What will Karl Rove do with his carrot when he’s subpoenaed?

Looks like Patrick Leahy has found an extra spine! Not only is he going to subpoena Karl Rove to testify in front of the House Judiciary Committee on his role in the US Attorney firings, he’s also going to be hiring a Special Prosecutor to investigate Gonzo lying to everybody every time he opened his mouth in the last few months!

I bet Karl Rove’s carrot just fell off and broke into pieces.

Loving it:

July 26 (Bloomberg) — Senate Democrats sought a special prosecutor to investigate whether Attorney General Alberto Gonzales lied to lawmakers and they subpoenaed President George W. Bush’s top political aide, Karl Rove, to testify about the firing of U.S. attorneys.
>
Charges by four Democratic senators that Gonzales repeatedly lied under oath, plus the latest subpoena, raised the stakes in the congressional fight with Bush over his refusal to allow aides to testify about the firing of nine prosecutors last year.
>
The new allegations against Gonzales came two days after the attorney general appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he faced expressions of incredulity and disdain from senators in both parties about his answers to questions on Bush’s surveillance of suspected terrorists.

Oh yes, and I love this too:

The subpoenas today for Rove and J. Scott Jennings, the deputy White House political director, are part of the congressional investigation into whether the White House orchestrated the dismissals for improper political purposes such as to spur investigations of Democrats.
>
Bush has asserted executive privilege to bar his aides from testifying about the dismissals. A House panel also investigating the firings cited Bush’s chief of staff, Joshua Bolten, and former White House counsel Harriet Miers for contempt of Congress for their refusal to cooperate.
>
“I would hope the White House would stop the stonewalling,” Senator Patrick Leahy, the Vermont Democrat who chairs the Judiciary Committee, said in a floor speech announcing the subpoenas. “There is a cloud over this White House and a gathering storm.”

Well, I suppose if Rove & Gonzo get desperate and need to know the outcome of their future, they can always bring THIS CAT in to see what will happen.

You want to know what will happen with Rove receiving a subpoena? Absolutely nothing.

And this will send all you whiney, crying, double-standard, hypocritical Liberals into another angst and hate-America fueled rant. It’s funny when Liberals whine – face it!

Say, by the way – why didn’t you blog last week about the anniversay of Ted Kennedy killing Mary Jo Kopechne? Oh, I suppose that wouldn’t have looked good for a Lib to remember that date. But I’m sure you would have noted it had the same crime been committed by a Conservative or Repub.

    Got Hypocrisy??

You want to know what will happen come November ‘08?

    Oh Lordy!

  6. Bill Jonke says:

I’ve come to the conclusion that Republicans nowadays have too much time on their hands.

    1. They harp continuously about decades old scandals, blaming the left for everything that’s bad that happens to them. This is an accurate indicator that they obviously have no more legs to stand on.

    2. Clinton is always to blame for anything from not supposrting the troops all the way back, and then some, the Teapot Dome Scandal.

    3. They wax overconfidence about everything they touch, and they announce their stupidity proudly, loudly and often.

    4. They have the annoying capacity to repeat themselves, not unlike senility, about the consequences if we leave Iraq, and it would seem that they have some sort of convoluted and preposterous actuarial table of cause and effect they draw back on.

    5. They’re firm believers that it is their right to sexual dalliance, and practice that philosophy, gay or straight, every single time they can.

    6. They always seem to take an inordinate amout of time covering up for their lies. What they don’t realize is that it takes more of an effort to lie than it does when telling the truth.

    Any arguments?

  7. kayinmaine says:

Wow David. Got your nylons all twisted up around your crotch area tonight I see. LOL

And why will nothing happen to Rove in the end? Oh that’s right. Obstruction & protection by Bush, the neocons in the House & Senate, and by those Bush has appointed in key places. See? ONLY CRIMINALS COVER THEIR TRACKS LIKE THIS

  8. kayinmaine says:

Bill, no argument with me at all. :-)

    RE: comments #6 & #7:

Well, the Conservatives learned much from the Clinton Crime Family and the 40+ years (until ‘94) that the Dems held the majority in Congress and are pulling the same tricks as the DemocRATS. Now the Libs whine about the same tactics being applied to them. Too bad; not sad.

Mr. Jonke, I hope you apply the same standard to those you politically agree and identify with as those you disagree with, because every item you listed can be applied to the Dems in spades.

“I did not have sexual relation, not ever, with that woman.”

Sexual dalliances? HA! Clinton, Jim McGreevey, Barney Frank, Gerry Studds, Mel Reynolds, Gavin Newsom, Ted Kennedy. And yes, plenty of Conservatives can’t keep their pants zipped up either.

I am glad to see that you admit there were indeed “past scandals” in the Clinton White House.

Kay – no one obstructed like Bubba, Al and Mr. Reno. You know that – you just can’t and won’t admit it because it won’t fit with your rhetoric of hatred displayed to anyone who doesn’t agree with you. Joe Lieberman? Zell Miller? I thought you switched to Independent status a while back? No? Independent but still a Marxist at heart, huh?

  10. kayinmaine says:

What about the Reagan & Bush Sr crime families during the 1980’s, David?

  11. kayinmaine says:

How many death squads & drug dealing/money laundering was done by their administration back there in the 1980’s, David? And don’t you find it weird that there are death squads popping up all over Iraq & Afghanistan and Afghanistan’s poppy crop is the largest on the planet? And what about the $43 million dollars Bush gave the TALIBAN in 2001 before 9/11? What was that for? He said it was to feed the kiddies and to get the Taliban to stop making drugs? Uh huh.

How come Reagan & Bush Sr. during the 1980’s were so criminal and do you think they trained Baby Bush on everything they knew?

  12. Bill Jonke says:

Well, at least Bill Clinton was a good president, and he certainly did the best he could with the deviant hand he was dealt with, to wit, the Republican controlled House and Senate.

Bush can’t even do a scandal of his own right!

Not only that, it’s more likely that stupidity will win out with the GOP, but couple that with numerous scandals to begin with, most people with common sense will realize that the GOP made its own bed, and now they have to lie with it.

Kerplunk! That’s the way the Republican dog and pony show bounces. Say good bye all you goopers to anything resembling job security come November 2008.

  13. Bill Jonke says:

Oh, and by the way, Barney Frank wasn’t caught engaging in sexual activity other than in his private life, David, and that is no sin, nor is it a sin to out onesself voluntarily. He also took action to eliminate the problem that existed with his partner at the time.

You are obviously prejudiced and jumping to conclusions. HAH! Republicans ALWAYS have someone to blame, and that someone is usually a Democrat or an Independent.

  14. Lee says:

David — Kay’s warped thinking comes from her being abused as a child by her teachers. They would make her clean the boys room after school every day.

  15. nytexan says:

This may turn out to be a very good summer.

I saw cat kevorkian on Keith tonight, I don’t want him to visiting me; but I’ll take for a visit with Rove and the gang.

  16. kip152 says:

Dave, I think there’s a bit of a difference between having an extramarital dalliance and lying your way into a war just to get oil revenues.

  17. Slim Whitman says:

    Kay,

You asked what Karl Rove will do when he gets a subpoena. I hope to see him tell the “progressives” to shove it. Lefties have this desperate need to skewer Cheney and Rove, which flatters them, though you may not know it. Neither of them care about the endless “progressive” calls for their heads. You’re a bunch of magpies chirping. I’m sure they get a big laugh out of it, as I do.

Kip — you’re parroting a tired socialist slogan about lying to get us into Iraq. Here’s the destruction of your weak little argument. Ready? Okay. If Bush lied about the pretext, why would he not also lie about finding WMD? One lie is much, much easier to pull off than the other. Can you guess which one is easier?

Let’s review: one lie involves convincing the U.S. senate, 151 million Americans (51%), and the 39 other heads of state for the nations that joined us in the coalition, including the prime ministers of Australia, Great Britain, Japan, Italy, and Spain. The other lie involves throwing some aluminum tubes into a cave and taking a picture.

If that doesn’t sink into your thick skull, perhaps this will: Where is all the damned oil? Where is it? If Bush got us into Iraq for oil, why isn’t there a steady stream of double-hulled supertankers stretching from Basra to New Orleans? One should be able to walk from N.O. to Basra on all the tankers. Where are they?

  18. Slim Whitman says:

The chubby leftist running this site makes me laugh between fits of vomiting.

  19. kayinmaine says:

So Slim, you see this White House as having acted white, just, and pure for the past seven years? If so, this explains why the republican party is tanking.

And by the way, call me a Socialist anytime….just don’t ever call me a fascist which is what you and your Oil Maggots are, okay?

FISA Law….broken repeatedly by Your Master.

  20. kayinmaine says:

America has not recovered from the Reagan/Bush Sr. years. It was downhill from there…thanks to the republicans.

  21. democommie says:

    Kayinmaine:

During the Clinton years, all eight of them, the reptilicans, spent countless hours and lots of taxpayer dollars on investigating non-crimes. Now that Bushco is engaged in behavior which would have any reasonable RICO prosecutor issuing indictments, the reichwing bleats about it.

BTW is Lee recruiting some of his pals or just using different disguises for his comments. They are uniformly stupid, so I just assume they’re his.

Let’s talk about anniversaries. How about when Nixon left the WH for San Clemente? Or, maybe the anniversary of the El Salvador massacere of the nuns and priests? What about the day when the Gipper said, “I don’t recall.”? Perhaps we should send a bouquet to the parents of the Laura Bush’s former boyfriend; the one she “accidentally” killed when she rammed his car? Or the day when Jr. decided to go AWOL? I’m sure there’s a few other “special” days to commemorate, in honor of the reptilican’s achievements.

  22. kayinmaine says:

Democommie, the neocons forget how their party acted during Clinton’s tenure, which is funny, because the neocons have selective memory on everything and they cherry pick what they want from the past and they conveniently forget that Reagan & Bush Sr. had done worse than any president until Baby Bush came along! Funny how they never talk about the atrocities committed by them when they were in reign. Funny how they refuse to see what George W. Bush and his Band of lying, warmongering, Oil Maggots have done over the past seven years too. Honestly…it’s really not funny. I’m tired of it.

George Bush & Dick Cheney are destroying our country from within. They will be to blame when the time comes and their reich wing jackboot clicking red armband wearing Nazi neocons will rejoice when America is destroyed. Why? They hate America…plain and simple.
