Margaret Chase Smith, who was the late great Senator of Maine, once said this about the republican party of which she was a part of:

“The Republican party has been taken over by the Four Horsemen of Calumny: fear, ignorance, bigotry, and smear”

Interesting, Margaret Chase Smith could see years ago that her political party had changed and she wasn’t afraid to say it out loud. She saw the danger of being on the outer fringe rather than in the center where rationality and common sense live. Margaret Chase Smith had courage to speak truth to power and didn’t care what the consequences of it were. She spoke with her true Maine voice. Fast forward to today and we have Sen. Susan Collins who is afraid of the people in the Bush White House, you know…the people of her own political party, because fear controls her every move when it’s time to vote on the important issues of our times. She can’t bring herself to vote against the Bush Regime’s wishes and because of that…she’s not a moderate and SEN. SUSAN COLLINS IS NO MARGARET CHASE SMITH.

Ole “moderate Maine Senator” Susan Collins has decided to squash the voice of Maine people and of the nation about the Iraq war by voting to keep it going! How shameful, pathetic, and disgraceful of you Susan to vote to keep the illegal occupation of Iraq going knowing full well the occupation is a failure and knowing the people of Maine don’t support this occupation nor does the nation. Instead of taking the high road to change course in Iraq for the betterment of Iraq and our soldiers, you decide to vote against a Joint Resolution that would have enforced a phased withdrawal (with consequences to the main players in this game along the way) and would have made sure our soldiers were taken care of during the process and then brought home! You voted with the Bush Regime again Susan! [Why did you do that? What on Earth are thinking when you vote like this? Why is it you don't have the courage to be an instrument of positive change in a failed occupation of a nation that did not attack us on 9/11 and why is it you don't have the courage to go against those that have been wrong on everything for the past four years in Iraq? Huh?]

Sen. Susan Collins could care less about what the majority of the people of Maine think about Iraq. Oh yes, there are some people here in our state who love the Iraq war and who think everything is going wonderfully well in Iraq and are in lock step with Susan. They chant this together:

War is peace,

Freedom is slavery,

Ignorance is strength.

Well, guess what Susan? I don’t believe that Orwellian hogwash coming out of the White House nor do I believe the Iraq occupation is pure, white, just, and good. In fact Susan, I think the whole thing stinks and sucks eggs and the fact that you keep voting to keep it going is PROOF that your jackboot licking Bush-supporting ways are not over and they never will be. Why do I think this Susan? Because you believe the Bush Regime when they tell you that the Iraq occupation is making everything peaceful, that slavery is much better than having free people, and that by keeping Mainers and the nation ignorant about Iraq and about the true costs this failed occupation is having on all of us, you truly believe all of it is making us stronger!

We’re tired of you Susan. Stop voting to keep this effing illegal occupation of a sovereign nation going Susan…and please, oh please….stop walking behind the members of the White House in formation and clicking your jackboots together, okay? It’s not lady-like. Oh, and don’t come crying to the people of Maine when Tom Allen kicks your butt out of office in 2008. If you’re surprised when you are, it will be our final proof that you have not listened to the people of Maine…evah.

    There are ethnic characteristics established in Susan Collin’s face that are troubling; what is in a name? I notice that her biography is carefully controlled, and no details anywhere about her parents or grandparents with google. Is she hiding something; just thinking out of the box?

    Christopher, she died years ago, but she is famed as one of Maine’s greatest Senators because she had a ton of common sense and stood firm for what she believed in….and she listened to Mainers. We haven’t seen her type in a long time. Even Olympia Snowe in the past six to seven years has become a party loyalist in many areas in addition to Susan Collins. We’re tired of them both.

    59. The head of the Christian Coalition of Oregon, Lou Beres, “readily admitted sexually touching” the plaintiff in the lawsuit when she was 13 or 14 years old, according to the report. He also acknowledged sexually touching a 16 or 17-year-old friend of his daughter in 1976 or 1977. Beres denied allegations of sexual molestation when they first came to light in The Oregonian last October. Gresham police last fall investigated allegations Beres had molested underage family members, but Multnomah County District Attorney Michael Shrunk said the allegations occurred so long ago that Beres couldn’t face charges under the statute of limitations. In March, Beres, 70, was sued in Multnomah County Circuit Court for $2.1 million by a relative who said he molested her repeatedly between 1963 and 1966.

On September 28, 2006, ABC News reported that in 2005 Foley had sent email messages, from his personal AOL account, to a then-16-year-old former Congressional page, asking the page to send a photo of himself to Foley, among other things. Foley submitted a letter of resignation from Congress on September 29, 2006 in the wake of news reports about the communications. Dana Rohrabacher and a close associate of Orange County GOP chairman Scott Baugh, has been charged by Orange County, California police with repeatedly engaging in sex with a 14-year old Westminster, California high school freshman male in 2003 and amassing a large amount of child pornography in his Ladera Ranch condo.
    63. Republican County Board Candidate Brent Schepp was charged withsexually assaulting young girls (26 counts).
    64. William Irey, 49, of Orlando, president and CEO of Frank Irey Construction Inc., a major Walt Disney World building contractor, is accused of traveling overseas earlier this year to meet children and coerce them “to engage in sexually explicit conduct,” according to an indictment approved Dec. 13 by a grand jury in Orlando.
    65. A grand jury in Cleveland returned a 17-count indictment Wednesday against 32-year-old Michael Flory, including charges of rape, kidnapping and aggravated burglary. Flory is chairman of the Michigan Federation of Young Republicans, an organization for members of the party between 18 and 40.

    Several newspapers are now reporting that Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is dating and basically living with Callista Bisek, a “willowy blond Congressional aide 23 years his junior.” Biske, 33, has been spending nights at Gingrich’s apartment near the Capitol and has her own key. In an amazing act of hypocrisy, Gingrich was apparently dating Bisek all during Clinton-Lewinsky adultery scandal, even as he proclaimed family values and bitterly criticized the President for his adultery.

    Reporters and other Washington insiders have known about this relationship since 1994, even before Gingrich became Speaker of the House, but did not have any solid proof to report. In 1995, Vanity Fair magazine described Bisek as Gingrich’s “frequent breakfast companion.” Gingrich was married to Marianne Gingrich during all of that time, and just filed for divorce in August 1999.

    Newt pressed his first wife to sign divorce papers while she was still in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. He also graciously said “She isn’t young enough or pretty enough to be the President’s wife.” But his second marriage hasn’t been that smooth either. Newt and Marianne have been separated – “frankly”, she told the Washington Post in June 1989, “it’s been on and off for some time.”

    The hospital visit wasn’t the end of it, either. Jackie had to take Newt to court to get him to contribute for bills, as utilities were about to be cut off.

    John McCain has acknowledged engaging in extramarital affairs upon returning from Vietnam. While he was in Vietnam, his wife Carol had been severely injured in a car accident. Upon returning home in 1973, McCain found his wife to be very different from when he had married her. He soon began engaging in extramarital affairs and in 1979, he met Cindy Hensley. A year later, McCain sought a divorce from Carol and a month after that, he married Cindy.

    Rudy Giuliani had a high profile divorce from Donna Hanover , which he announced on public TV even before informing her. On May 10, 2000 Mr. Giuliani announced at a press conference that he was seeking a separation from his wife, Donna Hanover — without first informing her of his decision. The reason? Judith Stish Nathan Giuliani, he began dating her before his divorce from Donna Hanover, his second wife, was final.

    Defense contractor, Mitchell Wade, admitted that he paid California Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham (republican) more than $1 million in bribes in exchange for millions more in government contracts.

    Jessica Cutler, the former Senate aide who posted details of her sex life on the Internet. The case brought by REPUBLICAN Sen. Mike DeWine’s former counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee, Robert Steinbuch, alleges that Cutler engaged in an invasion of his privacy in 2004 by publishing sexually explicit facts about a relationship with Steinbuch.

Mr Jones alleged to the press that Haggard engaged in sex with him for three years and used crystal methamphetamine.

    PeeeUuuuu, something stinks here. Gah! These repressed freaks are so obsessed with sex and not in a good way…other’s sex, and we can guess why.
    But I see Clif is cleaning up the mess, not that facts sink in to these f’d up brains.

    Mike, Lydia’s is new for me. I dig reading her posts and threads.
    Santa Fe is my city of choice when I’m forced to visit one, but I live quite a distance away. Lotsa traffic, but it’s a beautiful city and the weather now is gorgeous. By all means head for the Plaza. You’ll need to park and walk and there are zillions of great sites closeby, Saint Francis Cathedral being one and the Museum of Fine Arts is another…I think there’s an O’Keeffe exhibit there now. For upscale, eat at the Santacafe at the Inn of the Anasazi. If you want funk and less glitz, drive about 25 miles south on US 14 (Turquoise Trail) to Madrid (”mad drid”). It’s a nice drive. If you have the time, visit Taos, and even better, drive I-25 NE into the Sangre de Christo mountains. Mmm Mmm Mmmmmmmm

    These filth-spewing trolls are the slugs that slip around in the gutters of our society. Mostly people turn away in disgust from them, but now the Internet has given them a voice and I wouldn’t change that for anything. They shine light into darkness and we all need to see it. I admit to some sympathy for people like the Lookers among us. No one reaches their level of human degradation without serious harm having been brought to them, most likely as children. These tied-up and twisted minds are to be pitied. At the same time, it is our responsibility to smack them down every time they rear their ugly heads.

    Imagine what the children who attended Jesus Camps are going to be like as adults. Imagine the homes they grow up in, with parents who would send them to such places to be fed poison.

The Jesus Camps need to all be closed down for the sake of our country and for Christianity. Also, I bet the children in these far right wing homes are being molested by their fathers. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least! Sick.

    Oh, I’m sure Mirth. I guess it’s like the Catholic Priests who join the church years before to ‘cure’ themselves of their pedophilia. They feel by joining a church that is harsh on the gays (separate from pedophilia of course!) it will cover up the fact that they have some severe problems. Religious right fathers in our country do the same thing: they rape and molest their own children but when they leave their house they’re ‘good, white, and pure’ and use this image as a cover up for their own disgusting behavior!
