Will Tommy Thompson make it to the 2008 presidential race?

Off topic but important: (THE FBI RAIDS THE VIRGINIA HOME OF US REP. DOOLITTLE, R-CA TODAY) Just another reich wing corrupted fascist. Speaking of that…
Tommy Thompson, who announced his candidacy for the presidential run in 2008 and who wants people to focus on his acting career rather than his political past because it’s full of dinosaur skeletons and dirty laundry, might already be dead in the water before he even started.
From JS Online:
If Tommy Thompson’s presidential run isn’t over, it should be.
>
And this has nothing to do with his relatively light campaign chest. His remarks about Jewish people and tradition Monday revealed him simply to be ill-suited to the presidency.
>
Speaking to the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism in Washington, D.C., Thompson said, “I’m in the private sector, and for the first time in my life I’m earning money. You know, that’s sort of part of the Jewish tradition, and I do not find anything wrong with that.”
>
He later made a feeble attempt to explain the inexplicable. “I just want to clarify something because I didn’t (by) any means want to infer or imply anything about Jews and finances and things,” he said. “What I was referring to, ladies and gentlemen, is the accomplishments of the Jewish religion. You’ve been outstanding business people, and I compliment you for that.”
>
So an accomplishment of the Jewish religion is business acumen? Surely, a presidential candidate who would represent all Americans would know how hurtful stereotypes are. Surely, such a candidate would know, given this country’s experience with anti-Semitism, that Jews as fixated on money ranks up there among the most hurtful of them.

His remarks are yet another reminder that the most grievous wounds in politics are often self-inflicted. Thompson’s run for the presidency was always a long shot. It is now even longer. Deservedly so.
Funny that these statements would the nail in the coffin for him, because when you look at his past in the political arena, he:
Wants Radio Frequency Identification Chips embedded in people’s bodies!
That right there should be why Thompson should not make it to the 2008 election day.

Yep, that explains the mentality and the loyalty of the jackboot licking republicans, Chris!
Get some rest Chris. Take a break and then come back fresh at a later time.

I just came over to post the offtopic fact that John Doolittle (R – atbastard, CA) had his house raided, only 48 hours after a key aid agreed to a deal with the prosecutors investigating Doolittle’s connections to Jack “me” Abramoff. But you’re already on that. You’re one classy lady Kay – Yaletown all the way.

To be fair, making money is a part of our tradition. As are giant global conspiracies. This guy should join forces with McCain and his “count-the-Jews” advisor. Heck, why not just run on a “They killed our lord” platform?
Sigh.
Another good catch Kay and Chris (that does say alot).

sad but true, the FBI raided doolittle’s (what an appropriate name for a re-pubie) happened last Friday, but of coyurse the MSM couldn’t find that fact to report like they did Jefferson’s House Raid.
Can we say double standard.

Very good point Clif about Doolittle’s home being raided last Friday. Weren’t the cameras there when Jefferson’s office was being raided? Yep! Spit.

“…focus on his acting career”? That’s Fred Thompson. Tommy was HHS Secretary, and up to his neck in cronyism before and after. Made some of his good buds real rich with Medicare “reform”. Now they’re returning the favor.
