It sure seems that way! Oh, this is good.
First off, it appears that Sen. Susan Collins’ Senior Chief of Staff, Steve Abbott, is working for her campaign out of her DC office. FireDogLake has more on this….(CLICK HERE). In essence, the American people are paying Steve Abbott’s salary as Chief of Staff and we’re also paying him to work on her campaign. Is this unethical? If so, then it’s very possible that ole Joe Lieberman (or even Karl Rove) is giving her some pointers on how to fake out dumbass Mainers and the American people and how to run an unethical campaign when you have nothing else to go on!
It’s such bullshit that I could scream until my larynx falls out.
Secondly, who on her staff is editing her Wikipedia site to make her look like a “moderate” when we know after watching her votes over the past seven years….she’s no moderate, but she sure is a jackboot licking Bush supporter which is as far right as you can get!
(CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE WIKIPEDIA ENTRY)
“Chris from Maine” of My Two Sense did some research on the IP numbers and guess what? Whoopsie! Seems like someone in DC is doing the editing! Is it Steve Abbott or some poor schmuck at the Postal Museum down there who is being told to edit it?
The Postal Museum is down the street from Suzie-Q’s office too. Oh boy.
From My Two Sense:
It turns out that change came from the IP address 156.33.37.102, which when you look it up turns out to be from the 6th floor of the National Postal Museum oddly enough. However the server name is “senate.gov”.

So it appears that a Susan Collins staffer (or supporter) logged on to a computer at the National Postal Museum, using their Senate.gov account, and edited the Wikipedia entry of Susan Collins. Very interesting….
So, what’s going on Susan? Are you this desperate to be using your staff to participate in unethical behavior? What else are you doing behind the backs of Mainers to get yourself elected? How come you’re not talking about your voting record, but are instead, going after liberals while having your staff edit your Wikipedia entries to make yourself look like a “moderate”? Can’t you use your voting record to do that?
*laughing my ass off*
I forgot, Susan. Your voting record is atrocious and almost completely aligned with what Georgie Bush and Joe Lieberman want! Oh that’s right. That’s embarrassing for you to talk about. It’s much easier to use the white noise of propaganda to fake out the masses to make yourself feel better, so you can wipe the sweat off your brow and say, “Phew!”.

it is definately a big deal. i dont know what the deal is, but hopefully someone will figure out why someone was editing the susan collins entry from the national postal museum.
if its a museum worker (or curator or whatever) who likes susan collins, thats fine, but why does it say “senate.gov” on the IP address???
someone needs to do some digging.
FireDogLake also wants to know if this is an ethics violation too:
http://www.firedoglake.com/2007/08/16/abbott-faces/
I think it is. I’ll ask Lance on his blog (again!).
First, It is not unethical to have someone on staff work for the campaign. Senate Ethic rules explicitly allow the each Senator to designate three people from their staff to work on the campaign (see for yourself: http://rules.senate.gov/senaterules/rule41.php ). So see Harry Reid if you want that rule changed.
Second, there is no mystery behind a computer in Postal Square having a senate.gov IP address. The web server for the entire Senate is housed in Postal Square, so of course anyone who connects to the web from the Senate will have their address reported in ICANN as Postal Square even though they physically sit in a Senate Office. To verify the truth of this, perform a lookup of your own IP address. It will be registered to your Internet service, not your physical address.
In sum, no conspiracy or unethical behavior is afoot – just some paranoid liberals who want desperately for something to be wrong with Senator Collins. Your real problem is that there is nothing right about Allen.
