in international conflicts (Protocol I, Art. 75, Sec. 2Ai) and civilians in internal conflicts (Protocol II, Art. 4, Sec. 2A).”

    http://www.genevaconventions.org/

Explain to me Capitalist Pig Sarah Palin Worshiper, why waterboarding is NOT torture, why almost drowning 83 times in one month is not torture? Why hanging people from the ceiling by their wrists & ankles is not torture?

    Do it, fuckhead.

  10. kayinmaine says:

Sotomayor will be a good Justice for the court. President Obama and Judge Sotomayor are two examples of many liberals in our nation who have worked hard to get ahead in life no matter what their level in society is. Rock on liberals! Woohoo! We rock. Of course we do. ;-)

  11. Grant in Texas says:

If waterboarding isn’t torture then why did the USA execute Japanese military for doing it to American POWs?

    • kayinmaine says:

Exactly Grant. Torture of prisoners was ruled out long ago…until the Bush Pigs came to office. Makes me sick to think about how they skirted the law by “making them legal” in their eyes just so they could feel powerful! Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Sure does.

  12. capitalist says:

There were no Japanese executed for waterboarding. Get your facts straight.

Asano was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor,” Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) told his colleagues last Thursday during the debate on military commissions legislation. “We punished people with 15 years of hard labor when waterboarding was used against Americans in World War II,” he said.

  13. capitalist says:

“President Obama and Judge Sotomayor are two examples of many liberals in our nation who have worked hard to get ahead in life no matter what their level in society is.”

Big difference in the two. Obama was raised in an elite school in Hawaii by his white relatives. Sotomayor was raised poor, mother died young, suffered from diabetes and did this all on her own. She deserves respect for what she has accomplished he used the system, was raised upper middle class and than complained how tough life was.

    • kayinmaine says:

I used the system too when I went to college a few years back. Thank you Pell Grants! Down with republicans and bombs! Up with Democrats, Socialists!, and education!

  14. Insidious Prophet says:

Capitalist, you may be correct in saying that no Japanese were hanged for waterboarding but they and those who allowed it were sent to prison just like Bush and Cheney should be.

How pathetic are you to defend the use of torture. If it had been a democratic president who allowed torture you and all of the rest of the idiots on the right would be screaming for his head.

You idiots better start picking better issues to stand up for because with the way things are going you will only have 21% left to support the republican party in 2010 and 2012.

  15. Clif says:

    UM, .. shit for brains, capi-dummy there was more then ONE trial for war crimes in the Asian theater of operations after WW2;

    Japanese officers WERE executed for water boarding;

    I cite none other then John McCain;

On November 29, 2007, Sen. McCain, while campaigning in St. Petersburg, Florida, said, “Following World War II war crime trials were convened. The Japanese were tried and convicted and hung for war crimes committed against American POWs. Among those charges for which they were convicted was waterboarding.”

Politifact, the St. Petersburg Times’ truth-testing project (which this week was awarded a Pulitzer Prize), scrutinized Sen. McCain’s statement and found it to be true. Here’s the money quote from Politifact:

“McCain is referencing the Tokyo Trials, officially known as the International Military Tribunal for the Far East. After World War II, an international coalition convened to prosecute Japanese soldiers charged with torture. At the top of the list of techniques was water-based interrogation, known variously then as ‘water cure,’ ‘water torture’ and ‘waterboarding,’ according to the charging documents. It simulates drowning.” Politifact went on to report, “A number of the Japanese soldiers convicted by American judges were hanged, while others received lengthy prison sentences or time in labor camps.”

The folks at Politifact interviewed R. John Pritchard, the author of The Tokyo War Crimes Trial: The Complete Transcripts of the Proceedings of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East. They also interviewed Yuma Totani, history professor at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, and consulted the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law, which published a law review article entitled, “Drop by Drop: Forgetting the History of Water Torture in U.S. Courts.”

so stupid STFU when you DON’T know WTF you are talking about.

which, in your case, is most all the time.

And id-a-jet, you already proved the United states considers water boarding a war crime, by the conviction YOU cite numbnuts.

  16. capitalist says:

    Clif,

No executions for waterboarding, torture yes, but not waterboarding.

IP, as usual you twist words. I never said I condone torture I was just pointing out that Grant was incorrect which is not normal for him. He seems to be the intelligent one of the gang of four.

Kay,education is a great thing and the federalists should aid people who do not have the means to pay for college. Your statement said inferred that Sotomayor and your narcissistic leader share similar upbringings which is far from factual because BHO was raised by well to do relatives and went to private schools.

    • kayinmaine says:

Because of the color of their skin and the way they look, Obama & Sotomayor are part of our society who is targeted. Doesn’t mean that they were, but they are more apt to be shot while pumping gas than the rest of us unfortunately. And by the way, do all of us have similar upbringings? Jees. A rich man can spend his whole life lonely and so can a poor man. Get it dumbass? Your little theories as usual (same goes for your despicable party!) are not right and bathed in reality.

  17. capitalist says:

Statistics prove that is is generally their own race that commits the violence on their own. Obama was raised privileged and Sotomayor was raised poor. They are both racists, the both have a firm desire to punis success and reward failure and obama got what he wanted, a Latina female to buy the latin vote.

As to the rest of your incoherent diatribe, I am at a loss for words to a nonsensical rant.

  18. Grant in Texas says:

Obama was not raised in an upper middle class family. He was awarded a SCHOLARSHIP at the fine Punahou School because he was NEEDY AND INTELLIGENT.

I stand by my statement that the USA executed Japanese for waterboarding:

    http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2007/dec/18/john-mccain/history-supports-mccains-stance-on-waterboarding/

  19. capitalist says:

You know that you quoted a republican. That in itself makes it a poor reference because every republican lies, I am sure hatekay would agree.

If you follow your reference it said “The Japanese were tried and convicted and hung for war crimes committed against American POWs. Among those charges for which they were convicted was waterboarding.”

It does not say that they were executed for waterboarding but did say among the charges which appears to mean part of compound charges and that was one of them.

No where could I find proof that someone was executed for solely waterboarding.
