Is mutiny about to happen against the Bush Regime?

Posted on | February 25, 2007 | 56 Comments

It appears that some of our Generals are saying they ‘will quit’ if the Bush Regime attacks Iran! Can you imagine if the only way to save our country is to have mutiny right now? I love it! Like I’ve pointed out before, besides the American people taking their country back, we may have to help from our own military to accomplish it!

High-five to the American-loving Generals:

SOME of America’s most senior military commanders are prepared to resign if the White House orders a military strike against Iran, according to highly placed defence and intelligence sources.

Tension in the Gulf region has raised fears that an attack on Iran is becoming increasingly likely before President George Bush leaves office. The Sunday Times has learnt that up to five generals and admirals are willing to resign rather than approve what they consider would be a reckless attack.

“There are four or five generals and admirals we know of who would resign if Bush ordered an attack on Iran,” a source with close ties to British intelligence said. “There is simply no stomach for it in the Pentagon, and a lot of people question whether such an attack would be effective or even possible.”

A British defence source confirmed that there were deep misgivings inside the Pentagon about a military strike. “All the generals are perfectly clear that they don’t have the military capacity to take Iran on in any meaningful fashion. Nobody wants to do it and it would be a matter of conscience for them.

“There are enough people who feel this would be an error of judgment too far for there to be resignations.”

A generals’ revolt on such a scale would be unprecedented. “American generals usually stay and fight until they get fired,” said a Pentagon source. Robert Gates, the defence secretary, has repeatedly warned against striking Iran and is believed to represent the view of his senior commanders.

The threat of a wave of resignations coincided with a warning by Vice-President Dick Cheney that all options, including military action, remained on the table. He was responding to a comment by Tony Blair that it would not “be right to take military action against Iran”.

Wow! Now that would be something to see and how patriotic I would feel if the Generals of our military took a stand like this for the sake of the country and for the American people. Mutiny is sometimes an option and I can’t think of a better time than now for it to happen.

ThinkProgress also wrote about this and the commentary by Americans that proceeds it is worth the read too.

Wouldn’t it be great if the military told Little Boots, “No, Mr. President, Iran isn’t the greatest threat to the USA, you are,” and then arrested him and dragged him out of the Oval Office?

    Let freedom ringgggggggggggg!

The problem with a mutiny is that it might spark a Civil War throughout USA.

You think so Ox? You could be right, but if a revolution did start it would be a good thing and it wouldn’t be to keep the ideologies of the White House occupants as word for the American people!

It could have positive benefits. ;-)

    Hi Kay…

After months and months of frustration, I started reading a LOT of books about this criminal administration. I was having trouble making sense of everything. I also read the PNAC document. This site below does a fantastic summary of what’s going on. It’s a long read, but well worth it. One of the better summaries I’ve seen.

If these generals and admirals resign, it will mean nothing, nada, zip zero to these bastards. Those of us who try to be decent and responsible have no place in the neocon world.

    In this spirit:

“What country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.” – Thomas Jefferson

Our elected officials have forgotten this and certainly, who they work for.

Thanks for the link Wixif! I know all about it. Frightening stuff and it pisses me off that these guys did a soft coup of our nation back in 2000 knowing full well they’d be working against the American people and the rest of the world! I hate them for it.

You’re right about the Generals, but the way I see it, I would rather have history written that the American people and the military valiantly fought against these assholes! But then again, the Pigs will rewrite history cause of their Orwellian ways…

    I dunno.
I’m thrilled by the report that senior military may revolt, and if the gov’t makes any aggression towards Iran, either directly or by Israeli proxy, then I pray they do, but a military coup is a damn scary thing. Of course they are only talking about resigning and that alone could stop the insanity of an Iran strike. However, if the military should move towards seizure of the gov’t…

Hi Kay. I decided to check out your site. If you don’t already know, I’m “former marine in ny” too. And yes, I am. But I decided to go back to my original moniker, too many people questioned my “progressiveness” because I’m an ex-jarhead. I think you and Margaret are a hoot!

I don’t know about the whole-sale resignation of generals though. We are entering into unknown territory here.

But then again, when you take the military oath, especially officers, you swear to uphold the Constitution of the United States, not a leader. We’ll see I guess.

Soldiers and marines who have served under the generals will KNOW they are not surrender monkeys as the reichwingnut chicken hawks love to call people who demand an end to this illegal war. The Generals could HOLD press conferences to tell the world including the US citizens why they are resigning from active service and what is wrong with Bushco, which would not only get a large OPEN debate started but they also would get support from many corners around this planet. Hell even Bush’s poodle Tony Blair is NOW saying an attack on Iran is insanity. If even a few high ranking Generals resign it would put enormous pressure on Bush to explain why HE knows more than people who did NOT hide from battle but dedicated their lives to the art of war and protecting this country instead of snorting coke and getting drunk instead. Even Dead eye would not be able to stare or shout these Generals down if they were ready to surrender their careers for this country. It could cause Congress to finally stand up and reassert their constitutional duties and hold Bush and Cheney accountable.

Also the MSM would NOT be able to hide such a move with the next Brittany or Anna Nicole stunts.

Mass resignations isn’t exactly mutiny but it would be the moral decision to make. The idiot Napolean wannabe in the WH has delusions of conquest that our military isn’t equiped to fullfil. Long protracted military campaigns have always led to the decline of the state. When “The Rise and Fall of The United States” is written by some future historian (and it will), the Bush name will figure prominently in the second half of that book.

Hi Dad! Happy to have you here today. I’m not sure I’ve responded to “former marine in ny” but now you have me curious because I’m wondering if there’s a difference in your comments using the two different monikers. Interesting that some didn’t like you as the latter.

I think you’re right about our current times and the current members of the White House have had their own agenda for decades. They’ll do anything to make America an authoritarian dictatorship. Our military could stop them by not doing what they asked of them. Hey, it’s a start! You’re also correct when you say the extreme neocons would welcome the slaughtering of Americans. Who is emboldening the terrorists, again?

If senior Generals start resigning, the mid level career officers will have to make a decision, whether to support the officers they served with FOR YEARS or the Idiots who got the military into the Fiasco in Iraq and refuse to fully fund the support for the troops and their families who ONLY have two years left before the American people kick them OUT on their sorry asses. I do NOT think most Officers will truly side with a coke snorting ex drunk wanna be fly boy who got appointed as a second lieutenant but NEVER earned his commission. Neither are they gonna want to follow some idiot who got FIVE deferments from Vietnam and hid out for a day after shooting some old man in the face INSTEAD of standing up and accepting responsibility from the FIRST moment.

No if senior Generals start resigning, the officers under them probably will NOT wanna follow the Idiot and the Delusional Moron who is his puppet master.

Clif that “Surrender Monkey” catchphrase is the stupid most riddiculous thing i’ve ever heard its like a retard made it up……..oops a it was probably Rove or Coulter so I guess a brain damaged retard did make it up.

Bur seriously WE invaded Iraq, they didnt invade us, and they didnt attack us, so it was an act of pre emptive aggression and war on our part so how would choosing peace and withdrawing be surrendering, thats like if I assaulted someone with a baseball bat and after beating them unconscious for 5 minutes decided I had done wrong and chose to stop my attack…………IS THAT SURRENDERING, OR COMING TO MY SENSES AND CHOOSING PEACE, SANITY, AND DOING RIGHT, RATHER THAN SENSELESS AGGRESSION AND VIOLENCE.

remember we are over THERE occupying and invading THEIR country, how is leaving surrendering?

If Russia invaded our country then rethought their war of choice and deemed it a mistake, is that surrendering when they were the aggressor or is that coming to their senses.

Also I would HOPE your right about the MSM being forced to cover this over Britney, but after the last 6 years I have my doubts the MSM is part of the Reich Wing fascist corporate empire and I think they will contuniue to protect their own until someone hopefully the new Congress breaks up these Fascist propaganda/media empires.

What i’m wondering is WHY the hell congress doesnt immediately move to repeal the laws that were recently passed that pave the way for GWB to declare martial law.

If something like that isnt a loud and clear announcvement of the Neo Cons plans to set up a dictatorship I dont know what is.

And like I said before I feel starting a war with Iran could be the catalyst Bush needs to declare martial law and set up a dictatorship.

Bush tries to seize yet more power by paving the way and making it far easier to declare martial law and Congress sleeps or gets caught up in defending their use of private jets or passing toothless nonbinding resolutions that Bush likely snickers or laughs at as he writes another signing statement or makes another propagander speech to deceive the weak minded.

Mike, I’m no apologist for Congress, but facts are facts: The Dems are brand new to any power, they hold a razor-thin majority, and it isn’t enough of a margin to make substantial moves. That may change once Waxman’s investigations get going.

As far as our sycophant mainstream news media, their bottom line is $ and thus far that has meant programming to the American Idol crowd who largely make up their audiences. If that changes, if the general public shows they wants more than brain-numbing pablum, if they speak out with their own $ against the rightwing slant we now have, the programming and how it’s presented will change. If it doesn’t, then this country deserves what it’s going to get.

Mirth I understand your point, and as much as I would like to see this idiot impeach YESTERDAY, I realize we need to be patient let the hearings and investigations bring new evidence to light and let that dictate the impeachment while focusing on getting other important legislation passed.

Now having said that I think the martial law bills just passed NEED to be attacked and repealed ASAP, and putting them on a backburner would be VERY UNWISE.

There have been rumors Bush will attack Iran in April or even March, now that will likely produce an oil spike that will devaste our economy we would have mass bankruptcies, unemployment, starving people, riots, chaos and Bush could use that to declare martial law and seize total power like a dictator then it will be too late to do anything about it and the hearings and investigations will all be for naught in fact Bush may even use his power to have his oppents killed or declared enemy combattants.

Also I cant help but wonder if the Democrats plan is just to speak out agaionst Bush as much as neccessary but to let him hang himself, like for example speak out a little about Iran and make it clear they oppose him, but do nothing to really stop him from doing it or openly challenge him, them when he does it and our economy, military and whole way of life is destroyed say I told you so and sit back and snicker as the repug party self destructs and they reap the benefits.

I sincerely hope thats not the case, because if Bush gets the opportunity to declare Martial law it might be ballgame over and elections might be meaningless because we have an imperial dictator that will be in power for a long time.

Mike, I agree with everything you say except that if this country finally wakes up because they are personally affected financially, and that’s a very real possibility for the reasons you write, then BushCo will lose power over us and attempts at martial law are less likely to succeed. It is vital to the NeoCon efforts that citizens stay in their stupor. The Neo’s work requires them to be far more stealthy.
I don’t think that the US will lead an attack on Iran. Instead it will be Israel doing the dirty work, at least initally, and that may lessen, for a time at least, the impact we Americans feel.
What is most troubling about the leaked war with Iran plans is the 2nd scenario that would cause us to attack, that being if a significent number of our service persons in Iraq are killed and the plans for it can be traced to Iran. All that requires is for us to stage a murder of our own people, which provides for two things: a ‘reason’ to attack Iran and probably American support for doing it.

Mike Martial Law ONLY works if the military goes along with it, and neither Bob Gates nor the Military Brass is going to sit quietly by and allow Bush to destroy the nation or constitution they swore to protect. The troops would follow their leadership and just Like during The time in Moscow when Yelson stared down the military and the troops refused to fire because they were tired of the old corrupt Kremlin Guard, this current crop of mid level officers and troops would be reluctant to allow Bush to destroy it all.

Remember Bush could TRY to nationalize the Guard for martial law, but Maryland AND Virginia haver democratic Governors and their guard might be reluctant to follow Bush NOT their governors leads.

Bush would have to try to get Gates and the pentagon to save his sorry ass, and then HE would be as defenseless at that point because the Military and Gates could demand a rescinding of Martial law and restoration of the Constitution. Bush would definitely be impeached at that point, and Cheney right along with him.

Just as Henry Kissinger made sure Nixon could NOT do something stupid in his final days, Gates probably would assert control of the pentagon, and with the help of senior military leadership BLOCK Bush’s grab for permanent power, and I do NOT think Condi would follow Bush into an insane move like that, she does not want a War with Iran, but does want Bushco to dominate Iraq for it’s oil. She could be the tipping point where Bush and Cheney were neutered, especially when the CIA hates Cheney like it does for all his attacks and undermining their authority, along with Cheney’s orchestration of the outing of Valire Plame. No If Bush tried a brain dead idea of seizing power to prevent his ending of his “decider-ship”, large sections of the real patriots of this government would work and act to stop him. And Bush and Cheney would be powerless when they did.
