QUOTE OF THE DAY:
GLENN BECK AT CPAC 2010:
‘Hello, my name is the Republican Party, and I’ve got a problem. I’m addicted to spending and big government…I’m addicted to spending and I just don’t want to spend today.’

"If by a “Liberal” they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties — someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a “Liberal,” then I’m proud to say I’m a “Liberal.” ~ John F. Kennedy, 1960

This could be why McCave didn’t vote tonight:

Lieberman show HIS true colors, he is paying the re-pubies and KKKarl back for all that cash and support. Hopefully a couple MORE seats will switch to the light and he will be marginalized for the rest of his pathetic existence in the senate.
Tennessee: Alexander (R-TN), Nay – Corker (R-TN), Nay

feel my pain?
I feel your pain Smoke! Ms. Susan Collins is now a “liberal” and voted “yea” because she has an election coming up. If she didn’t she would have voted against this!
It’s being reported on some of the blogs that Harry Reid is bullshit at Mitch McConnell. Reid is ruthless when he’s stabbed in the back.
Let’s hope McConnell turns around in front of Reid…..tomorrow.
“It’s being reported on some of the blogs that Harry Reid is bullshit at Mitch McConnell”
= = =
what does this mean?
Apparently Reid & McConnell had made an agreement behind the scenes that the republicans would go along with this to start the debate on Iraq, and then when it came time to vote, EVEN WARNER VOTED AGAINST HIS OWN RESOLUTION.
McConnell stabbed Reid in the back.
The democrats need to start using their spines or the country is completely lost. They’re America’s only hope right now.
i see
By these votes, maybe people will better understand why Pelosi isn’t attempting impeachment.
Rightn you are Mirth, the re-pubies will stretch impeachment out for the next two years all the while allowing it to eat up all the news cycles and take Iraq and the reichwing criminal enterprise off page one, and in the end all the need is 15 votes NOT to convict and Bush walks.
Of course they reichwing would exploit impeachment for raising money from their sheeple base, and Fox Noise machine would make the democrats seem like traitors in the vein of Benedict Arnold. In the Military the JAG officers told us if the case was not very good it was better not to waste the time.
Well said, Clif, and accurate.
Impeachment hearings, 24/7 blahblahblah from our sycophant media, ending in acquittal because there aren’t enuf votes to convict.
Hagel voted NAY?
WTF???
Oh yes………AND EVEN WARNER VOTED “NO” and it was his resolution that was being voted on!
I’m up at 3:22am because I can’t sleep. It’s so sick what happened yesterday in the Senate.
Harry Reid had better pick up his balls and give the finger to the republicans for the rest of his days, because right now, he has lost respect from me and others. TRUSTING THE REPUBLICANS IS STUPID!!!!
[ OK? ]
Love the picture Smoke, but ole Harry had better grow a pair of tomatoes against the wolves in sheep’s clothing!!!
I don’t ever want to hear another person suggest Sen. Chuck Hagel is one of the good guys because when push came to shove, he voted along party lines and stood with his warmongering party.
I also see the morphing process of Lieberman into a GOPer is now complete. Screw him.
Did you see what Warner did? He’s the right winger who had an Iraq resolution and who spoke out against Bush and said he was going to join the democrats on forcing debate on Ira.
Guess what he did last night? He voted against his own freaking resolution!!!!!
The republicans are evil wolves. We cannot trust them and why Harry Reid thinks he can is a head scratcher!!
They’re all committed: To continue to get elected, in whatever way they can!
Gotta keep that easy money coming in you know? ; (
At PP, I listed just the Nay votes as the GOP CHICKENHAWK HALL OF SHAME.
TomCat, I just took a look at PP. Nice!
Ok, according to aqarius2 at ABlog, Reid voted Nay to keep the debate on Iraq going…some quirky Senate rule.
The rule requires somebody from the majority of the vote to bring it up again, once the attempt was known to fail, Harry Reid voted with the re-pubies so He could bring it up again. It is one way the senate allows debates to continue, and gives a minority the power to return to something they really care about which is being stymied by parliamentary tricks.
Thanks Clif.
Reid’s nay vote and then his call for the debate to continue were confusing. This is a perfect example of the collaborative effort that makes a good blog – what one doesn’t understand, another can explain.
Thanks Mirth. I work hard at it. I’ve also heard of that rule. Don’t ask me to explain it (or half the other obscure Senate rules), but I know it’s there.
