Harry Reid, Joe LIEberman, and the Democratic Party
So the schmucks in the Democratic Party decided today to give the finger to the liberals, progressives, Democrats, and rational republicans who worked hard for 3 years now (the year before the 2006 election I’m talking about) to put Democrats in office to FORCE REAL CHANGE, and we find out today that they don’t give a shit about that nor do they really understand what it was about Joe LIEberman that has pissed us off.
For starters, Assholes of the Democratic Party, here’s a few reasons for you to fucking assholes ponder:
- JOE IS NO LONGER A DEMOCRAT. HE HATES DEMOCRATS, THINKS WE’RE UNPATRIOTIC, AND THINKS DEMOCRATS & REPUBLICANS SHOULD BE KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE IN FOREIGN LANDS FOR FUCKING ISRAEL. “TO HELL WITH AMERICANS” IS JOE’S MANTRA SINCE 9/11/01
- JOE REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE THE WHITE HOUSE AND THEIR UNDERLINGS FOR THEIR ROLE AFTER KATRINA. A little reminder….(CLICK HERE TO SEE WHAT BARACK OBAMA WAS DOING AFTER KATRINA)
- JOE CAMPAIGNED FOR JOHN MCCAIN AND REFUSED TO ONCE SAY A KIND WORD ABOUT BARACK OBAMA THE WHOLE TIME HE WAS CAMPAIGNING FOR MCCAIN…..A BUSH SUPPORTER
Joe LIEberman spent the last 8 years along with Sen. Susan Collins, a republican, screwing the American people over by doing zero oversight of Halliburton, KBR, Betchel, Blackwater, and other contractors as the heads of the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee! Nothing! They did mock hearings and then did nothing. They are both an abomination and the official Brownshirts of the Bush Republican Party for crying out loud! As Jane Hamsher points out below, Joe LIEberman has not earned his right to hold a gavel of any fucking committee!!!!
Here’s what I heard Harry Reid saying today at his press conference right after he and the Democrats voted to keep Joe:
“We love Joe Lieberman. He equals change and we don’t care if he’s a republican, votes with the republicans, campaigns for the republicans, and thinks we Democrats are unpatriotic, because we’re not republicans….we just love him to death! In fact, you reporters don’t know this, but we Democrats got the chance to be butt fucked by Joe LIEberman today while we were voting for him, and I gotta tell ya….HE IS THE CHANGE OUR COUNTRY NEEDS RIGHT NOW! Holy, wow. He is the Change Meister and we are looking forward to him impeaching Barack Obama first chance, because we know Joe LIEberman loves us, our party, and wants to move forward. Moving backwards would mean….going after the Bush Admin for their High Crimes & Misdemeanors, but as Joe pointed out today while butt fucking us….IT’S NOT IMPORTANT! So again, we just wanted you all to know we love Joe more than life itself. And by the way, we listened to the American people too who are thrilled to have another republican on the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee, because these Americans are feeling the love of change!”
Howard Dean, who is the current Chair of the Democratic Party, had the following to say on a phone call to lefty bloggers today after the Democrats voted for Joe LIEberman to stay on the Senate Homeland Security committee (you’ll be astounded to find out Howard Dean didn’t do ANY INVESTIGATING of what Joe did as the Chair/Senior Member of the this committee! He knew nothing of what this man did and didn’t do!!!!!!!!!) courtesy of Jane Hamsher of FireDogLake who was one of the few who got the call (emphasis mine):
HOWARD DEAN: What I’m saying here is along comes Lieberman. He behaved very badly during the campaign and did some things inside the club that are unforgivable.
So what… if you run and get a mandate for reconciliation, is your first act to kick this guy out of the party?
Well, people of my generation think — yeah, damn right we should. But in the new spirit of reconciliation, which is why I think Barack Obama got elected by 66% of the under 35 vote, maybe it’s not the way.
I’m very willing to give the benefit of the doubt to the Senators and to Barack Obama on that one.
Do we want to have a big fight about what should happen to Joe Lieberman? I don’t think so. I think we want to have a bigfight about whether we’re going to have a decent health insurance program or a renewable energy program or not?
JANE HAMSHER: With all due respect, Governor Dean, we were all just told to go screw ourselves. That our concern for Barack Obama and that our concern about the war and everything else that we fought so hard for within the Democratic Party is meaningless.
And that Joe being happy, and giving into his threats — and he did threaten the Democrats in his press conference — is more important than we are. And so I don’t think it was a matter of “reconciliation,” I think it was…we were told to go Cheney ourselves. And I think that that really is the sentiment online.
HOWARD DEAN: I know, I’m sure they…I haven’t seen the blogs about this because it’s just happened…but I’m sure that the sentiment online is one of outrage. But I would line up with Barack. I don’t think you were told to go screw yourselves at all, I think he that has now got to practice what he preaches during two years of campaigs that he wants to bring America together.
As objectionable as Joe’s behavior was — and frankly unprincipled — I don’t think that this is the thing that should divide us, and I don’t think it’s about his vote for FISA or anything else. What kind of a tone do we want to set? Do we want to have a purge as the first thing we do? I don’t think so. I mean, I don’t know…
JANE HAMSHER: But the tone we just set, with all due respect, is that Joe’s lack of oversight on the Homeland Security Committee, and his refusing to investigate Katrina to pay back the Republicans, and his refusal to look into billions and billions of dollars worth of graft and theft is okay for political considerations. I think that’s the message you’re sending and I don’t think that’s the change people voted for.
HOWARD DEAN: Well I don’t think that stuff is okay but I have to say I’m not terribly familiar with his record. But you know I would agree, that’s not the change we voted for, I agree with that.
[]
JANE HAMSHER: Governor Dean, Greg Sargent just put up a post saying that you believe that the liberal blogosphere was motivated to take Joe Lieberman’s gavel away because of revenge. Is that what you think this was?
HOWARD DEAN: I think some of it was anger over his behavior, certainly I have anger over his behavior.
JANE HAMSHER: But I think the larger issue here is that Joe was not qualified for the gavel they gave him, and has proved himself unqualified over the past two years.
HOWARD DEAN: Look I’m not going to a dispute with you over that, because it sounds like you know his record much better than I. I never looked into what he was doing as the Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee. I was too busy figuring out how to win the election. So I don’t want to get into a debate on whether he’s qualified or not.
JANE HAMSHER: But do you think that’s something that the Senate should’ve looked at in deciding whether to give him the gavel or not?
HOWARD DEAN: Well, I hope they did.
Over the past year or so I’ve grappled with the idea of staying with the Democratic Party. One day I wanted to stay and then the next day I wanted to tell the party elites to fuck off. I then decided if I wanted to make change to my party I had to get involved, so starting late winter/early spring of this year, I joined my local county Democrats to do just that. We were very successful in electing Democrats locally, statewide and nationally. Proud we were of ourselves.
But now? I’m not feeling the love again. In fact, this week I’m going to withdraw from the Democratic Party and I am encouraging you to do the same, because if Howard Dean and Harry Reid aren’t listening to us, then how the fuck is that THE CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN? Huh? THIS IS NOT CHANGE…..THIS IS HOW THE PARTY ELDERS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN! I say…………..FUCK YOU!!!!
By withdrawing from the Democratic Party, YOU DON’T HAVE TO GIVE MONEY NOW! Woohoo! In fact, don’t ever give money to them again. I would love nothing more than to have the Democratic Elders crying in their rice pudding because the party is broke and wondering why they lost the 2010 races. Yep, Barack Obama hasn’t even been inaugruated yet and I’m already telling you fuckers to fuck off! And guess what? I’ll do the same thing to Barack Obama, who as of right now isn’t showing us any fucking change. If after he’s in office and decides to go down the path of Joe LIEberman and the republic party, then he will also be on the wrath of the liberals, progressives, REAL Democrats, and rational republicans!
And we wonder why I was a Dennis Kucinich supporter early on. Spit.

Probably allowing “backstabs to be bygones” was the most pragmatic solution to the Lieberman situation. If he had been kicked out of the Democratic caucus, he would have surely gone over to the Republicans and voted with them. At least now he will have to vote with the Democrats as they can always pull the rug out from under him at any time. We cannot always count on a few blue dog Democratic Senators to vote with the party either, so maybe holding Joe’s feet to the fire, maybe getting a “mavericky” McCain to go back to his old ways, may ensure 60 votes. Joe might be able to get McCain, even Lindsey Graham to break and vote with the Democrats.
Sometimes this party is unfathonable as in Joe Leiberman and what was not on the table and caving on FISA and a host of other issues.I can appreciate your point of view but I would temper your urge to quit the party just yet as it is only two weeks today and the real power is not untill next year and hope is no longer just a word it is a possabillity keep spiting Kay it works for you..
Hi Tango, I’m tired of the bullshit. Becoming an ‘unaffiliated’ voter won’t stop me from supporting Barack next year, but my disdain for the Democrats will linger for sure. I’ll give them 2 years to get it right and if they do, then I’ll switch back. As of right now, I’m livid and today’s rollover for Mr. Asshole Backstabber Traitor makes me furious.

I agree, the Democrats have done it again…..not had the guts to boot that Lieberman off, whatever is wrong with them!!!
Like Kay I am still with Obama, but am very disappointed with the decision.
Didnt take long for the Democrats to stab us in the back, did it…
If a Republican Senator had supported Obama, he would be an outcast..
It just goes to show there is one Washington Party, and we just choose between two members of that party. It’s really sad.
I bow to your take on this. It is noted that giving them 2yrs is more than generous, And by the way you are totaly right about Dennis Kucinich lets bring him out dust him off and get at least one article of impeachment on the table before innauguration. That would be a pardon show stopper you betcha..
David Geffen, the Hollywood mogul who supported Obama and pissed off the Clintons supports Hillary as Sec. of State and is okay with “Back stabber” Lieberman staying within the party:
“She’s smart and tough, a lot better than any of the old hacks like Holbrooke, Albright, etc.,” says David Geffen. “Barack Obama is going to run policy, and Hillary will be an effective communicator. It also takes Bill out of the game. It completely turns him into an ally — and probably a help to both of them. I think Obama is very smart to get as many smart people into the room as he can, to bring in Rahm and keep Lieberman and get Hillary into the cabinet. It brings an enormous amount of good will his way, and he’s going to need every ounce of it, given the wars and financial catastrophe America is facing. It’s getting bleaker every day. There are many, many, many more bubbles to burst.”

There is already much criticism of Obama so far bringing back the Clinton administration with Podesta, Emmanuel, Holder, Orszag, but the argument that unless he draws from the Reagan/Bush administrations, the only EXPERIENCE out there is from the Clinton administration if he wants to hit the road running. Bush brought in CHANGE with inexperienced cronies like Albert Gonzales, Harriet Miers, “Heckuvajob” Brownie, etc. which helped with his disastrous administration.
Bill is in Kuwait this week where he got a half million dollars for speaking. Last year he reaped $10.5 MILLION from international speaking engagements which would have to come to an end if Hillary is confirmed. This could be a show stopper for Hillary if Bill won’t give up his lucrative overseas speaking tours and investments.
Yet to name most of his cabinet, yet to make his first decision on his first day in office in January, already many are becoming upset with President-Elect Obama:

My opinion is that there’s no reason to leave the Democratic party, we just have to take it back from those sodden fucks like Reid and Pelosi. And for christ fuckin’ sake, we need to get rid of those goddamned blue dog assholes. The Dems are still my party and always will be, I think. We’re sorta married.
And what Kay’s article expresses is one of the reasons I love being a Dem: She’s criticizing her own party. I laugh when I hear neocon shits talk about Congress’ 22% approval rating. I tell them, yeah, that’s right — because unlike you neocon dipshits, we Dems honestly try to reel our party in when we think its not doing what it should. We criticize our Dems in Congress and if we don’t like how they’re behaving they get low approval ratings. FROM US!
When Tom DeLay was running all over the house acting like a Mafia don, strong-arming Dems and republicants alike, did you hear any of the reichwing talking heads criticizing that? Hell no! He was “the hammer” and those weakassed, sorry fuck neocunts just loved themselves some “hammer.” Even after the criminal bastard got caught redhanded, the neocunts wouldn’t criticize “the hammer,” no way! He was a crook but he was THEIR crook. Dems, being decent folk, just don’t play that way.
Not sure why everyone’s comments went into moderation today! Dammit. Sorry about that.
Gage, I am a Democrat at heart, but the Democrats, such as Harry Reid and Joe LIEBERMAN, have no heart and I am sooooooooooooo sick of them. And yes! We should be concentrating on kicking these assholes out of office once and for good. They no longer care about the people who vote for them. They can all screw. I haven’t withdrawn yet. It’s just finding the time at this point and as I said in my post…I’ve been grappling with this for the last year.
Grant, David Geffen may be right about Hillary and Rahm, but of Joe? Some over on FDL said even with Joe on the Senate Homeland Security committee, he doesn’t have a lot of power. We’ll have to see what the little weasel does. Something tells me he’s going to be a whiny ass titty baby weasel!!!!
all that emotion is going to cloud your ability to experience the true politik.
here’s time’s take on it, a good read.
Turn on that big brain and give it a read.

Yep, Kay, I’m sick of them too. but hey, we got another Dem going to Congress! Stevens has lost, point blank. So now we’re up to 58!!!! I’m hoping all this new talent is going to put the squeeze on those blue dog s.o.b.s. And that’s why I’m going to post another solicitation:
We can get number 59 in Georgia. Tim Martin is doing well against saxby “eat shit” chambliss. But chambliss has some big donors backing him and Martin has just us. We proved with the election of President-elect Barack hussein Obama that “just us” is all a candidate needs if we act in concert, soooo…
…could any of you make a donation to Martin’s campaign. ActBlue has collected some ten thousand dollars to help Martin’s campaign. VoteVets is trying to add another thousand and they’ve got about four hundred to go. Will you help? Ten bucks, five bucks, any amount will help.

Get up, stand up! Stand up for your rights!
Kay, you’re good people. Thankyou, sweetheart! And those wonderful vets thank you too.
Wonder why the Crazy Baldheads video won’t play.
Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia spoke in Houston Monday night at a banquet hosted by 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals with Judge Edith Jones introducing him. In his speech, he was evangelical in his advocacy of “originalism,” or strictly adhering to what the Constitutional authors meant more than 200 years ago. He criticized those who see the Constitution as an evolving or “living document” that adapts to the times. Didn’t the framers only have musket long guns “back in the day?” Maybe if we were strict literalists, we should not allow any modern weapons!
Scalia was scornful of the decision on Lawrence v. Texas, a Houston case in which he disagreed with the majority that struck down Texas’ anti-sodomy law, one of the last such laws in the nation. Scalia complained that foreign laws were cited in that case as precedent and says U.S. law should only be based upon domestic decisions. But isn’t our “law” based upon Hammurabi, the Magna Carta, the Ten Commandments in part???
At least we won’t get this type of justice appointed to federal courts under President Obama. If I were like Rev. Pat Robertson, I might pray that some of these assholes in the Supreme Court have fatal heart attacks, but since I am an atheist, they are safe for now.
You’re welcome Vets!
