On Monday of this week, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd told his Parliament that his predecessor, John Howard, had abused intelligence to lead his country into a war that has only served to increase globalterrorism.

Yesterday, in response to widespread opposition to the war in Iraq throughout their country, Canada’s House of Commons passed a non-binding resolution calling on their government to stop the deportation of U.S. Iraq war resisters who came to Canada seeking refuge from participating in a war that they saw as illegal and immoral – those “who have refused or left military service related to a war not sanctioned by the United Nations.”

No LIE can stand forever. As the support for this war falls away around the world, we come closer and closer to the day when our troops will be brought home. We cannot afford a President McCain.

Went to the beach in Seaside, Oregon where it was only 54° and mostly deserted. Now to put away winter clothes and get my shorts and sandals back out! That part of the nation is beautiful (if one can see it through the clouds and drizzle). I did see Mt. St. Helen on a rare sunny day. Bald eagles were plentiful in Alaska and one native noted they are the “pigeons of Alaska”. I visited the Raptor Center in Sitka where they help injured birds heal that have had collisions with motor vehicles or utility wires. I saw many humpback whales in Auke Bay in Juneau, but rain canceled my helicopter trip up to the glaciers so I never got to make a snowball. I did enjoy a floatplane trip up Misty Fjord just south of Ketchikan.

I noticed only Obama and Ron Paul signs all over and not one for Clinton or McCain! So I was definitely in liberal/libertarian country. Ron Paul is still running and plans to spoil McCain’s “party” in St. Paul this summer!

We need to keep up the pressure on her, because if we don’t, then we can blame ourselves. Honestly, I’m not about to get on my knees and beat my back with a whip until it bleeds. I don’t blame myself. I blame the republics and Democrats who continue to cover up for and protect. They’ll have to explain why they did years from now if nothing comes of this week. I won’t have to. I will have plenty to say when the time comes.

Constitutional Law Professor David Adler says, “No executive in the history of the Anglo-American world since the Civil War in England in the 17th century has laid claim to such broad power. George Bush has exceeded the claims of Oliver Cromwell who anointed himself Lord Protector of England.”

Adler said the authors of the U.S. Constitution wrote that the president “shall take care to faithfully execute the laws of the land” because “the king of England possessed a suspending power” to set aside laws with which he disagreed, “the very same kind of power that the Bush Administration has claimed.”

“I think that in retrospect I could have used a different tone, a different rhetoric,” Bush told the Times of London.

“One of the untold stories of Iraq is that we explored the diplomacy a lot,” he said. “We all wanted to solve this ‘disclose, disarm, or face serious consequences’ in a diplomatic fashion. After all, I went to the United Nations security council.”

And he LIED to the UN too! He lives in a world of disillusion and mendacity.

Um…first of all the American people can deal with a “distraction” this important. Second of all, it’s their job as the legislation branch of government to go after the executive branch when there is an abuse of power or criminal actions committed. Thirdly, nothing is getting done anyway because once a bill gets passed in congress it will be filabustered or obstructed in the senate by the cockroaches on the republican side. Not doing anything creates a dangerous precedent for future presidents. We know damn well that if Bush were a democrat, the republicans would have tried to impeach him a long time ago.
