Where was Sen. Susan Collins when Halliburton/KBR was raping their own employees?

Sen. Susan Collins of Maine has always been George Bush’s Commander Girl, and over the last 8 years, she and Joe LIEberman, who were (and still are!) the Chair & Co-Chair of the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee, made sure that any crimes committed by the Bush Regime or their underlings would be swept under the table, because between the two of them, having George Bush (and Dick Cheney’s company, Halliburton!) be damned for anything, well, was considered unpatriotic by these two asswipes.

Fast forward to today and Sen. Susan Collins has brought forth a resolution condemning the brutal death of a Somali teenager, because this child was raped and then stoned to death in the public square because of this rape. This resolution passed overwhelmingly as it should have. But what about the female contractor who worked for Halliburton/KBR over in Iraq who was brutally raped by her male American employees of these companies to the point one of the women required having her BREASTS REATTACHED TO HER RIB CAGE BECAUSE THEY WERE PULLED AWAY FROM IT AFTER BEING GANG RAPED!? And what about this woman? Huh? What about these women!!!! And why didn’t she or Joe LIEberman bring forth a resolution when they were the Chair (Collins was the Chair from 2002-2006 and Joe is the Chair today since 2006) condemning the brutal gang rapes of American female contractors by American male contractors while working in Iraq? Where the hell was Susan on any of this!!!!!!

Do you care about LaVena Johnson who was raped, tortured, set afire and our military in Iraq said she had committed suicide? Huh Suzie-Q? Care about this woman or do you just care about the non-American women being raped and murdered? Spit. Oh, that’s right. Collins can’t condemn anyone who is associated with the Bush Regime. Neither can LIEberman. These two are a disgrace to our nation for crying out loud!

I’m happy with the resolution condeming the actions taken against this child in Somali, but man! Can we have some REAL justice against the criminals in our own nation who are committing atrocities against the people of Iraq, as well as, our own? Jees.

As you say Kay, absolutely right about that poor girl being stoned to death having justice…..but because it looks bad on the administration, lets just overlook any wrong doing against our own.
Joe Lieberman is definitely with the right crowd though isn’t he…I think Obama should have booted him off…he’s nothing more than a traitor.
I hope to God when Obama takes over that all this kind of crap will be dealt with severely and those folks punished to the highest order.

Of course, the neocon was missing the whole point of what I was saying about the overturning of the death penalty for those who rape children, which was: THERE IS NO ONE CURRENTLY OR WILL BE IN THE FUTURE ON DEATH ROW WHO RAPED ANYONE. The death penalty is only for those who have killed and murdered. Spending life in prison for the raping of a child? You betcha! I’m all for it. And besides? Unforunately Mainers are not as progressive as a lot of us wish.. most older people (senior citizens) dont want to “rock the boat” and just vote for the incumbent thinking (incorrectly) that they will get more stuff for Maine if they have more seniority.

Plus Allen ran a bad campaign, he never attacked Collins hard enough, and didnt do enough to tie her to Bush/McCain.

Next chance we Mainers get for real change I guess is in 2012 when Snowe comes up again.

On the bright side, Allen might be Governor in 2010.

Every women experiences a different reaction when they’re raped. Until rape ends in this country, the suffering of women will not no matter how long or short their after effects are. Some women are defiant after they’re raped (I’m sure this is rare but it does happen) and go on with their life once their attacker is put in prison.

Here’s what I said in the original post since you’re too lazy to go look yourself:

Rape is a horrific, vile, violent crime and I don’t care if it’s done to a child, a teenager, an adult, or against one of the prisoners at GITMO, Abu Graib, or in a secret CIA prison around the world. Rape is a punishable crime, The End. But is the death penalty warranted in ONLY the rape of a child? Let’s think about this for a minute…..as the Associated Press article points out, those on Death Row in this country are there because they KILLED someone. Their crime was horrific enough to warrant the death penalty and I’m sure every single case…the death penalty is the correct decision for these men & women (that is…if they are truly guilty, but that’s another post!). But….there has never been a rapist on Death Row WITHOUT the death of the victim. I have to say, I agree with the Court’s decision on this. As brutal as the crime of rape is, I think life in prison without the possibility of parole is the best decision, especially for those rapists who will most likely rape again if given the chance.

I’m not sure if you saw the video of a Massachusetts state rep giving his thoughts on mandatory minimum sentences for crimes against children, but when I first saw this Democrat spewing “hate”, I was livid. I’ve settled down a bit now.

What are your thoughts on what he’s saying? Rather than letting the jury decide on the punishment for the defendant if found guilty of the crime against a child, a mandatory sentence of 10-15 years minimum would be imposed no matter what. Our emotional brains will always react, “Good! Let the bastards rot in hell for that long!”, but from what I’m understanding is Rep. Fagan is saying he does not LIKE the idea of going after a child hard on the stand who has gone through a most unbelievable horrific crime just so he can defend his client with. He has a point, but does he really?

Of course, I can see a mandatory minimum sentence for repeat sex offenders. This kind of criminal should be facing at least 15 years in prison because of his or her pathological history and should not have been let out the first time. Maybe the “jury of his peers” is the problem here? Could be.

But…

If you think about it, allowing the death penalty for the rape of a child could force the rapists in the future to kill their victims so the one and only witness to the crime is silenced. Yes, I know, the death penalty in this country has not deterred crime and doesn’t work. Personally, I’m against the death penalty, but like Barack Obama pointed out…it is warranted in some cases. As a society, sometimes the most egregious of crimes should end with the death of the criminal! That said, I don’t agree with Barack that ALL crimes against children warrants the death penalty. The after effects of rape and sexual assault can be dealt with in time (believe me…as a woman I am not making light of rape! I’m getting light headed just writing this post!), but I don’t believe the death penalty is the answer to it. And besides, how many child rapists/murderers last a long time in prison? They tend to get their justice if you know what I mean (think Jeffrey Dahmer and Catholic Priest John Geoghan).

What are your thoughts on these two US Supreme Court rulings?
