President Obama is in the process of picking his Cabinet

President Obama! I just loooooooooooooove saying those words!

First off…

Here’s the sight myself and other Democrats of our area saw each time we walked through the doors of the Oxford County Dems since the spring of 2008…

And here’s the sign I drove past for the last month on the way to work. It’s Obama Sunshine!

Did I tell you who was at the Democrat’s office on the night of the election making phone calls and volunteering her young little heart out? The girl of my son’s dreams….Ms. Beryl! And did I tell you what happened? Oh boy. This is very embarrassing. I’ve only met her once and it was last year when she and a friend came to our house to say ‘hi’ to my son (so cute and both giggled the whole time they were here), so I hadn’t logged her face in my brain as I should have. Well, there she was coming up to me on election night asking me how the numbers were looking (I was using the OCD Vice Chair’s laptop to see what was going on) and I didn’t know it was her! I was so focused on the election results (which was too early to find out anyways) that I had no idea it was Beryl! Of course, we talked the whole night….but dammit….my brain was fried. Anyways, when my son told me when I got home late on election night that he got an email from her saying she saw me, I was so crushed. By the way…

Beryl is the next generation of Democrats in our area who will take our party forward and I am so proud of her and all the other young people who volunteered throughout the spring, summer, and fall! I met lots of great kids. On election night, the Phone Bank Manager was a 16 year old. Cool, huh? Beryl and her friends were the ones who organized the mock election at the high school election too. I said to my son, “Will you marry this girl at some point? She’s right up your mother’s alley!”. Of course, he’s at the age where you can’t say things like that and turns all red.  ;-)

Soooo….

(picture)

President Barack Obama is in the process of picking his Cabinet right now and yesterday on the tv news I heard one saying that if he can’t get who he wants before January 20, 2009, George Bush will do the picking for him. If that’s true, then good gawd, man, START PULLING EVERYONE YOU KNOW BY THE NECK TO GET THEM TO SAY ‘YES I WILL!’ TO WORK FOR YOU!

I don’t want George Bush making anymore decisions on behalf of any of us. No way!

So far, the name being kicked around for Chief of Staff is Rahm Emanuel. Honestly, I’m not thrilled with this choice, but if Barack is, then I guess I’m going to have to suck it up and complain when the time comes. What do you think of his choice of Emanuel? And what about the idea of John Kerry in as Secretary of State? I like it!

I have a feeling President Obama is going to have the most diversified, qualified, and likable Cabinet in our nation’s history. He did point out and made very clear that he does not want lobbiests anywhere near him. I like that. I’m feeling the trust, you know, the trust in the president we haven’t felt for 8 long years! Feels good.

Rahm Emanuel being chief of staff could be very valuable in getting Obama’s campaign promises through the congress, he has the connections and knowledge how to do it in the way the US congress works and he has worked with the democratic leadership there, they respect him.

Kerry would be a better Sec of State.

Chuck Hagel for Sec of Def, he wants Iraq ended, and will be acceptable to most in the USA

BTW I have heard Bobby Kennedy Jr is being considered for the Environmental position, and Caroline Kennedy for UN ambassador.

One thing which I would personally like to see is asking Bill Clinton and Colin Powell to team up and go to Israel to try to actually settle that one.

I also would like to see either John Dean or Janet Napalitano at DOJ

also NO Larry Summers or Robert Rubin at treasury, they helped create the mess at the end of the 1990’s when they allowed Greenspan ET Al to steam roll the beginnings of the housing bubble.

NO more Wall Street hit men at Treasury.

PS ask Sarah Palin to become ambassador to Zimbabwe …. that would be funny and really smart.

  3. kayinmaine says:

Oops, Secretary of STATE. Sorry about that, Clif. I just fixed the post.

For Secretary of Defense I would love to see Jim Webb.

Love the idea of a Kennedy being in his Cabinet, Clif!

Have I yelled “President Obama” yet today? No? PRESIDENT OBAMA! PRESIDENT OBAMA! PRESIDENT OBAMA! Good gawd that feels so good. ;-)

Sarah in as ambassador to Zimbabwe? Bah hahahahahahahahahaha! Hysterical. Of course, even with map in hand, she still wouldn’t know where the hell this country is!

  4. clif says:

The best part would be after she gets there, NO large budget or staff … just the state department personnel who didn’t get their first, second or third request.

  5. kayinmaine says:

By the way, the Obama Sunrise picture above, it’s also my desktop background. It looks so bee-you-tea-full too! Fills out the whole screen and is a reminder of how lucky our country and the world is. The fog has been lifted!

  6. clif says:

I mean they wouldn’t be happy and she couldn’t punish them any more then they were already punished.

  7. clif says:

PS the trolls are quick trying to tear Obama down, there is already an impeach hate site up.

  8. kayinmaine says:

Exactly Clif. Also, returning to Alaska and becoming the governor again isn’t going to be easy for her. Alaskans were not impressed with her VP performance. She’s lost 12% in her approval rating:

    http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/politics/national/stories/110508dnpolpalinfuture.1813fe2ae.html

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww, for some reason I don’t feel bad. She brought it all on herself.

  9. kayinmaine says:

Impeach President Obama already? For what? FOR HAVING A ‘BRAIN MORAN’? LOL My fear is the Democrats in the House & Senate might try to do this, because they’re just like some of the ‘liberals/progressives’ we’ve witnessed online who would rather spend their days trashing another liberal/progressive, rather than, spend their days going after a republic!

I don’t care too much for people like this, as you know Clif. Disgusts me.

I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to hearing President Obama talk to our nation for the next 4 years. I’m addicted to his giggle too so I hope he does it a lot!

  10. clif says:

The even funnier scuttlebutt is IF and that is still a big IF, the felon Stevens wins his race for senate, Stevens would get booted out of the senate …..

So with in 90 days they would have to elect his successor, and she would seize that opportunity to get into the Washington inside to keep her face up front for 2012,

But of course the comedy routine that she would create would keep the late night comedians and SNL in material for years.

  11. clif says:

Kay it is far right fringe reichwingers who HATE him because he won, it has NOTHING to do with congress but hate filled people.

  12. kayinmaine says:

I heard that, Clif. Apparently, she could resign as Governor and then the Lt. Governor would take her place and then he could appoint her to Stevens’ Senate spot. And you know what? I hope it happens because she will make an absolute fool out of herself standing on the floor of the Senate blowing gum bubbles and talking as if she’s in high school.

Someone needs to find a Tina Fey replacement at SNL quick!

  13. clif says:

She can’t be appointed because the Alaskan Senate changed the Law after the Murkowski fiasco, so they would have to have another election, which people think she could win, after all it looks like the Alaskan people voted in a convicted felon, why not a clueless TWIT?

  14. kayinmaine says:

Clif, they hate him because of his skin color. It’s really sick. It’s my hope that the reich wingers of the American Taliban Radio shows (Beck, Limbaugh, Bortz, Ingraham, Hannity etc.) start their hate filled rants about President Obama, so they’ll get their asses kicked off for good! Yep, nothing would make me happier. Let’s hope these shows are replaced with moderate voices who bring in both sides of the aisle FOR REAL DISCUSSIONS, rather than the right wing bloviating we’ve had to listen to for decades.

  15. clif says:

PS I left a long post on the last thread about the infighting in the GOP about the TWIT and her actions the last couple months.

You might think about making a post out of it.

  16. kayinmaine says:

Are you sure about that Clif? Well, if true, the misinformation is already starting on the airwaves! LOL *shaking head* It never ends.

True. Felons & clueless people is who the Alaskans worship now! What the hell is wrong with Alaska? When did it stoop so low? My Aunt & Uncle traveled to Alaska after my Uncle retired from the paper mill (where my father also worked his whole life). It took them a month (with their 5th wheel in tow) to make the trip to do some Alaskan fishing. Little did they know how screwed up the people in Alaska are! Wow. They had an awesome time, though.

  17. kayinmaine says:

Clif, I would love it if you accepted an invitation to be a guest contributor here at WNI! It would be so nice to have you back again and it might be good for Grant too, meaning, you could fish his comments out for him when they get stuck in the WNI limo air filter! LOL

  18. clif says:

Kay they voted Don Young back in as their congressman even though he is under investigation and Ted Stevens AFTER he was found guilty, me thinks their brains are frozen up there.

  19. kayinmaine says:

    By the way, Clif….

New post up about the infighting (it’s touched upon) here:

    You’ll like this one;

Voter turnout best in generations, maybe a century

The only time in the last century people came close to the 65.7 percent of the population to elect for Barack Obama was 1960 when 63.7% came out to elect John Kennedy, Reagan never inspired America like they did.

  22. kayinmaine says:

Clif, I got to figure out how to do it. It’s a little different. Once I do I will email you for you to accept!

The voter turnout was incredible this year! I so loved being a part of it. I slept well last night for the first time in 2 years. LOL Yep, I slept as if it was Christmas night, you know, you’re relieved it’s over and was successful. ;-)

Okay, going to work Clif. I’ll work on your role here tonight when I get home! I’m so excited. I miss having you post your thoughts. 8-)

  23. Uncle Fester Lurks says:

I don’t know if we really want Barack to start taking democratic senators out of the senate to fill his cabinet as it would hurt their majority which I suppose doesn’t matter at this point since they aren’t at 60 anyway.

No to John Kerry in any position. Let him remain a senator. I like Clifs idea of John Dean as head of the DOJ but also wouldn’t mind seeing Patrick Leahy there either but again then we lose a senator.

Obama has Robert Gates on his list of Defense Secretary and possibly Colin Powell too. Hagel would be alright but I doubt he would want the job after he retires. I’d love to see Robert Kennedy Jr. anywhere in his cabinet and although I don’t care for the UN and wish we’d kick it out of our country, Caroline Kennedy could be a good ambassador.

  24. Uncle Fester Lurks says:

One thing I would LOVE to see is the Democratic party strip LIEberman of his committee chairmanship, and out of the party AND removing Harry Reid as majority leader, replace him with Patrick Leahy or Russ Feingold AND replace Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the house with Dennis Kucinich…of course this is just a pipe dream for me.

  25. Uncle Fester Lurks says:

By the way, this will probably be my last day of commenting on the internet tubes for awhile as I am ending my cable/internet service on Friday due to being unemployed and the not so booming job market out there.

It’s been fun, you people rock! Keep on spreading the truth and kicking troll ass! :)

  26. clif says:

    Take care of yourself Fester.

  27. clif says:

Robert Gibbs will be WH press secretary.

Robert Gibbs, a top aide to Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) on his campaign and in his Senate office, will be named the White House press secretary, a top Democratic official said.

Gibbs was usually the senior official on Air Obama, the campaign plane. As communications director of Obama’s Senate office, Gibbs was a key strategist in Obama’s rapid move to the national stage.

  28. Chris from Maine says:

I nominate Kay for Secretary of Troll Spanking.

  29. kayinmaine says:

Billionaire Backer Of Right-Wing Causes Is Down On His Luck

I guess karma is really makin’ them pay and not just in votes.

  32. kayinmaine says:

Clif, Adelson deserves whatever is coming to him and I would love it if his karma comes in the form of him walking into his casino and the ‘S’ (for ’snake’, of course) on the “Sands” sign falls on his head.

What a scumbag this guy is and it’s not surprising he’s a Bush neocon. Only the pond scum are…

  33. clif says:

    And of course she tried to keep the clothes;

    GOP wants Palin’s clothes back

Former VP candidate kept $150K wardrobe, lawyer en route to retrieve.

  34. clif says:

I guess since the Alaska Government lead by sarah palin, raids the oil corps to hand out money to everyone in Alaska, she thought she could raid the GOP …..

  35. kayinmaine says:

Oh yes Clif, Sarah is fine with spreading the wealth around in Alaska. She doesn’t want us to think that, because quite frankly, Alaska is one of the biggest welfare states in the nation. There are hardly any jobs, most work in either the fishing and/or oil industry, and everyone gets a welfare check from the oil companies. Nice, huh? Oh, but if this was Illinois (President Obama’s state!), Sarah would be all over it!

Sarah is a liar, a deceiver, and as you pointed out, a raider of other people’s money.

(I’ve added you in as a user, Clif, but I’m just trying to figure out the next step. It’s not an ‘invite system’ as it was on the other blog)
