Well, that didn’t take long. I honestly gave Sen. Judd Gregg the benefit of the doubt when he resigned as a nominee for President’s Obama Commerce Secretary position. During his press conference he appeared to be genuinely upset for having to resign and I figured he had been hounded by the American Taliban (the GOP) members to back out, because they wanted Gregg to show their loyalty to them instead! Nope. I was wrong. Gregg wasn’t an innocent victim of bullying from the American Taliban. Instead, it now appears Gregg used his powers as a US Senator to bring money to Pease Airforce Base to financially benefit himself and his brother who was also invested.
From the Associated Press:
WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Judd Gregg, President Barack Obama’s former nominee for commerce secretary, won taxpayer money for redevelopment of a shuttered Air Force base where he and his brother had invested in commercial property, an Associated Press investigation found.
Gregg, R-N.H., has personally invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in Cyrus Gregg’s office projects at the Pease International Tradeport, a Portsmouth business park built at the defunct Pease Air Force Base, once home to nuclear bombers. Judd Gregg has collected at least $240,017 to $651,801 from his investments there, Senate records show, while helping to arrange at least $66 million in federal aid for the former base.
Huh. And I honestly felt bad for Gregg originally! I can now chalk him up to be no different than the rest of the American Taliban.
Anyone remember when republican Speaker of the House, Denny Hastert, under George Bush did the same thing as Gregg back in 2006? Yeah, yeah, Hastert with his power as Speaker of the House purposely pointed American taxpayer money to fund a highway project that ultimately increased the value of the land he owned and he walked away with $2,000,000 because of it!
REMEMBER: IOKIYAR (it’s okay if you’re a republican). See? If you don’t pay $34,000 in taxes and you’re a Democrat? You’re bad. But if you purposely push & point earmarks to your state to financially benefit yourself and your investments to the tune of millions and you’re a republican? It’s okay!
