I don’t like the false hope being put out there that if we screw up Earth, we can always start over again on Mars. Even the most primitive colonization is still years away and will be most expensive. Of course, the fundies believe that the “rapture” will come soon (some like the Rev. Jack Van Impe hyping the PAGAN Mayan calendar stating it will be 2012). Therefore, as did Reagan’s Sec. of Interior James Watt stated, we don’t need to be concerned about saving our planet since the “good folk” will soon be outta here, anyway.

I’m still having a hard time with all these “discoveries”. Seems too quick to me. And yes Gage! Bush needs some kind of legacy that is positive, so finding “life/ice/garden crops/” on Mars could be it!

Grant, what I don’t get is if Mars is so cold then why did the “ice” melt a few days later? Just seems weird to me. I’m one that has to be given lots of info before I make my decision.

A human colony there would need heated “greenhouses” since the AVERAGE recorded surface temperature on Mars is -81°F (-63°C) with a maximum temperature of 68°F (20°C) and a minimum of -220°F (-140°C). That maximum is at the “equator” and without an atmosphere, it gets most cold after the sun sets.

If others watched, they know that Mr. Delahunt wasn’t supposed to be allowed to question [not a committee member] and this was objected to by the member from Iowa [GOP Congressman, although the lizard's name eludes me].

Addington; did anyone notice he mimics Cheney’s mannerisms, that he gesticulates in exactly the same way? It was creepy and that guy is one callous tool! I am using gesticulate to indicate how much he was actually saying with his body language, etc. then his actual verbiage.

The distinguished professor John Yoo is FRAKN hopeless and intellectually speaking, a comedy of errors. I think it was awesome that it looks like the seeds for going after Yoo were planted last night by the Duke law professor who was on Yoo’s left, Mr. Schroeder I believe? He was occasionally being included into a discussion by way of rejoinder, or simply questioned. Yes so, the very loose argument. It was basically presented in the form of a question; Is his torture memo a form of malpractice, i.e. can he be disbarred for it ? That is a tad oversimplified, but basically that is the gist I got from the exchange.
