Feingold & Conyers are talking ‘impeachment’

Okay, they haven’t actually said that impeachment is back on the table, but from what they are saying, the oversight hearings they will be conducting here soon will be the path too it if they find what Americans think they’ll find out. Oh boy! I’m  excited about this.

From the Brad Blog via Raw Story:

In the House, Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee — the one which would lead the way concerning any Articles of Impeachment for a sitting U.S. President or Vice-President — announced today that hearings would be held next Wednesday in the committee on “Presidential Signing Statements under the Bush Administration: A Threat to Checks and Balances and the Rule of Law?” (We’ll update this item shortly with expected witnesses, see the short details here for the moment.)

In the Senate, Russ Feingold (D-WI) will chair Judiciary Committee hearings on “Congress’ Power to End a War.” In a media advisory just released, (posted in full below) Feingold refers to Congress’ “power of the purse to redeploy our troops safely from Iraq so that we can refocus on the global terrorist networks that threaten our national security.”

“This hearing will help inform my colleagues and the public about Congress’s power to end a war and how that power has been used in the past,” Feingold is quoted in the release. As well, he promises to to introduce new legislation to do exactly that in the Senate. “I will soon be introducing legislation to use the power of the purse to end what is clearly one of the greatest mistakes in the history of our nation’s foreign policy,” the Senator said.

When Russ Feignold announced that he wasn’t going to be running for president for the 2008 race, my heart sank. I loooooooooooove him. He would make a fine president for sure. He did not vote for the war either and not only is he proud of that fact but I am too! Anyways, I don’t remember him giving a reason as to why he dropped out of the race early on, but I bet (I bet!) he did it because he wanted to focus on taking down the Bush Regime. Oh holy day! I hope that’s his reason. I’m all for that if it is.

Let’s hope he and Conyers (remember him? He held hearings down in the basement of the Congressional buildings because the republicans refused to give him the space to conduct them!) put impeachment back on the table. Americans want it badly! Yes, Nancy Pelosi did say impeachment was off, but she also said hearings will occur and the chips will fall where they lay. If impeachment is needed, ole Nancy and others will gladly insist the table be long and wide. Woohoo!!

    Hi Kay!

Oh yeah, these two people are very powerful politicians. They speak eloquently and you can tell they have a love and passion for their country.

Yup, I remember when Conyers was relegated to the basement for the meeting. How childish and and unclassy, and inhumane!

But whatever, Conyers is moving forward and that’s all that matters.

    YEAH!

This is why I keep telling everyone over at Ablog to be patient. The processes can be slow at times but that doesn’t mean things aren’t going to happen. Feingold & Conyers are both truth speakers & seekers. It’s going to be a wild ride this year. Woohoo!

The bad thing is Pelosi repeatedly said before the elections that if Dems took control, there would be no impeachment.

Larry, she was down playing it. There is no way in hell as the hearings unfold and when the truth is learned that the democratic majority CANNOT impeach if impeachable offenses were found (that’s the key but that’s what the hearings are all about…to get to the bottom of what happened).

The democrats will do the right thing in the end. I believe that they will.
