    You know, I was just saying this very thing, kaye! It’s disgusting – did you see that those idiot right-wing protestors were actually requesting coverage when there were only like 5 THOUSAND of them in one of the cities??? Who the hell would cover a measly little protest like that, anyway??! They’re nuts! Meanwhile, the AIG protest brought one small busload of our people out for our movement, and 22 press vans following it. They were waiting for more buses but it didn’t pan out – oops heh. Hey, everyone has an off day. Still, they know we are the REAL movement and that is why the press actually covers our protests and doesn’t cover these idiot “tea parties”. Phbt.

    Good morning skudrunner. Maybe the democrats who are in the news for not paying taxes are close enough to the hub to know how many trillions are “lost.” over 2 trillion from DOD. How do you lose that much money with no investigation?

    Paying taxes is a faith based initiative anyway. The Republics think any return on tax dollars for Maine Street is an entitlement. Even social security , which is an insurance program. Still, the govt. steals from an insurance program funded by payroll taxes. The billions given away to banking and Wall Street have not been called an entitlement yet.

    Help me to understand…I am sure you have an answer skud.

I was going to comment about Grants comment from Matthew 25:33-40 about how Jesus will line up the good people (sheep) on the right and the bad people (goats) on the left and say that most of that verse goes over the idiots on the reich and the phony Christians because all they read is the right/left thing and thats all they need to know…Way to skudrunner!     I actually know that some of these batshit crazy so called xians will not sit in the pews to the left of the podium. This is how stupid and brainwashed these sheople really are.     The GOOD people according to Jesus are those who care for their brethren, which counts out many selfish and greedy Republicans who have an attitude of “I’ve got mine, the rest can go to hell”!

    Right now we are having a cross war on our Houston freeways between a Baptist Church and an Assembly of God Mega-Church over who can build the tallest “million dollar” cross. Sagemont has theirs built already, a 170 foot high eyesore next to a freeway near my house that was just dedicated March 1st.

    Close by Grace Church on I-45 South (Gulf Freeway) now is not allowed by the FAA to build their 200 ft high cross to break the Guinness world record (and also beat Sagemont by 30 feet!) because it would be in the flyway of Hobby Airport and Ellington AFB so cannot be over 150 feet. The tallest cross in America is in Effingham, IL which is 198 feet high.

    Below is a link to Grace Church’s proposed crosses. They plan a second cross on I-45 north of the city at The Woodlands which is far enough away from George H.W. Bush International Airport to be legal. Both crosses will amount to an outlay of over $2 million by the churches. Houston has a lot of visual blight due to billboards but Rev. Riggle of Grace now wants to erect these monstrous crosses at every freeway entrance to our city. He wants to counteract the “topless bars” and adult bookstores visible from our freeways (but none have erected a 200 foot high penis along our roads!):

    With the “Ladybird law”, businesses are erecting smaller signs and those that are tall have been “grandfathered”. But a church is not bound by zoning laws, just as they are exempt from taxation. Some neighbors within a mile of the Sagemont Church already are upset that their view of the night sky from their homes has this monstrosity lit up with floodlights always in view. I am sure they will be “saved” by the view!
    Nothing like reich-wing fundies spending MILLIONS for crosses while many are going hungry. Jesus weeps!

    Grant, my two republican sisters, along with my independent sister and two of my nieces just came back from a week long roadtrip/vacation to Dallas, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Padre Island. They all loved San Antonio and the river front and enjoyed the beauty of that city along with Corpus Christi and Padre Island. They said the weather was nice 75-80 with a nice breeze.     My Republican sister, after retirement became ordained in the fairly liberal Disciples of Christ (known as “First Christian” in small towns) that runs TCU, Drake, and Butler. She was an outreach pastor in a church big enough to have several pastors. Her main job was to run a food pantry and work with Habitat for Humanity (where she swung a hammer up into her 70’s). She was so upset by Sarah Palin’s religious views that she voted for Obama, and she had voted straight Republican since Eisenhower.

    San Antonio is a beautiful city, with a strong Mexican flavor. It’s unique like Santa Fe and New Orleans which don’t look like every other American city.

    Speaking of winter, we really don’t have much “winter” here when we can have 80 degrees even in January. But we are subjected to “blue northers” or “Canadian clippers” which can drop an 80° degree day to near freezing in minutes, then in two days we are back up to 80° again. Today it’s not quite been up to 80° as it has been cloudy with a “cold front” coming in tonight, a thunderstorm dropping tomorrow’s temps to only 68° in the morning. But with sunny skies it should warm up with less humidity. My deciduous trees have leafed out except for mesquite, pistachio, and poinciana. Most are oaks, elms, and maples. My redbud is in bloom with leaves coming then.

    I was an altar boy up into my college years, and for some time considered becoming a Benedictine priest after a couple of retreats at two of their monasteries. Unlike many Christians I know, I have actually read the Bible through several times (George Bush also made that claim!).

    Considering a church vocation, I not only took a college course on the Bible (taught by a Benedictine) but also began reading T.S. Eliot, Hans Küng, Thomas Merton, Karl Barth, etc. but at age 26, I had an epiphany and became an atheist as studying religions only made me believe that all were man-made, that no gods exist, that religion is a tool of the powerful to keep the people in control.

    My family are all over the map, the majority still Catholic, but also Lutheran, Disciples of Christ, Methodist, Baptist, Unitarian, Taoist, Buddhist, and Jewish. We all get along save for one Assembly of God cousin who emails everyone all of the time with religious matter (and during the campaign sent me every outrageous lie out there about Obama). We just ignore him but that doesn’t stop his emails and preaching.

    Grant someone famous was once quoted as saying “religion is what keeps the poor from killing the rich.”

    I question a lot of things including my faith but in the end I still believe and have faith in a higher power. We are taught to spread the seeds but I was never one to push my religious beliefs on to others and only bring them up when someone asks a question about God or Jesus.

    To me being a Christian is a way of life not a “religion” and most religions are enslavement in a way.
