How interesting…John McCain is always saying he’s proud of his service and he’s proud of our soldiers, but when a retired General of the Armed Services says being shot down in war is not a qualification to be the president of the United States (if not true, then could someone please tell me why!), John McCain turns to the Swift Boat US-Soldier-Haters to defend him!
From McClatchey Washington Bureau (I added link):
Meanwhile, McCain’s campaign organized a conference call for several supporters to bash Clark and, by extension, Obama.
McCain’s supporters included retired Air Force Col. George E. “Bud” Day, a member of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. That group attempted to discredit 2004 Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry’s Vietnam War record. Its efforts spawned a verb, “Swift-boating,” which politicians use to describe smear campaigns against them.
Kerry condemned the McCain campaign’s use of Day against Obama and called on the Arizona senator to condemn Day’s participation, as McCain had condemned the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth in 2004.
McCain, for his part, brushed off Clark’s comments as unhelpful, though he implied that the general might have had Obama’s blessing.
Here’s what John McCain uses as some humor when he’s on the campaign trail: “I would remind you it doesn’t take a lot of talent to get shot down. I was able to intercept a surface-to-air missile with my own airplane”
If John McCain is so proud of his military service, then why the hell doesn’t he release his complete military records for Americans to go through? Huh? What in his time in Vietnam qualifies him to be the president of the United States? All I see is an angry old man who can’t speak a sentence without using a teleprompter. So tell me, what is it about being shot down and then becoming a POW that makes McCain the best choice to be the president of our country? Anyone know? Neocons? You know?
Oh my gawd! John McCain is dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh wait. He’s just sleeping on the job. Nevermind.
Will Johnny apologize and move away from the Swift Boaters of America? Doubt it. As we’ve witnessed on the Senate floor, John McCain hates our soldiers and our veterans, so using a US-Soldier-Hating group such as the Swift Boaters to help defend & protect his military record, well, it just speaks volumes as to who John McCain is today: HE’S GEORGE W. BUSH. Spit.
Oh, and by the way, because the right wingers are tying Barack Obama to Wesley Clark (he was a Hillary Clinton supporter), then we can tie John McCain to ALL the Swift Boat US-Soldier-Hating-Morons to McCain, okay? Okay. Thanks. If you don’t like it, no one cares.

McCain is a really smart man.
http://thebruceblog.wordpress.com/2008/06/30/mccain-is-aware-of-the-internet-never-been-there-but-hes-got-some-awareness/
Thanks for the link to your post, Bruce. LMAO! Well hey, McTeleprompter is aware of a lot of things, but does he know how to do any of them? Nope! I bet he’s aware of the presidency too.
Bah hahahahaha! I just went to add another McCain comment to the top of the front page of my blog and got this message from the Wordpress guys (Matt is one of the well-known programmers at Wordpress) in a window:
Goshdarnit!
Something has gone wrong with our servers. It’s probably Matt’s fault.
We’ve just been notified of the problem.
Hopefully this should be fixed ASAP, so kindly reload in a minute and things should be back to normal.
Hysterical.
Considering that McShame was himself swiftboated by the rabid campaign staff of gw a few years back, I’d think McShame would be somewhat inclined to bring out his straight talk express and run them buzzards down. Maybe his flip-flopping has caused the tires of that once-proud machine to go flat. Dude needs to get his spine back.
If John McCain doesn’t wish to have anyone comment on his “heroic” service to our nation, then HE needs not to make it a part of his campaign, to make himself look like the super patriot, the only one to save our nation from the bad “tearists”! McCain’s Annapolis record, service record, can’t hold a candle to General Wesley Clark’s background as Number ONE at West Point (compared to McCain’s rank of 894 out of 899 at Annapolis). Clark was selected as a Rhodes Scholar, an honor that only goes to a few dozen U.S. college graduates every year (Bill Clinton, Rachel Maddow are Rhodes Scholars).
Clark was also injured badly in Vietnam. In February, 1970, only one month into his command, Wesley Clark was shot four times by a Viet Cong soldier with an AK-47. However, the wounded Clark remained in command and shouted orders to his men, who counterattacked and defeated the Viet Cong force. Clark had injuries to his right shoulder, right hand, right hip, and right leg, and was sent to Valley Forge Army Hospital in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania to recuperate. He was awarded the Silver Star for his actions during the encounter.
Tucker Carlson, a chickenhawk, is now dissing Gen. Wesley Clark on the Abram’s “Verdict” show on MSNBC.
Right now the score for a RATIONAL, WELL-PLANNED OUT, & PATRIOTIC CAMPAIGN is…
Barack Obama 3,268
John McCain 0
Grant, basically the right wingers are saying to America, “The only soldiers we like are the ones who like us”. That’s it. Their irrational behavior can’t be explained any other way. They basically hate all soldiers unless they’re getting a blowjob and a, “I love you McCain! Thanks for letting me use House #4 for the weekend a few weeks back!”. See?
Sauerkraut, without flip flops Americans would think Johnny McTeleprompter is dead and needs the flip flops to show some kind of movement. LOL
Chickenhawk Fucker Carlson is defending the Swift Boat Vets as saying they had credibility in their charges against John Kerry. Looks like McCain is now going to use Swiftboaters to go after Wes Clark and anyone else who is an Obama surrogate.
That’s okay, Grant. McTeleprompter will have to start taking questions about his service now if that’s the route he wants to go down. I hope he has to pee in a cup too at some point! LOL
Okay, going to bed.
The biggest joke of the day was Bush while signing the GI Bill of Rights today taking credit for it as well as did John McCain when both were fighting against it!
John Aravosis of AmericaBlog gets questioned by Politico.com (which leans right) for questioning John McCain’s service. Aravosis has written, “A lot of people don’t know … that McCain made a propaganda video for the enemy while he was in captivity,” wrote Americablog.com’s John Aravosis. “Putting that bit of disloyalty aside, what exactly is McCain’s military experience that prepares him for being commander in chief?”
“Getting shot down, tortured and then doing propaganda for the enemy is not command experience,” Aravosis wrote in the blog post, titled “Honestly, besides being tortured, what did McCain do to excel in the military?”
Ben Smith of Politico.com takes a deeper look at the left’s growing willingness to question McCain’s hero status. “The highest voltage third rail of this presidential campaign may not be race, sex, or age, but Senator John McCain’s military service,” Smith writes. Obama himself, Smith notes, “has consistently praised McCain’s service, and called him “a genuine American hero. But farther to the left—and among some of McCain’s conservative enemies as well—harsher attacks are circulating. Critics have accused McCain of war crimes for bombing targets in Hanoi in the 1960s. Sunday, a widely read liberal blog accused McCain of ‘disloyalty’ during his captivity in Vietnam for his coerced participation in propaganda films and interviews after he’d been tortured.”

Aravosis also gets mentioned elsewhere. Such charges about McCain having a “break down” while a prisoner and talking to the enemy have been leveled here previously at WNI by a few of us.

Retired Col. Bud Day, who was held prisoner with McCain in Vietnam, said the attacks on McCain were nothing like the “swift boat attacks.” He helped produce those attacks against Kerry, which were true, he said. The attacks against McCain are not, he added.
Day said, “The ’swift boat’, quote, attacks were simply a revelation of the truth. The similarity does not exist here because basically what the Swift Boat campaign was about was to lay out John Kerry’s record.”

Listen, I don’t care if McSame sang like a bird in the Hanoi Hilton. Torture me and I’ll sing any tune you wanna hear. And tap dance too! And I don’t give a hoot whether he was a good pilot or not. In fact, I don’t care what he did in the service at all when he was in that shithole, Vietnam. Personally, I made a point of staying out of Vietnam, so anybody who did go there, more power to them as far as I’m concerned. I’d be pissed off about anyone on our side swiftboating McClone. I thought it was lower than dirt when they did it to Kerry and I’d think it would be lower than dirt to do it to McSame. But he HASN’T been swiftboated by ANYONE in this campaign. Gen. Clark’s statements about McSame didn’t diminish his service AT ALL! Yet, I distinctly remember when Clark himself was running for president some of the same people who are complaining about how horrible Clark is for what he said about McSame did everything they could to diminish Clark’s service, then. And just today, rush limbo said of Clark that had it not been for Bill Clinton, Clark would never have become a three star general. There’s that, and there’s the fact, (like Sauerkraut mentions above), that the only ones who ever HAVE swiftboated McSame were kkkarl rove and his gang of thugs on behalf of george w. bush. McSame seemed to like it. He kissed the king’s ring and begged his majesty’s indulgence, didn’t he?
