Speaking of holidays….the House, Senate, the Iraqi government (hey, they don’t want to sign the oil contracts for the US oil companies…meanwhile….our soldiers & their people die) and George Bush will be on holiday for the month of August (recess appointments for the downward spiral while our soldier’s die for rights that George Bush doesn’t give them!). Sound good? Not really considering our soldiers will be stuck in Iraq during this time. Yep. Hey, no holidays for the cannon fodder. Fuck them, huh American government? Assholes….all of ya.

Wow, what a day. First the Democrats decide to introduce a resolution to impeach Alberto Gonzales, then we find out that Chief Justice John Roberts suffered a seizure and banged his head, and now we’re finding out that Sen. Ted Stevens’ house is being raided (and apparently CNN reported that he had been arrested!)!
…after falling at his summer residence here in Maine. I SWEAR I DIDN’T PUSH HIM DOWN THE STAIRS. Though, I’ve thought of doing that lots of times with the guy on the right in the following picture:
As much as I don’t agree with him on the issues, let’s hope for a speedy recovery. He apparently suffered a seizure years ago. Maybe this time it was a stroke? Don’t know. Karma? *slapping face*
Let’s hope Chief Roberts didn’t have wait hours at the hospital to be seen like the rest of us have to.

Mainers have told Sen. Susan Collins over and over that we don’t like the idea of the Real ID Act and even our state government feels the same way. Does she listen to any of us? Nope! A state official and civil liberties advocates Wednesday criticized Sen. Susan Collins for backing a proposal to help fund controversial changes to state driver’s licenses.

“Her home state of Maine has rejected it loud and clear,” said Shenna Bellows, executive director of the Maine Civil Liberties Union.

Okay, Collins admits that the 9/11 hijackers were able to use LEGALLY-ISSUED DRIVER’S LICENSES, but for some reason, she thinks a legally-issued Real ID with the Orwellian title is going to make a world of difference! Oh yeah Susan, future hijackers or others who want to hurt our country (could be white skinned boys from down south for all we know Susan) are gonna say, “Nooooooooooooo, it’s the Real ID! Help us! We can’t crack the system! It’s fool proof! These IDs all look the same! They’re scaring us into not hurting Americans!”.

I think Susan is just looking for ways to protect George Bush and his incompetent regime, because if you think about it, it didn’t matter if the 9/11 hijackers had a legal ID or if future hijackers have a fake ID. If they want to attack us, they’ll find a way, well that is, if we have a government that is working in perfect order. Right, George & Susan?

Of course, if George Bush and his band of thugs had actually heeded the warnings that were coming across their desks prior to 9/11 telling them that a huge attack was on the way, things would have been different. Can you imagine if the FBI or the Dept. of Homeland Security had announced during the summer for Americans to be on the look out of Arab looking men on airplanes? We all know John Ashcroft stopped flying commercially by the summer of 2001, so why didn’t they say something or Ashcroft himself? Americans are pretty savvy people and they would have been on the lookout for sure.

It would have been nice if Michael Hayden had said something to the American people on September 10, 2001 when he heard two of the hijackers he was spying on via telephone saying, “the match begins tomorrow”. Maybe you could have pushed for more Arabic interpretors, Susan? Ever think of that?

It was the first time Iraq had ever won the Asian Cup soccer title. What is sad to me is these young men will come home again to their country in shambles. They’ll come home to 4 hours of electricity a day. I’m sure the Iraqi soccer team is a bright spot in the daily lives of the Iraqi people and I’m also sure it’s the only time they feel a sense of belonging and a connection to what their country was prior to George Bush and his Band of Oil Maggot Thieves invading & occupying it.
