President Obama to address the nation (AGAIN) tonight
Posted on | March 24, 2009 | 62 Comments
Rachel Maddow made the point last night that it took George Bush almost NINE MONTHS to speak directly to the nation, but then again, Georgie was on one big vacation while in the White House until 9/11/01 happened….and then proceeded to take another couple years off over the next seven years too, even when Americans were drowning in their attics, America’s economy was collapsing, and as a good portion of Americans wanted out of Iraq which fell on deaf ears.
Anyway…
Our terrific new President is going to speak again to us tonight about the financial shit pile George Bush left behind (and oversaw for 8 years and did nothing), as well as, talk to us about the 2010 budget. Should be interesting. If you have a question to ask President Obama, you can through Chuck Todd (who will most likely ignore your question but try anyway!): CLICK HERE.
For those doing the Teleprompter Watch: President Obama will be using a teleprompter for the introduction and then will be fielding questions from the media without the use of the teleprompter.
By the way, Rush Limbaugh uses a teleprompter while on the air. What a big fat hypocrite he is for going after President Obama for using one! Of course, Limbaugh has to use one because after years of snorting Oxys up his nose, it affected his eardrums, went completely deaf in one ear (the other one is shot to hell) and now he has to use a teleprompter and a hearing device to do his shows! I thought all wingers picked themselves up by their bootstraps! Get rid of the teleprompter and the hearing device and use your gawd given powers to get the job done! Oh wait. Limbaugh just ate a teleprompter….
Nevermind.
George Bush used a teleprompter, Sarah Palin used a teleprompter, John McCain used a teleprompter…..I mean, really, what is it with the wingers and their sudden disapproval of President Obama using a teleprompter? Huh?

Great segment last night on KO’s show about President Obama laughing when he was on 60 Minutes on Sunday:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/vp/29844520#29844520
Of course, allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll over the Internet the wingers are saying President Obama was laughing at all the families who lost their retirements! Idiots.
March 24th, 2009 @ 6:59 pm
Back in the day, when giving a speech, we called them “index cards” but ain’t modern technology grand. With the teleprompter, one doesn’t have to keep looking up and down at notes, a distraction.
Lincoln probably didn’t have to use notes for his Gettysburg Address since he wrote it and its 200+ words he finished in around two minutes. There are no photos of his giving the speech as by the time the photographer got set up (quite a feat back then), the speech was over.
March 24th, 2009 @ 7:02 pm
Bush often grinned while talking about death and other serious topics but don’t remember it being pointed out by the MSM. However, I am glad Barack made a gaffe on Leno and laughed as otherwise cablenews wouldn’t have much of importance to talk about. If he truly “walked on water” as he was accused of then he would never make human errors.
March 24th, 2009 @ 7:02 pm
President Obama is on right now! And he’s using a teleprompter just like George Bush did! Ain’t that sumpthin…
March 24th, 2009 @ 7:04 pm
He’s sounding very strong, but you wait, Grant…..the MSM will ask him ridiculous questions! I bet Chuck Todd will pick the lamest question asked today to ask President Obama.
March 24th, 2009 @ 7:27 pm
Correction Kay…bUSH didn’t use a teleprompter because he couldn’t read and breath at the same time. Funny thing about the reichwingers, they are obsessed with Barack and the teleprompter as if he’s the only one in the world who uses one. Perhaps they’d be happier if he used cue cards?
March 24th, 2009 @ 7:29 pm
How long before CBS’s Chip Reid finds a slot over at Faux News?
http://crooksandliars.com/tags/chip-reid
However, Obama wasn’t afraid to call on him.
March 24th, 2009 @ 7:46 pm
My partner just arrived home from the gym and was listening to one of our city’s EIGHT Clear Channel radio stations, KTRH (the home of Rush and Hannity), which often interrupted their feed of the Obama speech with a “beep horn sound” which they called their “BS (bull shit) Meter” and instead of broadcasting the press questions, they switched over to “call-ins” so the reich-wingers could take over blasting “not our President”!
I would like to see the FCC go back to “equal access”…..to our PUBLIC airwaves.
Seems Obama is going to all of the “up and coming” “rising (shooting?) star” young talking heads like Ed Henry (who got smacked down!), Jake Tapper, Chuck Todd, Chip Reid. I know Obama is just a “kid” but as an old fart at age 70, I’d like to see some questions fielded from old pros like Helen Thomas, too.
March 24th, 2009 @ 8:20 pm
Once again I must say how nice it is to have a president in the White House who doesn’t act like a spoiled little frat boy, who doesn’t shoot from the hip and actually thinks before opening his mouth and who doesn’t make off handed jokes and gives that evil little grin like he knows everything he’s telling us is a bunch of bullshit and wondering if we are buying it. Good riddance to the former idiot in chief!
March 24th, 2009 @ 8:45 pm
“Good riddance to the former idiot in chief!”
So does that mean he is now responsible for his actions or do we have to wait another 1396 days.
he should go on tv and explain to you grandchildren how h spent their future with all of his programs. Be nice if he would complete one beore he starts another. Now a new gasoline tax, tobacco tax, charity tax.

Skudly you are talking about bUSH right? You know the president whose cost of the unnecessary war in Iraq is at the $ trillion mark and yet to be paid off, oh wait thats right your children and their children and their children can pay off the war debt owed to China.
Yep you must be talking about bUSH, the president who never vetoed a REPUBLICAN spending bill in all of his eight years as idiot in chief.
Yep for sure you must be talking about former president bUSH who along with his treasury secretary Hank Paulson pushed the original TARP bill down congresses throats by claiming the world would end if the TARP bill WITHOUT any transparency wasn’t voted on and passed immediately.
Yep skudly there is no doubt that president bUSH WAS a complete and utter failure in his eight year tenure as our president. Thanks to him and the republicans with their rubber stamp approach and deregulation just what are you going to tell your grandchildren in the future? Oh hell I already know the answer, you’ll blame the democrats like you idiots on the right always do.
March 24th, 2009 @ 10:30 pm
Reading on Free Republic (where I was once instantly banned and deleted!) about how stupid Obama is because he wrote a letter to Jacques Chirac “believing” him to still be the President of France. I Googled it and this is a HOT story all over the reich-wing blogosphere. Seems it came originally from Redstate.com and every reich-wing parrot then put the false story on their blogs. But you have to go through several pages at Google linking to the same lie before hitting upon the TRUTH from the Christian Science Monitor.
The Monitor corrects the lie telling what really happened:
http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2009/03/23/obama-writes-letter-to-chirac-blogosphere-goes-crazy/
The French newspaper, the New Observer, explained that Obama was merely replying to a Chirac letter who was writing him as the head of his foundation — the Jacques Chirac Foundation for sustainable development and cultural dialogue.
Chirac’s foundation is promoting access to water and medicines in west Africa, combating deforestation in the Congo Basin, and trying to save dying languages in Polynesia, according to a spokesman who helped set up the foundation.
How quickly these reich lies grow on the “tubes”!!!! I found the TRUTH after only a few moments of searching. What next?…a story about Obama not being born in the USA??? Jeesh!
March 24th, 2009 @ 11:28 pm
Grant, lies are all the republican’ts have these days. They like to pick of fecal matter and throw it at the wall just to see what sticks and then they run with it for weeks or months on end. They don’t care how insulting this is to their viewers and their viewers don’t seem to care that these blogs or cable news stations KNOW that their viewers are DUMB enough to BELIEVE everything they are told.
Proven lies by republican’s
1-The myth about Obama’s so called phony birth certificate = LIE
2-The myth that the ‘Employee Freedom Of Choice Act’ takes away the secret ballot. = LIE
3-The right wing myth about “The “Fairness Doctrine” = LIE
4-The republican lie that President Obama is going to take our guns away. = LIE
How dishonest are the republicans? Just two weeks ago that bastion of journalism Fox news edited old Joe Biden footage from the presidential campaign to make it sound like he recently said that the fundamentals of our economy are strong. This quote was taken way out of context from during the pressidential campaign. The original footage was of Biden attacking John McCain and repeating what McCain had said about the economy.
The edited footage was shown in between other political pundits claiming that the economy was strong and was aired on some dizzy blonde named Martha’s news show. Of course Fox was busted thanks to Think Progress and yet they never apologized to their viewers whom they insulted or to Joe Biden.
March 24th, 2009 @ 11:29 pm
Those are just recent proven lies by republican’s.
March 24th, 2009 @ 11:48 pm
I missed his alter ego Chuckles tonight……when he is without the teleprompeter he is really boring and dull….I want the guy who laughs at the mess he has and thinks its funny that people are losing jobs, that is so much more entertaing…….BRING BACK CHUCKLES!
March 24th, 2009 @ 11:57 pm
Reporters were told in advance if president was going to call on them. Senior Administration Officials notified reporters from Stars & Stripes, Univision and other news outlets that they should have question ready. Several reporters moved up in assigned seats as result… maybe next time let them send in their questions early so they can be put on the teleprompter so he does not bore us to death again…..man what a dimwit the ol prez has turned out to be,
March 25th, 2009 @ 1:36 am
It’s good to know that Notalib is soooooooooo concerned about the real important issues this country is facing. Thanks to notalib and millions of idiots just like him who supported bUSH and the spendaholic republican’ts no matter what they did for eight years. Thanks notalib, thanks for enabling the president and party who got this country in the mess we are in today! Loser!
March 25th, 2009 @ 1:57 am
According to live blogging at The Swamp, Obama used a straight-on teleprompter for his nine minute speech but didn’t use one for the questions and answers.
Of course our TROLL Notalib LIES and in TROLL fashion never gives a link to substantiate his bloviations. But he appears to have read only some reich-wing blogs like:
http://americaswatchtower.com/2009/03/24/second-obama-press-conference-again-he-has-pre-selected-reporters-ask-questions/
and sites like RedStates.com and the Murdoch-owned Wall Street Journal that hates Obama:
http://www.redstate.com/warner_todd_huston/2009/02/13/obamas-pre-approved-press-list-at-last-getting-notice/
However, Obama called upon a reporter from the reich-wing “Moonie-owned” Washington Times tonight and I am sure if he were fed questions he would “out” Obama. Where was the TROLLs’ outrage when Bush asked the fake “Talon News reporter”, really gay porn star male prostitute, Jeff Gannon, for a softball question?
If you want to know how reporters prepared for tonight, you might read this from Politico:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0309/20403.html
The Bush White House liked to spring its news conferences with as little as a few hours’ notice, on the theory that reporters would have less time to dream up stumpers and zingers. But Obama aides confidently announced tonight’s 8 ET session six days in advance.
There are 160 chairs, and somewhere between 12 and 20 correspondents are likely to get questions. All can be called upon (Ann Compton was flustered not expecting a call) and even a reporter from the Jewish News Agecy (JTA) said he prepared ONE question just in case!
Those called upon were: Jennifer Loven, AP; Chuck Todd, MSNBC; Jake Tapper, ABC; Chip Reid, CBS and the RNC; Lourdes Meluza, Univision; Kevin Barron, Stars and Stripes; Ed Henry, CNN; Major Garrett, Fox News; Mike Allen, Politico; Kevin Chappell, Ebony Magazine; Ann Compton, ABC; John Ward, Washington Times; Steve Collinson of Agence France-Presse (AFP). The major newspapers are already crying that none of them were called, but mostly those from the television and cablenews networks.
March 25th, 2009 @ 2:02 am
It’s not that he uses a teleprompter, it’s how much he uses one considering how ‘great’ of a speaker he’s supposed to be.
Weren’t you the one laughing at ‘Johnny Teleprompter’?
Looks like it’s ‘Barack Teleprompter’!!!
It’s funny how using a TP back then is a big deal but now it’s not. I guess you have to change your ’standards’ to match reality.
Keep on deleting my posts, we all know that you’re spineless and can’t handle criticism.
March 25th, 2009 @ 3:50 am
Trolls complain all of the time here about being deleted (but aren’t).
I don’t even bother to post on reich-wing sites as they will delete/ban/block me in a New York minute. I won’t waste my time at those sites anymore as you cannot change the mind of the brain-washed. Anyway, life is too short to spend it pounding sand in a rat hole. I do lurk on them for laughs sometimes (was at several tonight to get their take on Obama’s speech).
Not Kay’s actions, but I get blocked sometimes half of the time here at WNI by the software used to block Spam. You trolls are lucky that Spamcatcher doesn’t have your number. She and I are at a loss to understand why some of my postings go through and others are blocked, maybe some words I use, links I type, perhaps?
March 25th, 2009 @ 5:11 am
President Obama did fantastic last night! Wow. Was it me or was the most enjoyable part of the night when President Obama cut Ed Henry’s testicles off? I loved it!
March 25th, 2009 @ 5:14 am
Grant, just so you know Clif is attending to a long time friend who has had a heart attack. They’re not sure the friend is going to make it, so Clif won’t be around for awhile. If your comments go in the spam catcher and I’m in bed (like I was last night watching our fabulous President!), they might be in there for awhile. *blushing* Sorry!
Frznagn, ARE YOU THE FUCKING ASSHOLE WHO SAID LAST NIGHT THAT YOU WANT THE OBAMA FAMILY WATERBOARDED? If so, you’re a fucking asshole AND YOUR FUCKING ASININE COMMENTS WILL BE DELETED. Get it asswipe? Now, go back to your pathetic HATE BLOG. If you come back, I will change your comments to, “I love Kay. Great blog Kay”.
You’ve been warned.
March 25th, 2009 @ 5:15 am
By the way, John McCain didn’t know how to use his teleprompter. He got confused like the old man he was. Thank GAWD! he is not the president today along with his sidekick Caribou Barbie. Our nation would be so screwed today. The both of them would be saying, “Everything is fine! Go shopping!”.
March 25th, 2009 @ 5:19 am
And no Notalib, the reporters WERE NOT TOLD IN ADVANCE THAT THEY WOULD BE CALLED ON. It appears Chuck Todd may have been the only one because he was going to ask an American’s question. The rest had no idea if he was going to call on them or not.
If this was a “prepared” news conference then can you please explain why MOST OF THE QUESTIONS WERE ABOUT WALL STREET & THE ECONOMY? Huh? George Bush would have staged it so the real questions would have been lost and the fake ones to make himself feel better would have been asked.
You just can’t handle the fact that we have a smart President who knows what he’s talking about! Keep concentrating on the teleprompter crap because as usual…..you neocons are going to be left on the side of the ride BY OUR DUST.
March 25th, 2009 @ 5:25 am
LOL Couldn’t read and breath at the same time….
He did use a teleprompter, but the funniest part, is he couldn’t say a complete sentence without one! Right trolls? Remember how he would joke his way through a press conference because he was hoping no one would be mean to him by asking him a DIRECT QUESTION, so he would instead crack jokes?
Pathetic man. GEORGE BUSH SHOULD BE IN PRISON ALONG WITH DICK CHENEY! War criminals & THIEVES!
March 25th, 2009 @ 7:04 am
“you cannot change the mind of the brain-washed.” Boy truer words about progressives has never been said.
March 25th, 2009 @ 7:32 am
Insidious you need to sit down for this one. George Bush is no longer the president, tough to take but the truth.
After watching highlights of the obamagram last night and editing out the uh’s, he is bush w/o a prompter, I will agree with his VP, biden I think is his name.
The presidency does not lend itself to on the job training. oBAMA’s main focus is getting as many social programs, tax increases and punish the successful people in place before people wake up.
His answer to the ONN reporter about outrage over bonuses, he just hadn’t been told what to think so of course he couldn’t respond.
March 25th, 2009 @ 7:39 am
George Bush’s messes are still around. Until they’re fixed, Americans will feel his evil presence for a long time.
March 25th, 2009 @ 7:42 am
I remember when you wingers in 2000-2001 soooooooooooooooo loved George Bush. OMG, some of you loved him right up until January 20, 2009 at noontime! So don’t act like you didn’t, okay Dudley & Do Nothing Right?
President Obama has not done a thing that has pissed me off. When he does, you will know about it here. Until then, I will applaud what he’s done, because if you haven’t noticed, it’s the wingers and the conservadems who are livid with him while at the same time saying, “He’s doing just what George Bush did!”. Well then, love President Obama for it! See the predicament you’re in? Maybe you should DENOUNCE GEORGE BUSH & DICK CHENEY AND DEMAND THEY BE ARRESTED AND SENT TO PRISON? You could make lots of friends that way. Oh, but instead you want to blame President Obama for what George did and did not do!
You’re pathetic.
March 25th, 2009 @ 10:40 am
I’m impressed – someone actually trained the chimp in chief to stand on his hind legs. What’s next – will he pour his own grape soda?
March 25th, 2009 @ 10:52 am
Frznagn, ARE YOU THE FUCKING ASSHOLE WHO SAID LAST NIGHT THAT YOU WANT THE OBAMA FAMILY WATERBOARDED?
Sorry Kay, but that wasn’t me. Those comments are made by the wingnuts or some other group. My political views are far more moderate than theirs.
I don’t wish anyone to be waterboarded, not even you.
Surprised?
March 25th, 2009 @ 11:04 am
Hey Kay, they are running out of Donkeys in Tijuana and need to keep the Donkey Shows going. Get down there now – answer your calling!
Just like Cliffi did!
March 25th, 2009 @ 12:16 pm
He read that opening statement from one massive TV monitor from the back and middle of the East Room. White House officials removed the normal glass teleprompters that usually are positioned on both sides of the podium. That change likely a reaction to the focus on the President’s heavy use of teleprompters.
March 25th, 2009 @ 12:23 pm
The big boys at the NY Times, WaPo, USA Today have remarked they are unhappy that in a time when newspapers are hurting, Obama primarily called on TV journalists.
For once our PRESIDENT acts like an educated MAN, not the frat boy jerk Bush often portrayed at his RARE press conferences where he often acted like he was addressing a Kiwanis luncheon with lame jokes, dopey nick-names for the press corp like “Stretch” for David Gregory and “Shades” for a blind reporter from the L.A. TImes (who wore sunglasses). Georgy Boy probably felt that if he could appear to be a “buddy” of a journalist, they would only field softball questions which they often did (Bush seemed always running for president of his Deke fraternity at Yale). If the journalists asked hard questions like Helen Thomas would do, they were moved next time to the back of the room and some never called upon again.
Bush responded to a difficult question by acting as if the question was impossibly silly and often gave an “answer” totally unrelated to the question, diverting instead to what HE WANTED to talk about. If the press corps (which he called the “gaggle” as in a flock of geese which often turned out to be the reality) pressed on for an answer, he treated them to his smirking tone as if he was scolding babies. And babies they often became having learned the difference between punishment and reward. Bush’s answers often made no sense within the context of a rational world, but his cooing and jangling of keys was usually sufficient to enthrall David Gregory and the rest of the pack.
March 25th, 2009 @ 3:20 pm
The “Chimp in Chief”? Was George Bush speaking last night? I don’t think so. Huh.
Hey Top Shelf! The local circus has a bunch of elephants walking around in a circle holding each other’s tails and they want you to join in! Have fun!
March 25th, 2009 @ 3:29 pm
I certainly know who’ll be behind them with the shovel. You are what you scoop.
Re: Osama Obama as so-called President? Only one thing to say – “Lincoln fucked up!”
March 25th, 2009 @ 4:30 pm
Top Shelf, you’re admitting that you elephants shit all over the place and it’s we Americans who have to pick it up? Wow! Sounds an awful lot like AIG at the moment, huh?
Osama Obama? How’s Bushitler these days?
March 25th, 2009 @ 6:12 pm
Speaking of Elephant diarrhea your BOY is already below 50% approval rating within two months. This is the earliest EVER RECORDED that a President has been that low.
If he makes it to the next election (I’m sure he’ll be tarred and feathered by then (makes since because he LOOKS like tar)) Pee-Wee Harman will annihilate him!!!!
ps Lincoln fucked up!
March 25th, 2009 @ 6:28 pm
ps I fucked up I had a militia of 100 that were going to go across the country tracking down republican trolls and knocking sense into them, until I realized they have no sense.
March 25th, 2009 @ 6:37 pm
Well, let’s see here….George Bush was still the president on January 8, and then on January 26 (70% disapproved in the direction of the country), President Obama was president for 5 DAYS. Then two months later Zogby does another poll and it’s about half and half in favor of it going better than getting worse. Sorry pal! But seems to me that fixing Wall Street and the economy is not an easy fix, but at least THE NUMBERS ARE IMPROVING ACCORDING TO THE POLL YOU LINKED TO!
You’re just dumb. Admit it.
March 25th, 2009 @ 6:38 pm
LOL Insidious. You and your 100 men/women would have been pummeling noodle heads.
March 25th, 2009 @ 7:10 pm
Today, Obama’s approval rating is 64% so our RACIST TROLL Top Shelf who hates it that Lincoln freed the slaves and we have President Obama nearly 150 years later has his head again up his behind. Lincoln also founded the Republican Party too so I imagine the fascist neocons hate him for that too.
March 25th, 2009 @ 7:16 pm
Grant, isn’t it hysterical when the trolls can’t even see the positive light in one of their pathetic polls they post? Personally, I love it and thrive on it.
And yes, his overall approval rating has only gone down a few points since he took office and that’s because those who voted for him are RATIONAL AMERICANS who understand the economy/Wall Street are not easy fixes and is going to take some time to work through!
He’s done a fabulous job so far.
March 25th, 2009 @ 8:38 pm
He’s done a fabulous job so far.
So you agree with him reserving torture as an option? You agree with him reserving rendition as an option? You agree with him spending more blood and treasure in Afghanistan? You agree with his bailout of his rich Wall Street buddies? These are all the things you hated about Bush.
You’re such a hypocrite.
March 25th, 2009 @ 9:05 pm
actually it’s 56% approval rating. 36% approve of the job he is doing and 31% disapprove, guess the other 33% don’t care.
He has promised to increase the deficit in the next ten years more than all of the presidents combined since George (Washington that is).
You can support the obama policies of supporting the non-productive at the expense of the productive but someone is going to have to pay for all of his programs and it will be every american with tax increases. Even the country of California has found out that doesn’t work.
He has promised to raise income tax on the “rich”.
Raise tobacco tax – hurts mainly the poor
Raise fuel tax – hurts evryone
Raise corporate tax – hurts everyone
Universal Healthcare – helps 15% of the population
Mortgage bailout – helps 7%
Carbon output tax (whatever that is) helps no one
Divide the country into have and have nots
Obamanomics are not good for the vast majority of the American people. Explain what is good about any of his policies.
March 25th, 2009 @ 10:40 pm
Gallup has had Obama at 65-63% all this week. His lowest poll (which our troll selected) was the Zogby poll….the lowest number.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/113980/Gallup-Daily-Obama-Job-Approval.aspx
Obama will raise taxes on the rich by 4% and cut everyone’s taxes below the current brackets. The gap between rich and poor has continued to grow in our nation, often at obscene levels when CEO’s income is compared to the average worker under them…making hundreds of times more money.
Reagan was the great redistributionist moving money from the 98% in the middle class and poor to the rich 2%. THE WALL STREET JOURNAL last fall reported a recent study from Pew found that the top .01% or 14,000 American families hold 22.2% of wealth — the bottom 90%, or over 133 million families, just 4% of the nation’s wealth.
Fuel tax is too low compared to most every other nation in the world. Shouldn’t those who drive the most pay the most taxes to build and repair our roads and bridges. Why should a senior citizen who only drives to church and the grocery once a week pay as much for our highways as somebody who drives 50 miles a day.
Of course our TROLL SKUDRUNNER must be filthy rich, got HIS…to hell with everyone else. Already has indicated to not giving a damn about what Jesus said about a Christian’s duty to take care of the “least of us”!
March 26th, 2009 @ 3:05 am
http://notaib.com/
wow!
The content is stunning!
March 26th, 2009 @ 7:38 am
Grant,
Your poll was for March 17 but that’s OK to use old data.
Your statements about Reagan are without merit. Reagan lowered the tax rates at the same time eliminating a number of deductions.
Saying gas tax is to low, you must ride a bicycle and don’t care. Under the present gasoline/fuel tax system the more you drive the more you pay because you will use more gas therefore pay more taxes. I have a six year old neighbor who will explain that to you if you like.
Obamanomics will have a greater impact on the less to do than the well to do. Taxing our way into prosperity will not work, never has for any country at any time.
As for being “filthy rich” I would say comfortable but not filthy rich (why is being rich, filthy). I have worked for everything I have and continue to work. I am all for helping those who CANNOT help themselves but I object my efforts used to create another generation of poor. It is the democrats and their policies who have created more generational poverty than any other factor.
Change We Can Believe In
Because everyone deserves some of what I have worked hard for
March 26th, 2009 @ 7:42 am
Reagan had the biggest deficit/debt in the history of our nation (until George W. Bush came along), but said at the time, “Deficits don’t matter”. Uh ha.
He put our nation into recession and then handed the reins to George H.W. Bush, who then proceeded to invade Iraq in the hopes in bringing our nation out of it! Didn’t work. It never does.
I’ve worked hard for everything I have to. You neocons are just so impressed with people with millions, when really, my 3bedroom/1bath house would really impress you if it was an apartment in New York rather than a ranch in Maine! See how you are? You’re despicable and materialistic. Pond scum.
George Bush bankrupted us even further, but he didn’t create any jobs when doing so. He lost jobs and allowed the uber wealthy to continue to pilfer and plunder taxpayers.
He’s pond scum too.
March 26th, 2009 @ 7:43 am
President Obama will create long term jobs which is something the wingers hate. You watch, he’ll fix the economy but the next republican president WILL FUCK IT UP AGAIN AND ALLOW THE CORPORATE WEALTHY WHORES TO STEAL TAXPAYER MONEY ONCE AGAIN! It’s a given. THE REPUBLIC PARTY IS FULL OF THIEVES.
March 26th, 2009 @ 10:36 am
Notalib can read all of the polls he wants to if it makes him feel better but the reality is President Obama will be around for three more years or more so get used to it you irrelevant little phuck!
March 26th, 2009 @ 11:02 am
Actually Insidious America has time remaining before new president is sworn in 3 years, 9 months, and 25 days.
Kay are you really that stupid….never mind I know the answer……the president does NOT create jobs, PRIVATE business does…….but that fact will be ignored and you will just call me a taliban or some garbage because thats all you have in your life.
March 26th, 2009 @ 11:25 am
Notalib, keep dreaming pal, no matter how much your party obstructs Obama will be a two term president and your beloved party will and has become irrelevant in the eyes of intelligent American people who are tired of the fear, the lies, the hate that comes from the right.

The most respected Gallup had Obama at 62 yesterday, down SEVEN from his high of 69 right after the inauguration. Not bad numbers for all of the vitriolic he continues to get from Limbaugh and his ilk, the Boner/Cantor/Jindal roadshow. You can get each days polling by moving your cursor over the graph line:

The DOW as I type is UP 150 and now at 7900. It has been going UP for nearly a week and the reich is suddenly silent about the Dow (teleprompters are more important!).
After watching Obama’s Internet Town Hall, just watched the Boner and Cantor “show” live on MSNBC where they revealed their “plans” which contained NOTHING, NO SOLUTIONS, but they did use the air time to blast what Obama wants…calling him “far left” and saying he is kowtowing to MoveOn.org. (always a whipping boy for Rush et al). Yesterday Boner cried that the Democrats aren’t considering THEIR plans. HELLO….didn’t the Republicans LOSE???

I noticed a difference in the Obama presser in contrast to the rare such events Bush would hold in the East Room. When the Chimperor would exit the room, he would be surrounded by a
whole legion of aides, PR people and flappers. However, Tuesday night, Obama, after thanking everyone, simply turned and went into a side door and disappeared — alone, without one aide, bodyguard, or flack. Unlike the little Caligula…Bush, President Obama seemed to be sufficiently self-confident to come and go on his own. He is a cool one, seemingly confident in his skin.
I was most impressed today how he conducted himself in the Internet “Town Hall” meeting taking questions from citizens, not the media this time.

In May 2007, I spent a month in Europe, traveling 5000 miles through 13 nations, several in the old Soviet Bloc I didn’t get to visit in both 1975 and 1976, the last time I was there. (I just booked a two week cruise on the Baltic in May so will get to see how “socialism” as wrecked Scandanavia).
The last 2000 miles I was in a Mercedes turbo-diesel I rented at the Frankfurt airport. I drove it throught the Benelux, France, Netherlands, and back to Germany. I paid $6 a gallon (U.S.) for diesel (gas was $7 U.S. and the Euro was equal to $1.50 at the time) HOWEVER my Mercedes sometimes got nearly 50 mpg, so in reality I spent no more there than here at home in cars that get below 30 mpg. Europeans pay the same for a barrel of crude as we do so the difference is fuel taxes. The highways in Europe (even the old Soviet part) are fantastic now, didn’t hit a bump or pothole in those 5000 miles. Europe has improved so much since the last time I spent two weeks there in 1996.
Below is a map of the world showing the Gini Coefficient which defines the gap between rich and poor. The U.S.A. is worse than any European nation, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Japan and Denmark have the best rating but there the CEOS don’t make 400 times what their workers make either:

Dis Chavez as much as you want but Venezuela now has the least disparity in South America. No wonder El Salvador recently voted for liberal rule after suffering under Raygun era right-wing tyrants for decades.

You must have visited a different part of the soviet blco than I did because the traffic and roads were terrible. Have you been to the Ukraine and Romania.
Diesels are the way to go but the huggers blast them. As far as the advantages of a socialist country, if you like it they will probably welcome you with open arms. If you go take a couple of liberals with you because I am getting tired of supporting them

I was in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, and Slovenia and was pleasantly surprised. They didn’t have the fine new freeways that are found in Western Europe but their roads were in good repair and they were building new ones, also. I am leaving in May for the Baltic and will visit Estonia and St. Petersburg, Russia, so will get to see how far they have come. The best thing about Europe (found the same was true in Australia and New Zealand in January) is the fine (and cheap) mass transit. I will spend four days in London in May and can take a train or “the tube” to anywhere I want to go only requiring a few blocks of walking from my hotel near Victoria Station where I also stayed in 1976. Looking forward to seeing the changes in London, and plan to take a ride on “The Eye” 1350 ft. high “Ferris Wheel”. Houston will never become a “London” as we tear down, implode our buildings every thirty years. Big argument now about blowing up the old (Eighth Wonder of the World” Astrodome that’s being allowed to deteriorate. It was built by the taxpayers in the 1960’s and given to the Houston Oilers millionaire oilman, owner Bud Adams.
VW since last August has exported their new Jetta TDI turbo-diesel to the U.S. that gets around 45 mpg that my partner is seriously considering buying.

Love this cartoon in my morning’s Chronicle about teleprompters:

Back in the day before modern technology, we called them “index cards!”

Not only did Bush use teleprompters his handlers even put up phonetic spellings so he could pronounce big hard words correctly (they either never put up NEW-klee-er or he refused to pronounce it correctly as he never stopped saying nuke-ku-ler).
When Bush spoke at the UN, his teleprompter included phonetic spellings for a friend he had already met, French President Nicolas Sarkozy (sar-KO-zee). Zimbabwe leader Robert Mugabe (moo-GAH-bee) also was on the teleprompter.
Pronunciations were also provided for Kyrgyzstan (KEYR-geez-stan), Mauritania (moor-EH-tain-ee-a) and the Zimbabwe capital Harare (hah-RAR-ray). It’s not like could have practiced the pronunciations earlier, before his speech, but he was busy riding his bike.

Maybe Obama can address the nation again. We need another inspirational speech to send the market into a tail spin. He is so inspiring that millions of Americans are selling their wealth and burying it in the back yard.
